The worst part of this scanner is the difficulty getting it to run and stay running. The bundled software doesn't work with 64-bit Vista straight out of the box. When that problem was finally solved, the unit didn't work mechanically. Returned the device to Plustek, and the replacement unit worked for 22 slides. Averaged net scanning rate: 1 slide/day. On the bright side, the scans that it did complete were excellent.

I Have trays of slides from all over the world and many, many packs of negatives. My goal is to have them all converted by the end of summer. It will now be easy to set them up on a DVD and watch.

It's quite fast unless you use the bundled software SilverFast that is included. It's slow but very good with many options. Doing thousands - one must use the Quick Scan.
