Great Quality...Great Price!

A great camera capable and well built for multiple scenarios...indoor, outdoor, still and motion. Considered a much more expensive model but, T3i just as credible at a fraction of the cost.

First dSLR is a winner!

This is my first dSLR after many years of using point-and-shoot cameras from the PowerShot series. I was reluctant to venture into dSLR ownership because the models I had opportunity to actually use were bulky and heavy, and I didn't want to go back to the days of lugging around all of the gear that goes with an SLR. I came across this camera by accident, and the package deal that came with it was too good to pass up, so on a whim I decided to get my first "big girl camera" -- I have never been so pleased with an impulse purchase as I am with this camera! It's the perfect size (my hands are small, with the grips and shutter in logical places, and lightweight enough to be comfortably carried on a long hike. The picture quality is outstanding, with a variety of options for as little or as much control as the user desires. I purchased this camera in September, so I'm reserving opinion on the learning curve -- the first time I put it in manual mode, I found the settings display to be a little intimidating and got so lost in figuring out how to change the settings that my subject matter wandered away and disappeared before I could take the picture. I am extremely impressed with the battery life -- I spent a whole day taking pictures, almost 800 shots, and the battery was still well above the halfway point (I should note that I use the viewfinder instead of the LCD screen, other than for changing the settings or taking a shot with the camera in a place that my head won't fit.) It starts up fast when it is turned on, as well as recovering from power-saving mode. I have experienced the refusal to take a picture mentioned by another reviewer, but not to the degree that it couldn't be quickly corrected by moving slightly and refocusing -- it seems to happen when I am too close to a subject for the lens that I am using. This is my third Canon, and I continue to be extremely pleased with the quality and performance of their products.

Awsome!!

I can't believe that I can buy these in this price! In market, only a camera is more expensive than all of these. I really satisfied.

Great camera at a great price

I used an older digital Canon and wanted to upgrade. I mainly use the Canon T3I for family pictures and vacations. I like taking photos of landscape while vacationing.

Great Products!

The auto A+ settings do not work at night outdoors. However, switching some settings around on my own, I got some pretty amazing photos. The camera is incredible, and the lens that comes with it is great. I did my nephew's announcements with this camera and everyone is raving about them! I also have taken several landscape photos to use as artwork for my home, and they are beautiful! I cannot wait for bigger photo projects!

Fantastic SLR CAMERA bundle

got this set on a tripod and zoomed in on the bird feeder. I have been able to capture awesome bird in flight shots. The menu select is easy to learn and the lens combo is a wonderful combo for enthusiasts and experimenting with diverse subjects and scenery. i have not found any deal that rivals this packge or value.

Amazing Pictures ... BUT

I have been using this camera for about just over a year. I have used it in multiple scenarios uses that vary from portraits to landscape/wildlife. Now, the pictures I have taken with this camera are amazing in quality, color, tones, just about any criteria ... but (there's always a BUT)! Eventhough I am not a professional, I am not a newbie either and one of the biggest frustrations I've had is that sometimes it just wont shoot a picture no matter how many times or how long you push the shutter button, I've had to change the focus to stimulate the camera to take a picture which works on ocassions. It is really frustrating specially because some moments wont wait t'ill the camera wants to shoot the picture. It's even more frustrating when we ask somebody to take a picture for example my wife and I on vacation somewhere and having the camera on full auto function and when you ask that someone that kindly accepts to take that picture they'll press the shutter button and the camera WONT SHOOT!!! I hate it and have to end up apologizing to that someone who was doing us the favor. Then I grab it (still in full auto function) and still wont shoot no matter how many time you press the button. I've been forced to shut it down and turn on again which sometimes aleviates the problem of not shooting a bit and/or have to change focus (which changes the depth of field of course to maybe something I dont want to capture) but it helps in "stimulating" the camera to want to start shooting. I should add to this that I am one of those persons who take EXTRA CARE of stuff like this and have never exposed this camera to any damage whatsoever so I have no idea if this will go away or if I will have to live with it or if I will just have enough at some point if I happen to continue missing photo opportunities just because it doesnt want to shoot when I need to and hence end up selling it or trading or what ever .... Still, when it takes pictures, they are amazing! What a dilemma ......

Fun

I recently came to the realization that 35mm is becoming more of a hassle than pleasure and decided to get myself a low end DSLR for going out and traveling and general everyday use. The camera isn't a status symbol like the 5mkII but I'm excited and happy about it. I don't require much and really just wanted a reliable, small, lightweight camera that I could toss is my car. It's quick, performs great in daylight and alright in lowlight. The 55-250mm lens isn't super fast but it's fun for macro. The camera itself is super lightweight and it almost caught me off guard as I'm used to shooting with a Nikon D3x and D700 for work. It's a fun camera.

Read the Manual

If this is your first digital SLR take the time to read the manual, then go out and shoot some stills and video. Now go back to the manual with what ever issues you have. This camera is the real deal!

Good Choice for a Beginner

This is my first DSLR. I used to have a 35mm back in the day, but I've been using the point and shoots until recently. This camera is so easy to use .. in Auto mode, it's a big point and shoot, but try the other modes. I love the info tips on the screen, how quickly it takes pictures and the absolute quality of the photo's. The manual was ok, but could be a little better. Overall, very good camera, takes great pictures, easy to use and the flip out screen is great for videos!

