I have had this camera for about 5 years now and it no longer works and really never did but waited too long to return it Camera would not focus for video or still shots and could take up to 10 minutes to get it to focus on the subject instead of dust on the lens No kidding it would focus on dust on the lens every time without fail if I did not look really close to see that was what it was doing Entire videos 20 minutes long nothing but blur beside the dust on the lens that was in sharp focus no problem No not a dirty lens I'm talking about it would focus on one speck of any dust on the lens and never focus on the subjects Buttons on camera were too easy to push would turn camera on in bag and run down the battery so when I got to my destination and wanted photos forget it as it had to be charged again Spare batteries not available for this camera so once the battery starts going your camera will no longer work anymore and that was what was happening also as battery started discharging fast after about 2 videos and had to charge again for an hour Many many photos and videos worthless because of camera problems I have never seen with any other camera I have ever owned Anytime I worked using the canon camera it meant it would take 2-3 times longer to set up because of all the problems it would have not even including then finding out it focused on dust on the lens and have to redo the entire shot for twice the cost In short after all the problems I had with this camera I will never buy any Canon products ever again knowing I would just be paying for worthless junk Tried to add photos of how crummy the picture are but site would not upload a picture no doubt more problems with canon products again so I tell you what, I will build a website showing just how crummy canon cameras really are and I have thousands of videos and photos to prove it

Want a quality point and shoot camera without fuss of extra lens, tripods? The low cost Canon 530 HS is a durable, small camera which fits easily in my fanny pack---always ready when the next photo op presents. Great zoom plus a good macro----exceptional photos for the price. My one Go To Camera for all weather and lighting conditions.

This was my first real camera in the sense that it has actual settings you can change. So my experiences using it have been pretty solid. I mean over-all I bought it for the zoom feature to get photos of birds and it does work, but you need some serious light and must make use of the Tracking Autofocus. So what I was able to find is if you're using digital zoom it really needs to be mounted on a tripod, however the regular zoom works great and can get some really solid shots of birds. Also the shutter speed is pretty great, I mean I can catch birds in flight though I prefer grounded ones mainly. In the future I'll upgrade but here's a few examples attached. Definitely good in normal light but any lowlight it struggles with. So with the settings my experience shows a shutter around 500-800 is best for birds or ducks etc. and then let the camera choose the iso and aperture. My best results are not using the full zoom but stopping somewhat short and making up the distance on foot.

An good camera for the first time buyer. Been using mine for 2 years now. I am by no means a photographer, and only purchased one as a Road-Trip/Vacation/Birthday/Everyday Use kinda camera. Pros: Good to use and learn on as a person new to photography. Great in conditions where there is a lot of light. 50X magnification can come in handy. Easy to pick up and understand with minimal googleing. Very little if not any audible noise from focusing or zooming while in video mode. Some welcomed built in features such as auto-stabilization. Cons: A tad over priced for build quality and sensor, as it is a small sensor it lacks a lot of dynamic range in low light conditions, and will appear grainy. Video is especially noticeable. Lack of features that were included on older and cheaper cameras such as time lapse and single color highlighting. LCD screen, while crisp and clear, will show images brighter than what the camera actually takes. Images will come out slightly darker than what the screen portrays. TLDR: Good beginner camera. Takes decent photos in well lit areas. Video is bad in low lit areas. A tad over-priced for the quality. Missing some features from older, cheaper cameras.

This was my first ever camera and I've used it consistently for three years. The zoom power is really good and I've definitely gotten some pretty good shots. Of course, it takes time to learn how to use the camera in order to get the best quality. It does well with auto focus and is great for both close and far images. The only limitations I've struggled with is color aberration and fringing. When use the max zoom or if the lighting is too bright/too dark, the colors and quality of the image get a little weird and sometimes grainy. These are some of my favorite photos that I've taken. I highly recommend as a beginners camera, as it was my first camera too and I've loved learning with it.

