Questions & Answers

Duncan M : How do I buy the right telephoto lenses?SUSAN J : I certainly would work with a Canon Camera professional . Depending on what your subject is and how you intend to use it. IE Wildlife, Far away subjects, etc. Also what your budget will be.WILLIAM T : Any telephoto lens that will fit a Canon EF or EFS mount will work. to find the right lens for your particular needs I would suggest talking with someone by phone or online with Adorama as they will be able to steer you through the large selection of lenses available.DENNIS C : That's a huge question with many right answers. If you're asking for specific lens recommendations, it depends on your particular photographic interests, your budget, the strength of your ambition for the highest quality pictures and your tolerance for physical burdens (the best, most powerful lenses are VERY heavy and VERY expensive). You'll have to find your own balance between price/quality/weight. One thing you might do is to read the customer reviews here at Adorama. You might also go to a physical camera store and try to milk the staff for insights, but be aware that their job is to sell the most expensive item they have in stock. Less biased and more knowledgeable sources are review websites like dpreview. Good luck and enjoy your new camera.DAVID M : Determine what focal length you want based on the type of shooting you will do. General purpose, wildlife, sports, etc. Once you have decided the focal range (such as 70mm - 300mm or 17mm-55mm, etc.) look for Canon lens or 3rd party lens (tamron, sigma, tokina etc.) that the T6s will accept.LOUIS F : buy the efs lens they are made for that camera's senser.DAVID A : That's a question that has a wide variety of answers. If you're a serious photographer do not go cheap. (I traded my T6s for a 7d2) To answer - if you're planning to graduate to full-frame sometime do buy EF lenses, not EF-S. I have the 70-200 2.8 IS II but before that I bought, and still have the EF-S 55-250mm F/4-5.6 IS STM and it was my go-to lens before I bought the 2.8. If you can't afford the 70-200 2.8, buy the 55-250 IS STM. I also have an EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and it's my on-the-camera all the time lens. (I see I can't quote pricing - so look them up)MIKE R : Hi, I also own a camera store this is a cropped sensor camera so it will take cropped sensor lenses and full frame lenses. so literally anything made for a Canon will work on this bodyWILLIAM K : What is your budget? How many lenses do you want to carry and keep changing on a photos shoot? I use the Tamron 18-270mm lens because I want one lens. It's a compromise lens that will do very well with this camera, which I own as well. For portraits I use a Canon 50mm prime lens, meaning 80mm for this camera.ALAN C : Any currently sold EOS lens will be compatible.
John M : Is there a noticeable difference in the sharpness of pictures taken with the T6s and other cameras in the Rebel line?SUSAN J : Yes, especially when shooting Night photos. But I can tell a difference in the quality. Hope this helps. I'm happy with my purchase and this is my 3 rd Rebel.DENNIS C : T6s and T6i maximum resolution is 24 megapixels, 6000 pixels wide; versus 18 megapixels, 5184 pixels in the T5 and SL1, the next sharpest. I expect that would be noticeable, with enough magnification. Note that the full image would require a display or print several feet wide at a normal viewing distance. That much sharpness is important to me but wouldn't be to many people. Note also that to take advantage of that kind of sensor resolution, you want a very good lens. I've upgraded to my first Canon L-series lens.JOAN R : I found the T6s to have a slight difference at first glance, but the increased pixles make more of a difference if you do a lot of cropping, as I do. I think the improved feature I love the most, is the program selector dial needs to be pressed before changing. With my older version, it was always turning on its own and I often would forget to check and then would have pictures with the wrong exposure.STEPHEN D S : You probably wouldn't notice it until you got up to a 16x20 print, and looked at it from 6 inches away. The chief advantage of the SL1 is its compact size. It is a dream for traveling and hanging around your neck all day. The T6s is a bit more advanced in features, and i'd choose it if you need them, but the SL1 is a delight! I use one professionally and nobody has complained about the results. The built-in 3 step auto contrast control is super!CHARLES M : I use the SL1. Haven't tried the T6s. But I am guessing that the most critical difference would come from the lens you choose, not so much the camera body.John T : Not a good question, too many variables. I use the T6i and the SL1, at ISOs 400 and under I see no real difference, At higher ISOs the T6i does give me better results. But, it also depends on which lens is in use, if tripod or monopod was used, if stabilization was on or off. I use the SL1 when weight is a consideration, the T6i for most of my nature and long lens use.SLOBODAN D : None with the T5, or T4. The only difference is the enhanced high ISO, which to many is not a deal killer, as it's a very small difference.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?WILLIAM K : best one at this price point. faster focus. more features than most others.

