I use this lens primarily to take photos of the moon, birds, and landscape objects. My S2 IS at max telephoto is the equivalent of a 432mm lens on a 35mm camera. This conversion lens makes it the equivalent of a 648mm lens, making the subject 50% larger. To my uncritical eye, the quality of the pictures I get using this lens is as good as the quality of the pictures without it. This lens requires the use of a Canon conversion lens adapter, LA-DC58E with my camera. Since the adapter has a 58mm thread on it, I found it to be very useful to mount my closeup lenses, circular polarizer, and other filters when I'm not using the Teleconversion lens. (I haven't found any way to use filters with the teleconverter lens and I think it would be useful to be able to do so.) The vignetting effect seen when the camera is set at wide angle isn't always objectionable, and sometimes looks kinda arty. It's really easy to pop the lens off when using the wide angle, so the vignetting is not a big problem.

There was just not enough advantage for the price.

As usual it provides outstanding Cannon quality. Provides a great balance point for the camera. I hope this comment helps others, the comments at Adorama sure helped me in making the right decision.

I'm getting too old to run fast or climb trees, so I am really loving it. The 1.5x punches the camera's capabilities out to where I can 'catch-and-release' the bears, bison, elk, wolves, et al. It really does well in helping me "capture the now for the future." I also have a passion for photographing birds, particularly eagles and osprey, and it has enhanced that greatly. What can I say about it...just Wahoooo! I love it!

I think the Canon 1.5x Conversion Lens is a nice addition to the S3. Very clear lens produces very clear images. No aberrations that I can tell. Photos are sharp. Does magnify, but not as much as I thought. In a way, I believe the magnification already on the S3 is sufficient, but the little extra sure doesn't hurt.

Easily goes on and off for different needs, light enough to hold in one hand or slip in a pocket.

This Canon 1.5x Tele Conversion Lens brings the whole world close up for excellent quality photos. It's very easy & quick to attached and has fine quality optics for the buck. Add the Canon wide angle optional lens and you have at your finger tips a complete system that will capture any shooting situation.

Converts the focal length of the body lens by a factor of approximately 1.5 (35 mm film equivalent at maximum telephoto: approximately 648 mm) when attached.
Requires the Lens Adapter/Lens Hood Set LAH-DC20.