Great buy

I bought this in December for my husband. He is still learning how to use the many settings but this doesn't mean he hasn't been taking great photos in the meantime. I searched online for a long time before deciding to go with Adorama. Shipping was fast, bundle was complete, and price was the best I could find for all that was included. I would certainly buy from them again. We are very happy with the camera, and the bundle makes it easy to get right out there to use it straight out of the box.

Superb Camera for the Price. Not Fast.

Fantastic camera. Incredible portrait shots when paired with the EF 50mm 1.4/f USM lens. The bundled 18-135mm lens is adequate. Honestly, I rarely use it. I stick to my prime lenses for the majority of my work. The tilt LCD is more useful than I had anticipated. I ends up being a very handy feature indeed when trying to get that above or below angle shot without a platform. Terribly slow to focus in Live View. There should be no reason the camera cannot focus as quickly when not using Live View. This is a programming issue and not a mechanical issue with the camera. Hopefully Canon will release an updated firmware to address this issue. I haven't played around with the video mode much. In general though, I would say it's not going to replace a dedicated video device. Just my two cents on the matter.

Perfect next step for the novice

The T3i was a step up from my PowerShot SX10is. Both are great cameras, but found that I had advanced to needing a remote shutter and interchangeable lens.

Excellent camera with some shortcomings.

Excellent camera, except for live view mode. Must remember to only depress shutter button half way until autufocus is sharp or photos not sharp. You can't just depress the shutter release all the way, this is a serious drawback on an otherwise good camera.

Perfect to grow and learn...

I'm not sure of my qualifications or ability to make a detailed review of this camera, but I love it and will do my best. Having only ever used a Canon PowerShot SD610 and cell phone cameras before, this was a huge leap for me. I was given this camera by my parents to ensure they receive quality photos of there grandchildren :) I use the camera primarily to take pictures of the kids and flowers/gardens. I have read through the manual and found it a great asset (I have written techmanuals and read a lot of manuals, and find this one to be very easy to use). With its use I have tried every mode on the dial and used the Q - Quick Control to try the different functions. With the exception of the "M" -Manual Exposure, I have taken great pictures (OK - Excellent/Awesome by my standards, the people on the photo blogs may disagree with my assessment of my photos:)). The video capability is truly amazing, but does require a fast card (class 6 and up). The Grandparents will be able to watch HD movies on their big screen. The weight is a bit hefty compared to the Point and Shoot but feels right in your hands. I have larger hands and the grips feel really nice even when holding the camera for extended time. in an extended session of taking portrait pictures the overhand grip did wear on me a bit. I have read that the battery grip that attaches to the base of the camera, allows for a more natural position when taking portrait. Battery life appears to be excellent, I have yet to have the battery fail on me when I need it, but I have only had the camera a short time. Time will be the judge of this. I did get a second battery (Canon clone, not OEM - part of this package). File size requires a SD card of decent size (Large .jpg High Quality = 6.4MB, RAW = 24.5MB) the camera is compatible with SDHC and SDXC cards (and according to some its compatible with the UHS-1 standards, but I have yet to confirm this), I use the 16 gig SDHC Class 10 (A-Data 16 GB Class 10 SDHC 10MB/s Flash Memory Card 16GSDHC10 (Blue) Part of this package). Live Mode (like a standard point and shoot - LCD screen shows image to be captured) is great for videos and can help when composing shoots from various angles (taking pictures of the dog near floor - without kneeling). There is even a Live Mode with facial recognition and tracking, chases my sons face all over and gives me the correct focus. The Live Mode was the only mode I figured I would be able to use, but I find the standard viewfinder eyepiece to be very easy to use and has all of the information you need. I plan to have this camera for years to come and hope to someday master all of the settings (high expectations). I feel this camera is the perfect match for my current ability (A+ Fully Automatic Shooting allows me to take excellent pictures while using the camera like a Point and Shoot) and my desire to become the photographic artist I hope to be. This package has everything you need to get started: - Kit includes the EF-S 18-135 IS lens which has meet and exceed all of my needs to date. - Sling bag - Well padded, comfortable to wear (though I have to admit it took me several tried before I figured out how you were suppose to wear it. A variety of zippered pockets for storing everything. Velcro main pocket walls for greater flexibly in how you store the camera and any accessories. - Cleaning kit: Comes with a screen protector (very nice) cleaning supplies and a blower. Nice little starter kit in a zip-able pouch. - Card reader: Small kind of cheap feeling reader, but effective, allowing you to read the card without expending your camera battery. The only down side I have to this is the battery charger that comes with the T3i (LC-E8E) it comes with a short power cord instead of the standard Canon flip out prongs. (the T3i can come with either the standard LC-E8 (flip out prongs) or the LC-E8E. The cord is not as convent to have to deal with and added another item to carry, and its too short to be truly effective. All in all a very minor complaint, and easily corrected in the aftermarket. Anyone thinking about make the change from Point and Shoot to dSLR should really consider this camera.
