Awesome product...short life
I have been through 3 of these now. I shoot 40 weddings a year and hundreds of portraits. So I thought this would be great! It was and is...but over a few months, slot by slot would no longer work. Then the external hook up device from the piece that connects the usb cord, has come loose on each one and became non-functional and have thrown away. To me..they are poorly/cheaply made.
But when they worked, they saved hours of uploading time. Hoping that the reason for the backorder on these is that they are finding a way to improve the body.

Great device - not a waste of money!
Contrary to the suggestion in "Waste of Money" this device works perfectly well with Lightroom. You drag the drives from Windows Explorer into the Lightroom Library, and all pictures on those drives will be copied/referenced as desired. Performance is good (I'm replacing four Lexar Pro Firewire drives) and I suspect reliability will be better (one device instead of four).

Don't know what I did before.
Load and walk away. When you come back your files are downloaded. Worked so good I bought another to Piggyback.

Don't Bame the Reader
Don't blame Delkin for Lightroom's shortcomings. Image processing software that can handle multiple cards (such as Photo Mechanic) work great with this unit. It is indeed bulky, which makes pairing it with my non-Firewire laptop less than ideal. But it is a better alternative than bringing 4 USB readers along. It's a bit slow for a UDMA reader, barely faster than the top non-UDMA readers out there.