This camera has been a lifesaver for me as a birder! I can zoom in on wildlife from very far away, even beyond the range of my high-powered binoculars! It's also excellent for clear photos of moving targets (within reason of the camera quality of course- it's not a super fancy lens, but it's definitely a great beginner camera and gets the job done for a causal photographer. Here are some photo examples I've taken recently with this camera.

well it took 2 days to finally get it to connect to my wifi. worked then, but the next day wouldn't connect again. fortunately I have a sdcard to usb connector and can download this way and it connects to my old sony soft ware that has many better features than the camerawindow software, that also took hours to finally find and download. I went through all the instructions and video on how to connect but was very frustrating.

Purchased for my seven year old granddaughter who loves photography. Light weight and images are nice. Sometimes I think it takes better photos on a more consistent bases then my DSLR. I think because of the lighter weight...

I bought this camera over a year ago, I am very satisfied with the camera and its performance. I own about three SLR Canon cameras and various lenses which I have not used since my first Canon digital camera. This camera with its lens is as good as one of my old SLR, and I don't have to be carrying lenses and switching lenses to take the photos I want. I highly recommend this camera to anyone that is looking for more than just a "point and shoot" and does not want to spend the money that the new digital SLR cost

My mom got this for me for christmas two years ago and at first I was pleased. But now the photos suck compared to my iPhone's camera and the colors are off and it just rarely looks good. The lens cap even broke a year ago and when I contact the canon chat thing they can't tell me the type of lens cap. Thanks canon.

I bought this camera over a year ago, and it never worked properly. The photos are extremely unclear and it takes very long for it to come into focus, especially when zoomed. When calling Canon for a replacement they did nothing other than feeling sorry for me - Which does not give me my money back!

My powershot is so easy to use and takes great pictures. A perfect camera for the beginner like me. I love the telephoto lens. I was able to read the name of a cruise ship from a few miles away while we were in Aruba.

Bought this for my wife and she really likes it. I was impressed with the zoom capability and the picture quality for a Point and Shoot. It looked new though it was refurbished. She uses it in Auto and it does a pretty good job.

Love my new Canon!
By Dan
I am a novice when it comes to cameras, so I was pleased when I studied the Canon sx530. So far, it has been a joy to use. I find the camera to be a good fit for novices, and it takes wonderful photos. If you are looking for a good, entry camera, I would highly recommend the sx530,
Love this camera!

