I own many cameras including SLR's. This camera takes really nice pictures for a relatively inexpensive camera, better than some some other compacts I own that cost twice as much.

Nice camera when you want the portability of a small, pocketable camera. Not a very useful flash, but that's to be expected in a camera like this. Very nice, good quality outdoor shots. The face recognition works very well. I purchased this for my wife so that she could have a small camera with her at all times. We also own a few DSLR's, but they're not always the most practical to carry around with you. So this fills that void very nicely.

This is a great camera. For this size, it would be hard to have a bigger zoom, but that would make if 5 stars. Picture quality is excellent. Battery life is great and ease of use out of the box is a big plus. It is easy to figure out the buttons and options. Like all other Canons.

A 2 gig HIGH SPEED SD CARD WILL GET YOU ABOUT 750 PICTURES AND IF YOU TAKE A LOT OF MOVIES A 4 gig IS A GOOD CHOICE.
