It took awhile to figure this out. But I did get it to work. And worked flawlessly. The more I used it the easer it became to use. I was flying through my photos and getting them transferred to my iPhone.

Not having wi-fi capability on this body was a big disappointment when I purchase it a few years ago. Now I see that Canon figured out how to do it but does anyone else feel that they made one BIG mistake in designing it for the SD card and not the CF one? I can't put this device into the SD slot cause THAT IS WHERE MY PICS RESIDE!!

Bought it for my 5DS R. One annoying thing is that once the w-e1 is in the camera the USB port will not function when connected with a wire. Hope canon can enable wired connection while the card is in camera. Does not have a remote function when connected to mobile device. Wireless speed is ok. Wished canon would come out with a w-e2 with 802.11ac and Bluetooth function then it would be perfect

Purchased this because the adapter port on my wife's 7d mark ii quit working. Find out upon arrival that it apparently does not come with the updated firmware. Will now have to buy an adapter, because the camera can't use it until it is updated. Can't give it an official review until I can actually use it.

A bit difficult to get working initially and even when I tried the 2nd time. However once working, it does a good job of connecting to my iPhone. Was worth the price, just not quite as easy as expected. The instructions are 'fairly' clear--means have to play around a bit to finally connect.

Bought this for my wife as a christmas present to go along with EOS 7D mark II. In order to get it to work you have to download and install the latest firmware for the camera. The firmware install was super easy as the instructions provided by canon was really easy to follow. Once the camera's firmware was installed (10 min total the wifi adapter worked like a charm. I connected the camera directly to her iPhone for starters and that worked. The only thing I don't like about that particular method is that once connected it seems to be remote control from the phone only. I have not messed with it a lot so I could be missing something. What would be GREAT is if you could connect the phone to the camera and have photos transfer to the phone in real time. Next I connected the camera to my home network. This process was very simple, you just use the cameras menu to find, connect and input the PW for your network and it's on. I used my wife's new macbook pro to download the app from cannon. When you start the APP it automatically found the camera and connection was instant. This is my favorite method, because I can still take pictures with the camera while it's connected and it transfers the photos in real time. You can also control the camera with the MAC if you want remote control function, but in our business we just don't need that function. I can see a portrat photographer really using that feature though. Over all, I am super happy with the purchase, 1 week in.

My 7d mk2 didn't come with this wifi adapter so I got this just to see how it works. Now it is an important piece of gear. I can set up my camera anywhere and just sit out of sight and watch with my cell phone and get the picture I want without scaring off the subject (mostly wildlife).

I have a different brand of Wifi card in my other camera but, it is very slow to connect and doesn't stay connected. The Canon W-E1 Wifi card is lightning fast and stays connected. I am still learning all of the features but for now it has twice the performance at half the price of my old wifi card. One downside is I have lost the ability to save to two memory cards when I use the wifi card.

I really like this because I can send my photos right away to my iPad Pro so the workflow is a lot faster. I've been using it for portraits and it's really nice to see how the image looks. I don't mind using the app it comes with and upgrading the camera to the newest firmware was super easy. I'm a social photographer so this gives me the opportunity to quickly upload, edit and post my photos to Instagram! I know a lot of people have been sassy about using this but honestly if you are a techy then you won't have any issues while using this product. Just a heads up, connecting to WIFI can sometimes be difficult. But you just have to be patient.

The adapter appears to be doing what it is supposed to. I did not have a chance to shoot birds in my backyard using it yet but I installed it and tested the action. I need to get used to the fact that once it is installed and active it controls the camera through my cell phone and I should stay far away from the camera. It is different but I am sure I will be very happy.

It's perfect for travel and share my pictures. Is the perfect solution for a feature that should have been included in the Canon 7D mark ll

Nice add on to be able to download pictures from the camera onto my iPhone or MacBook. Can do live view shooting too. Was hard to set-up, had to do a firmware update of my 7D Mark II. Didn't work at first and got it resolved with Canon Customer Service. Their latest firmware release solved the problems I was having. Conclusion: nice accessory, set-up is too technical for someone not comfortable with updating camera firmware.

This is so much easier than using a USB cable. You just connect wirelessly to your device and the canon eos software pops up for the transfer. Really easy! And no more cable. It also gives you some remote control options that come in very handy. Definitely buy this!

Works great. A little limited in what it can do, but this should improve some with future updates. Great accessory, does what it's supposed to do. And, very affordable.

