Purchased as a Mother and Father's day gift for my parents before they travel to Ireland. They love the ease of the camera, the size is perfect and the picture quality is great.

I have a Digital SLR and prefer to use it, however; it is not convenient to have at all times. I wanted a camera I could just drop in my purse and have with me for those "wish I'd had my camera" shots. This one is perfect. Even though it is a compact, small camera it still has some of the same creative/manual features that my DSLR has.

its a good camera but i accpected more. except its larger mega pixels the functuallity is very poor and too complicated. it takes a lot of memory room when you download it to your computer.

This is a great camera. It's easy to use, takes high quality photos, and is small enough to carry around anywhere. I keep it in my purse so I have it with me wherever I go. I upgraded to this camera from the Cannon SD450 (similar model, about 3 years older) and this has been even better. The 5x optical zoom is really useful. The camera has tons of features but the automatic mode is so good that it's great for casual users too. The camera's anti-shake and face-detection features are useful and intuitive. Battery life is quite good. I bought the package deal on an NB-5L extra battery, travel charger, and small tripod, and all three have been very handy. The screen is very visible and has multiple brightness settings. You can turn off the LCD display to extend battery life, which is great if you're going hiking and taking pictures infrequently over a long time period. It has great special scenes modes too. Portrait mode, night snapshot, fireworks, time elapse, they all work beautifully. The manual does a good job of explaining the features and options in clear language. Only two very minor negatives with this camera: 1 - like most cameras it comes with a ridiculously small memory card (you can fill 32 MB with approximately 10 very high-quality pictures) so you'll need to buy a better memory card. It takes all sorts of cards, including the Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) cards. 2 - the camera is so light that with the lens extended it almost overbalances, so be careful if you put it down with the lens extended.

I bought this to replace a Canon A75 that I loved. With double the pixels, it gives very sharp pictures and it is relatively easy to learn. I took it on a trip to the Caribbean only a week after purchase and I am pleased with the results. It is lighter and has a bigger LCD display. I will probably use the scene settings and manual options more than I did with my old camera as the controls are more intuitive. Zoom is much improved.

Not able (or willing) to take my Nikon D200 on regular business trips, I was recently frustrated being unable to shoot an abandoned building in Houston. I bought this camera after reading numerous reviews, and thus far I think the choice has been a good one. The display is very clear and bright, and photos outdoors and indoors, with and without flash have been excellent. The 5X zoom was important, as I will not use the digital zoom. I have the camera with me always. Needless to say I needed to purchase a much larger SD card than the 32 MB one that comes with the camera.

I have replaced an SD 500 Elph with this one as my "always carry" camera which I wear in a Canon belt pouch. It is as small and unobtrusive as the 500 but with the added 5X zoom, 10 mega pixels, faster focus and bigger screen. I hope it proves to be as bullet proof as the 500 which has provided a number of salable shots over the years. So far it's performance has been impressive.

Bought for my non-technical wife as a great point and shoot. It also has many professional features for me to use. Canon makes great cameras, excellent pics, fast start up, face recognition, great image stabilization and good optical zoom. Battery charge lasts for days. Only problem is the battery door is where your thumb goes and you can but not too easily open the batter door by mistake.

Take family/friend events. Easy to use. Good zoom. Need to use a tripod on distance zoom to steady my hands.

It's a good camera if you want a point and shoot. It has not a fancy appearence like other cameras but it has a better quality of the image compared to the average of its level. I bought a Nikon prior to this one and the pics were awful (it seems to be a common problem of all Nikon point and shoot).

I used this product in outdoor/indoor and on different weathers, for about a week. I somehow feel something is lacking in it. I am not able to find out what it is, as I am not a pro. But I did not like the end result and so I returned it.

it refused to turn on after about two weeks of casual use. I was away in India at the time. [...]Now I have to figure out how to ship it back to Canon for repair, as if I want this thing, repaired, when it barely functioned as a new item.
