A 9-point autofocus system provides fast focusing when shooting with the viewfinder and Hybrid CMOS AF II increases autofocus speed and accuracy when shooting in Live View. The Rebel SL1 can continuously shoot up to 4 fps and its wide ISO range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) allows for confident shooting in bright and low light situations.A 3.0" Clear View II touchscreen LCD with 1,040k-dot resolution provides composition and playback viewing. Its intuitive touchscreen operation includes multi-touch operation with direct access to functions for settings changes and Touch Autofocus. Smudge-resistant coating keeps the monitor clear, even in bright sunlight. An optical viewfinder with 0.87x magnification is also available for stable eye-level composition.Full HD 1080p at 30 fps and 24 fps is supported with Movie Servo for continuous autofocus during shooting. Manual exposure is provided in video mode and 60 fps is possible when shooting at 720p HD. An inner focusing system provides fast autofocus and with a Stepping Motor (STM) and six group zoom system it supports the Rebel SL1's Movie Servo AF feature for smooth and quiet continuous autofocus during video recording. A high precision aspherical lens reduces chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range for sharp imaging and Canon lens coatings provide accurate color balance and minimal ghosting and flare.

I was so disappointed to discover that there is no back button focus on the T8i.  If I had known, I would never have purchased this camera.  It never crossed my mind that this feature would be deleted.

No Back Button Focus

I bought this camera right after Christmas because it was on sale for my sister. I’ve used it a few times since then and have really enjoyed the camera. I think it would be a good camera for someone who is newer to DLSR photography. The battery life and the image quality are great. I like that the camera is a little more light weight than some of my others.

All around great camera

Easy to learn.

I bought this a year ago, and love this camera SO MUCH. It is never slow, always has amazing quality photos, and I love using this with my EFS 18-55mm lens. Super easy to take anywhere, and the touch screen makes it super easy to use.

I love this camera!

I use this camera for times when I want great images but don't want to carry my Canon 6d and 24-105mm lens.  The images are so close to a full frame body, Canon 6d, I have a difficult time distinguishing them, the sensor is one of the best from Canon.  The camera is one of the easier user interfaces I find, all the important controls can be found on one screen, the touchscreen makes selection easy.  Canon produced this model to show how small a DSLR can be made yet retain quality.

I bought this camera when it first came out. I used it very rarely. My friend borrowed it for one year. Then, 3 weeks ago my daughter and I went to Bali, Indonesia and I brought this camera. Whoa! I didn't know how good this camera is. It's just perfect the camera: the size, the quality of pictures and number of shooting options available. 

Just now, I upgraded it's firmware to 1.0.1 and I am eager to get out a shoot some more...

Great camera

My girlfriend surprised me at Christmas and gifted me this camera.  She knew I was too frugal to buy one on my own.  I guess she got tired of hearing me gripe about the mediocre pics I was taking with my phone and old Olympus digital.  

The Canon Rebel is a terrific camera.  I was also suprised with a separate Canon 75-300 mm telephone lens which I use frequently, and often use it for fairly close-up shots.  The camera features a seemingly infinite number of settings and options.  I've committed seven or eight settings to memory, from frequent use.  Admittedly, for many of the advanced settings and for rare configuration needs, I have to consult the manual.  

The photos are easy to download from the camera.  I'm constantly being complimented for pics that I post.  I can't wait until the leaves are out on the trees where I live so that I can start taking shots without the background being dominated by grays, whites and blacks!

Best I've ever owned

I'm a professional photographer, but I don't always want to carry my backpack full of gear when I'm travelling. This camera is a really nice solution for personal travel trips. It's got some really nice features and is small enough to through in a small case. My wife has even used it as a backup camera for weddings.

Good compact camera for travel

This was my first DSLR.  It is a great little camera.  The hand grip is small, but the camera is so light that I never found it uncomfortable. I love how compact it is, because it makes it easy to take in anywhere.

Great beginner camera

Bought the camera for my son because he wants to get into filming.  After extensive research, he found this camera to be one of the best cameras for filming and taking photos.  He absolutely loves it.

It's not a 5D, or a 6D, or a 70D but its an extremely portable, lightweight and functional camera. It's missing a few bells and whistles but that's not what this camera is for. The image quality is on par with with Canon's APS-C camera line, it works great in low light. It works great as a second camera or when I just want to pack light.