I initially bought this wifi card in order to give my customers a better view during headshots. I've tested it on my Canon M3 and 7DmII and they both performed perfectly. Any gripe I have is with Canon Connect software. I was hoping I could use my devices as a mirror of the camera display but the only option is transferring most of the controls to Canon Connect leaving your camera inoperable until you disconnect. Not a deal breaker though. I can really see how it will provide many benefits otherwise. Like doing ground level shots from my 7DmII with my iPhone. Can't wait.

Everytime I had to take a group photo I used to click the timed shutter and run to join the group. Now I use my smartphone to do such things.

This card requires a complex series of updates to the camera to work and Canon does not offer all of the software required for the latest version of Mac Sierra OS. Maybe experience will change once that is available but until the EOS Utility 3.5 or higher is available for the latest version of Mac OS this card is useless with my brand new 7d Mark II.

If you like to shoot tethered, this is the same thing but without the cable. You can use the EOS software on your computer or smart phone and have instant access to the images you take, and you can control the camera. the only Con I have is that it does chew on the power, but nothing is for free.

have already given a review on this item, but received and email to submit a review; so copied and pasted it again. Purchased this card to use in a 7d2 and have been pleased with it so far. Have only had it for a couple of weeks, but seems to do well. Gave it 4 stars because if you didn't purchase the 7d2 version that came with it already; you need to upgrade the firmware; which I had to call Canon to assist with. They did well helping me through the firmware upgrade; going step-by-step. The connection to my phone seems a little lag, albeit not bad :) It really works. Walked into a local camera store with the camera and phone and asked the associates' opinion about the minor delay; they said it didn't seem too sluggish to them, and was infact, pleasantly surprised it worked so well. Said it was better than their gopro camera with wifi and far out-shines the eye-fi SD cards, except for not actually having any record ability. If you want to record Images/video, you will need to purchase a 'Compact Flash' card to record onto. Have been able to download pics onto the computer easily with the EOS Utility 3 software; which also needed to be installed in the computer.

Expand the capabilities of the already powerful EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras to include Wi-Fi capability with the optional Wi-Fi Adapter W-E1 accessory.
The same size and shape as an SD card, the W-E1 fits easily into the SD card slot to enable wireless communications with compatible smartphones, tablets and computers through dedicated apps. It opens up a wide range of possibilities for remote operation, including adjustment of camera settings and focus, plus shutter release for comprehensive camera control up to 32.8 feet away.
Photos can be reviewed and transferred easily to a computer or compatible smart device, as can MP4 video stored on the EOS 7D Mark II. Simple to install and use, the W-E1 helps to deliver the convenience and benefits of Wi-Fi while significantly enhancing the creative potential of both you and your EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS or EOS 5DS R camera.
SD card-shaped Wi-Fi accessory designed strictly for use with the EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R Digital SLR cameras
The Wi-Fi Adapter W-E1 is shaped like an SD card to easily insert in the SD card slot of the EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras in order to provide Wi-Fi capabilities. With the W-E1 installed in the SD card slot, a CompactFlash card must be installed into the camera's dedicated CF card slot in order to record and store images. The W-E1 is currently only compatible with the EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R cameras.
Wi-Fi capability provides easy transfer of images (and videos in MP4 format for the EOS 7D Mark II camera) to a compatible smartphone or tablet, and remote still photo shooting and camera still photo setting changes.
When inserted into the SD card slot of the EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 5DS or EOS 5DS R camera, the Wi-Fi Adapter W-E1 provides the convenience and benefits of Wi-Fi capability when paired with a compatible smartphone or tablet that has the Camera Connect mobile app installed. These Wi-Fi functions include the ability to change camera settings on the fly, shoot still images remotely, as well as view and transfer images and MP4 videos. For fast and reliable communication, the W-E1 supports Wi-Fi standards of 802.11b/g/n at 2.4GHz with a range of up to 32.8 feet.
Provides Wi-Fi capability with a computer using EOS Utility and enables remote shooting of still photos and quick setting changes, as well as easy transfer of images and videos.
Ideal for working in the studio or on location, the W-E1 helps wirelessly enable SLR operation directly from a computer using Canon's EOS Utility software. It facilitates camera operations such as AF and setting changes as well as shutter release for still photographs, and also enables transfer of still photographs and MP4 movies stored on the camera's CF card.