Awesome camera

Great camera to learn photography with. Sharp pictures and the Canon software gives great results. I love the new hobby and use the camera everyday. I looked for a couple of months before deciding on the T6S.

Very Poor Viewfinder!

I got this Canon Rebel T6S bundle 2 days ago. It does have a lot of nice features and if it were to be used inside only with the LCD screen as a view finder it would be pretty good. Outside is another matter a small dim viewfinder has the feel of an old front door peep hole. This pretty much makes it useless to me.

Awesome Camera!

I was a little bit apprehensive about buying a refurbished camera - but this came in seemingly PERFECT condition. I have had absolutely no issues, and for the money you save, this will be the best deal every time! Really love this camera - and I highly recommend it!

Multiple problems - never worked

Bought in June '16 to replace an older Canon EOS. Upon receipt, there were multiple issues that should've been caught by Canon before selling the product. It froze in multiple shooting modes and I even tried multiple lenses. The WiFi didn't work. The battery lost charge within a couple hours. The camera turned on but didn't shoot. I was very disappointed in the product and returned it for a refund. Just to clarify, this product is a refurbished camera. It is not new nor open box. I do not recommend this product.

A worthy change

I bought this camera as an upgrade to my T3i. After half a year of shooting I am glad I made the purchase. The Wi-Fi works well with some drawbacks in connecting to a PC and it cannot be used like a tether in viewing pictures as they are taken manually. The additional focusing changes and touch screen are both great upgrades that alone make this a great camera. As with any product it does not match or have all the features found in other models and brands that being said It exceeds my expectations for this level of a camera.

LCD Monitor is larger than advertised

The advertised 3" Pivoting Touchscreen LCD is actually about 3-3/16" diagonal. The 3" screen protectors that were included with this camera fit perfectly from bottom to top, but the width is almost 1/4" too short. I complained to Adorama about them being too short and they quickly sent me another (brand) package and they were too short also. That is when I realized the camera is actually larger and it was not the fault of the screen protectors. I guess all I can do is order a larger screen protector and cut it down to size. Enough about the LCD Monitor size. It is a very minor problem. I have not played around with this camera very much yet, but so far I think I will like it more than my previous Rebel xTi.

Software Malfunctions on TWO devices.

DO NOT buy this camera. I have had to replace one already and am sending the second one in for repairs. Software problems causing the auto focus not to work, the shutter will not release (with both AF and MF), and when switching to off to reset, camera remains on though in off position. Had the same problem in both cameras.

Great Camera, Awesome resolution

I bought a T3i back in 2012 and happy moving from a 4/3 system. I used it for 3yrs and found I was disappointed more often than not especially with live view focusing, probably my own fault for going with 3rd market lenses. After reading the reports I went with the T6s and couldn't be more pleased. Focusing is silent with the new STM lenses and live view is quick and spot on which is a must for video shooting. You can also control the camera from the touch screen. Moving up to almost 25mp your pics are sharp as a tack and the color rendition is life-like. The kit came with 18-135mm and 55-250mm STM and I completed the system with a 10-18mm STM wide angle. I have used after market lenes in the past and will not do that again, stick with the new STM's. Hope this was helpful in your decision making process

A Paradygm Shift in EOS Rebel Cameras

I recently bought a T5 and almost immediately realized I wanted a camera with more features. I read that the T6i and T6s would soon be coming out and after reviewing its features and features of other cameras felt that my best value per dollar would be the T6, I also decided that for the 100 dollar difference the T6s was warranted. I've been extremely happy with this camera, I love all of the features and specifications. I find only three cons with the camera, all livable. a. Even though the camera has Wi-Fi, they removed EOS Wi-Fi Utility mode which means 3rd party Wi-Fi applications will not work at this time. b. No GPS, I have the GP-E2 and rarely use it. I let Eye-Fi handle most of my urban GPS needs and GeoSetter and various smartphone Geo tracking applications to handle the rest. c. I don't like the dial moved from the top-right of the camera to the left, nor do I like the locking button in the center. But I'm getting used to the change.

An automatic wind noise elimination feature makes sure voices and music do not get drowned out by the sound of the wind blowing. Photographers who enjoy capturing wildlife will find the digital zoom useful because it helps extend the range of their lenses to capture subjects that are considerably further away. Plus, with the digital zoom, the photographer can record videos from a great distance without having to move from their position.

Remote Shooting & Wireless Printing
Wireless capabilities also allow users to use their compatible Smartphone's or tablets to remotely control the camera, which is useful for self-portraits and group shots or shooting from a distance as long as the camera is in wireless range.