I have been wanting a better camera for several years now and received this as a birthday gift from my husband this year. The zoom is amazing, and the clarity and detail of the pictures are astounding for a point and click camera. I've yet to have time to explore the manual settings. But I am sold on this camera! I especially love the Wi-fi share feature as I download my photos right after I take them onto my cell phone or home phone within seconds.
Whether the perfect shot is up close or seemingly out of reach, you'll capture it beautifully thanks to the amazing 50x (24-1200mm) zoom power of the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS camera. 50x Optical Zoom (24-1200mm)
Once you experience the reach and versatility of this camera's astonishing 50x Optical Zoom, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. From sporting events to travel highlights, wildlife to landscapes, the powerful zoom lets you capture the details that make your photography stand out. Not only will you have the ability to move in all the way to the exact shot you want, but you'll be able to capture those shots with incredible Canon quality. The camera's secure ergonomic grip makes steady handheld shooting easy and comfortable, while Intelligent IS analyzes the shooting situation and applies the best stabilization technology to keep images clear and virtually shake-free in a wide variety of conditions.
Intelligent IS
The latest advance in Canon Optical Image Stabilization technology, Intelligent IS, analyzes camera movement and applies the best shake correction method for the shooting situation. For stills, the system selects from Normal IS, Panning IS, Macro (Hybrid) IS and Tripod modes. When shooting video, the system selects from Dynamic IS, Powered IS, Macro (Hybrid) IS and Active Tripod IS modes. With Intelligent IS, you can concentrate on image capture, letting the camera make the most effective IS settings to help capture the steadiest possible image.
Normal IS
Corrects for a wide range of camera movement when shooting stills.
Panning IS
Panning motion is detected so that IS does not interfere with desired camera movement.
Macro (Hybrid) IS
Corrects for shift-type camera shake, which typically occurs in macro (close-up) shooting.
Tripod
When tripod use is detected, the Image Stabilizer is stopped because it is not needed.
Dynamic IS
Effective for video shooting at wide-angle focal lengths, eliminating the unwanted shaking that typically occurs while walking.
Powered IS
Compensates for hand movement when shooting video at the telephoto end of the zoom range, where camera shake is magnified.
Macro (Hybrid) IS
Corrects for motion blur that is likely to occur when shooting video while walking. Also compensates for the shift-type camera shake common in macro shooting.
Active Tripod IS
When shooting video while using a tripod, the image stabilization is active to compensate for slight camera shake.
Built-in NFC (Near Field Communication)
PowerShot digital cameras with built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) technology eliminates the need to manually find and open the new Canon CameraWindow app on your mobile device. Simply touch the NFC icon on your camera to your compatible Android device, and the CameraWindow app will launch automatically for quick, easy sharing of your images. Built-in NFC technology also makes it simpler to install the app. If the app hasn't been installed yet, once you touch the devices together for the first time, the download screen will display automatically.
Now, NFC helps ensure making a connection to a compatible Android device truly seamless. Simply touch the camera against an NFC-equipped device with the Canon CameraWindow app installed, and the Wi-Fi connection is established - no camera operations required. Even if your camera is off, NFC turns the camera on and establishes the connection (confirming the camera's nickname and privacy settings before the first connection is required).
Built-in Wi-Fi makes sharing quick and easy
Built-in Wi-Fi technology for on-the-go convenience when you want to share your photos and videos with friends, family and the whole world. Easily post your images to social networking and media sites - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and Google Drive - through CANON iMAGE GATEWAY directly from your PowerShot camera, or save them to the online photo album to share anytime, anywhere. The camera can also connect directly to both iOS and Android devices, and upload images via the free Canon CameraWindow app without a computer.
You can control the destination of your uploads to share with everyone or to selected groups, and even add comments. Sharing video is also easy with Wi-Fi equipped PowerShot cameras, which record video using the easy-to-share MP4 format. Enhanced Wi-Fi makes posting in real time possible, so you can keep everyone up to date with photos and video even as events unfold. Wi-Fi technology also allows you to transfer images to other Wi-Fi equipped PowerShot cameras or print your photos directly to a PictBridge (Wireless LAN) certified printer.
Image Sync Function
In addition to wirelessly transferring photos and videos through CANON iMAGE GATEWAY to your computer, now you can view and download them from your smartphone. Take them anywhere, anytime, and use your familiar smartphone operations to view and share them.
Remote Shooting with the Camera Window App
With the built-in Wi-Fi on the PowerShot SX530 HS camera, you can use your smartphone or tablet to remotely control the camera. Simply connect wirelessly to your device and access the free Canon CameraWindow app. Your device will show a live image of the camera's capture - perfect for a commemorative group photo, wildlife shots and all kinds of situations. The camera's versatile 50x Optical Zoom, flash, self-timer and shutter are all under your control, with images being saved to your camera as usual.
Mobile Device Connect Button
The camera's dedicated Mobile Device Connect Button gives you one-touch access to your compatible mobile device or computer (utilizing Image Sync function). You can transfer photos and videos to your smartphone or tablet for immediate sharing, to a computer on the same network. When the camera finds a linked computer on the same wireless network, images are sent directly to it. Otherwise, images are temporarily stored on CANON iMAGE GATEWAY then transferred once a connection is made - very convenient when you're on vacation or out for the day.
Compatibility with Canon Connect Station CS100
The PowerShot SX530 HS camera is fully compatible with Canon's brand new photo and video storage device: the Canon Connect Station CS100. By simply tapping with NFC, photos and videos are wirelessly transferred to the Connect Station CS100, where up to 1TB of hard drive space (has the capacity for approximately 150,000 photos or approximately 70 hours of video content) and simple menus make them easy to store, manage and sort by albums, date or device name. From there, images and videos can be viewed in Full HD on an HDTV (via an HDMI cable), sent to compatible wireless printers, viewed/uploaded/downloaded from smartphones and tablets or PCs, and shared with other Connect Stations and on social networking sites.
