Questions & Answers

Shopper : I am transferring JPEG & Raw files, do I really need USB 3 or will 2 be sufficient? ?MICHAEL B : 3 will work better and faster if your computer has one. Otherwise it is not needed.DAVID B : Here are two factors that come into play here... 1) Computer capability- Does your computer support USB 3.0? 2) Camera resolution- are you shooting with a camera sensor over 15-16 megapixels? If yes to both, then USB 3.0 will be a lot faster transferring your shots and I say it's worth the $$ uptick.PETER M : Sorry I don't know the answer to that.Shiv V : USB 3 is backward compatible so it is best to get a faster card reader even if your PC only has USB 2. There is no real difference in price so go for the USB 3STEPHEN P : This will speed up you transfer times. As long as your PC/laptop supports USB3 and you are looking at getting a new reader it is worth the price. I found that I had to have an external power source for it to work. The internal power from the USB port did not permit the reader to operate. Once I plugged in another power supply it worked fine. Might just be my laptop. As to whether you really need it depends on if the current transfer times are unbearable.DEREK G : Depends on how many photos you download at a time and how patient you are. USB 2 will certainly do the job but I noticed a significant reduction in the time to download using USB 3. Remember that you also need a USB 3 port on your computer to take advantage of this reader.RODRIGO S : You can still use your USB2.0 but USB3.0 is way faster so long that your laptop or computer has USB3.0 port (has blue color USB port). Hope this helps. MARVIN S : Depends on how many photos are involved. I find a very signicant advantage to USB 3.0. My files are large and numerous. RANDY C : USB 2 will work fine - a 3 would be 59% fast probably.Ryan B : USB 3.0 can transfer files up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 (in theory). In practice, it's usually at least 4 or 5 times faster, but sometimes more. The transfer of JPEG won't make much difference between the two. RAW file transfer will benefit greatly from using 3.0, but it is not necessary. If you don't mind waiting a little bit and you're not transferring files all the time, then go with USB 2.0.LYMAN K : Two Fridays ago I waited on hold 1-hr,25-minutes to place an order with you. No one answered.OPHER K : It is much faster if your computer also supports USB3.OPHER K : It is much faster if your computer also supports USB3.BARRY M : It depends on how much time you are willing to wait. Most importantly make sure your computer has USB 3. If it doesn't it won't matter that the reader is USB 3 & it will only transfer data at USB 2 speeds.CHARLES B : i've been using this card reader on a USB 2 PORT and it seems to work perfectly well.APRIL W : USB 2 is perfectly adequate for transferring image files. USB 3 just lets you do the same thing as USB 2 but faster - so you can transfer more files in less time, which is a huge convenience for photographers important thousands of files from a long day of shooting. Unless you are transferring many files or very large files or are just tired of waiting for them to complete copying, USB 2.0 should be sufficient for you.ALAN E : USB 2.0 is probably fine. But if you're buying a new device why not get one for the most current standard.
Coy N : Will this reader read a 32G card?RODRIGO S : Yes - no problemPETER M : We are only using a 16G card in ours so I am sorry I can't help with the 32G question PeteLARRY H : Can't answer for sure, I don't think havd a 32G card. Yes I think it should!LYMAN K : Maybe the reader is O.K. Maybe I don't know how to use it. I haven't used my 32G card yet. I'm still using my 2GB card. Sometimes I need to fiddle with the reader to make the blue light stop blinking before using. Every time, after successfully transferring photos I am warned I haven't ejected properly. That I should "finder, file, eject," to avoid damage. I've never located this direction. I've never noticed any damage, either. My computer is a new iMac.GARY M : Wish I could answer the question , I could never get mine to work! GaryFRED C : A 16gb is the largest I have used. It worked great.WILLIAM P : Yes. JOHN N : yes, I use a 64gb sd card with this as well as a 64gb micro SD card. I also use my 128gb card with it as well. hope this helps! Joseph G : No problem reading 32G cardsMICHAEL B : Yes and moreJOYCE J : Yes it will. I use them in my collection of cards. 16,32.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?KATHERINE K : Universal card acceptanceKATHERINE K : Universal cards accepted.Roger T : Because of the reviewsJOHN M : Quality, price and fast delivery from Adorama! Always great service!LARRY H : to transfer pictures to my photo files

Lightweight junk

Cable is also very poor quality. This is a ($) value in my opinion. I returned it.

Doesn't reliably read CF cards

Piece of junk. Bought to replace 10 year old SanDisk reader that is a bit slow these days. I didn't notice much of a bump in speed and 50% of the time I get an error message that the CF card can't be read or the images can't be imported. So then I have to use the old reader. And of course I tossed the packaging, so now I can't return it. Not happy.

It works

I've only used it a couple of times, but it worked great on my Mac, with OS 10.6.8. I use it to download photos from my Sandisk memory cards. I only use one size of card, and didn't need the extra ports, but the Belkin was still a better deal than one that would only accept one size of card. My files are usually in RAW format and they downloaded very fast with the Delkin, much faster than the one I had before, which would also give me error messages that I had not ejected the disc correctly. This isn't a problem with the Delkin.

Useful Card Reader

The reader works for all of the various cards for different cameras. I have 3 different ones and all work great and are fast at transfering data from the camera to the computer. Much better than direct connect camera to computer.

No brainier

I recently purchased a Nikon D7100 & needed a SD card reader, but my other Nikon uses CF cards. The fact that this is a universal card reader and had USB 3.0 made this a no brainier for me.

Very Good

I use this for downloading 16gb compact flash cards to Lightroom from my 7D. Lightroom recognizes the card as a device, which is nice rather than thinking it's a typical removeable drive like some do. Downloads reasonably quickly especially considering I'm still on USB 2.0. It's well built and not very big so I have no concerns about taking it on a trip. I'm using Delkin cards with it so I expected it to work, but it also read a Kingston card that none of my other readers would. So far it's the best card reader I've used.

Decent card reader made of cheap plastic

I use this reader to transfer photos from my Compact Flash cards to my Mac. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package is how thin and cheap the plastic housing feels. So far, I haven't had any problems and it has worked great, but I'm not sure how long it will last.

this is my second card. many card readers mess up the prongs when using an sd card ( built in card readers, wallmart card readers, even best buy card readers. The slot for sd on the delkin is deep enough to allow the card to slide in lined up with the prongs every time. If i needed a third, I'd buy delkin.