Perfect little camera.

I've owned a T2i, aT5, and an SL1.  The SL1 is my favorite due to its compactness.  Easy to use, but has all the tools I need in terms of customization.  A great buy!

Compact and fun to use

 I bought this camera package for each of my 2 children. They are 15 years old and had just taken an introductory photography class, so they each wanted a camera for Christmas. This seemed like a  good basic package for a beginner to start with.  When it arrived the quality of everything in the package lived up to my expectations.  The camera and lenses worked well  and all of the accessories  worked well together. I am jealous and considering trading in my 10-year-old cannon digital camera  and upgrading to this package. By the way, the kids could not have been more excited and pleased.  Kudos to Adorama!

Love this camera package!

This is the perfect take along camera when you need speed and good handling.  It works well with the EF-S 18-55 IS STM kit lens and the EF-S 55-250 IS STM telephoto lens.  Don't let the the plastic build fool you into thinking those are Not good quality lenses.  They are very good and perfect for this camera.  Paired with the SL1 you have a very good take along kit because it's small, light and Fast!  The EF-S 24mm STM and EF 40mm STM are also very small pancake lenses and work well with this camera.  The video good too and the screen refresh rate is very fast.  Not sure how many frames per second but doesn't  flicker when panned.  I know the specs rate the HD at 30 frames per second but the screen refresh may be faster.  I know it's faster than my 60D, 70D and EOS M.  Speaking of the EOS M, the SL1 uses the same battery.

The primary reason I bought the SL1 was there were times my EOS M's autofocus couldn't get the shot due to the subject moving. When using the 55-250 lens with the EF to EF-M adapter, the M is clumsy to use.  However I'm keeping my EOS M.  It has it's place too.

Image quality wise the SL1 is the same as the EOS M and 70D. Excellent!  Maybe just very slightly better than the 60D, the SL1 being a little newer model. Auto focus using the viewfinder is quick and accurate.  Using the screen in live view is pretty fast in general.  There are options to grab focus from most of the screen (80% or you can touch a section of the screen to focus on.  Almost as fast as my 70D's dual pixel AF.  The touch screen is quick and responsive too.  Touch shutter is nice to use when using a tripod.  Works well with external Canon flashes.

A lot of performance for a light little camera

My main rig is a Canon 5D Mark III that can be a bear for some jobs so this little gem can use all the lenses and accessories and it works just fine !

My lighter camera !

I gave an SL1 to my daughter as a gift. She is a beginner so it will provide her with plenty of growing room as she learns. I have used a Rebel T2i for 6 years so I was pleased to find many aspects of the SL1 were more advanced than what is provided by my T2i. The SL1 body is very small and is not a good fit for any photographer with moderate to large hands. That is not a problem for my daughter. The shutter is quite quiet compared to what I am used to. The SL1 is not the be-all-and-end-all of DSLRs, nor is it intended to be, but the current pricing is great for what it provides to the beginning or hobbyist photographer.

Gift for my daughter

I have always loved Canon, I owned a Powershot A620 when it was released in 2005, but soon failed on me in 2013. Then I recently upgraded my camera in 2015 w/ EOS Rebel SL1 & the quality is still high grade just like my older canon. The freatures & settings it has delivers AMAZING professional photo quality without even photo shopping it. It captures the beauty of nature in Hawaii so perfectly. : love this camera. Highly recommend buying this if this will be your first professional camera. Big Tip, read the instruction manual on each of the setting so you can capture great pictures. :)

Great camera, great bundle!

Extremely lightweight, almost to a fault.  Just doesn't have the feel of a serious SLR camera...I have had over 8 Canon SLR's over the years, and this is the first one that I don't feel was worth the price. If the end result is what counts, then I suppose it meets better than average standards, but construction wise I'm not sure how durable this model will be. Should have paid more and got a better current model.

Basic SLR

My friend wanted a certain camera as an Xmas gift.  I was unsure about which version to buy,  I called and spoke with Frank Brown.  He was WONDERFUL. He explained they have a return policy for after Xmas and intelligently answered my questions about the camera.  My camera arrived the next day, just like Frank said it would.  Every business should aspire to provide customer service at this level.
