Product died within 30 days. Tried contacting support but product not listed. Left review and they contacted me to resolve. Gave them all of the information, including a purchase receipt and never hear back after. So now I know product service is just as bad as the product itself. Well at least they now flood my inbox with product ads.

This thing is small, fast, and large capacity. The spinning hard drive on my brother's iMac was going bad. Before it could totally go belly up we installed the latest OS on one of these, migrated his data on to it, and then booted from it without any problems. The machine is operating just as fast as before because of the USB 3 interface. Since he lives in a small town, he is running off of it until he can visit me in the big city to get an internal SSD drive installed inside his machine.

I work in the Seafood Industry, and I used my 1TB Drive all the time over the past 3 years, the only problem I have had is with the cable, which was easily replaced. More recently I left my drive in the pocket of my jeans, and it went through the wash, after 45 minutes in the heavy wash cycle, I thought I had lost all my data, but after allowing it to dry for 24 hours it still works fine! I think I will have to get another one as a backup but will continue using it until it dies. Absolutely great product!

Really bad drive, I bought 2 of these, one for me and 1 for my wife, we store and backed up all our information after 1 month and 1.5 months both drives were not responsive and not recognized by any of our computers, called customer service received 2 RMA and received e-mail that both drives were received and approved and replacement would be issue, we are looking now at 3-4 months and no replacement drives. Called 2 months ago and was told the replacement was on hold because they were not in stock, after talking to the representative was told I would be upgraded?? to a different model in stock and would be shipped promptly-NOTHING, today was told 24-48 I would get a response I doubt this is true. very disappointed and the replacement drive that is been offer is the same that is terrible in reviews with many consumers complaining about the same issue of not working. Hope Sandisk stand up for their quality commitment and make it right@

Hi Folks, I bought a SanDisk Extreme® Pro Portable 4TB External SSD-Drive in germany when it came to the market. Because my Mac I use for advertising works only has 500 GB. It was the way best decision of my live.I hate sitting in front of a machine watching the pizza rolling. The SanDisk Extreme® Pro Portable 4TB External SSD-Drive is as fast as the internal SSD on the Mac and never ever caused any problems. And I do carry the piece from one office to another. My complete Data is on this SSD Drive. I only wish there will be a 10 to 16 TB version of it. Thanks for that.

Stores data? Check Fast read/write? Check. Not the best I own. Stops the computer from even loading to the BIOS on restart? Check. That last one negates the rating of every other thing. If you use the encryption on these drives, WD has some code that stops the computer from booting at all. You absolutely have to disconnect the Extreme Pro to start up your computer. I've never seen anything like it before. I even changed the BIOS to make the internal drive the only option. It doesn't matter since the computer can't even get to the BIOS. Never will I ever buy WD again.

Just finish testing the 2TB SSd and it performed beautifully. Recording both Audio and video in landscape and portrait in 4K 60 fps. very pleased with the test results, BUT

I've had two of these and both have suffered corruption problems from unexpected forced ejections from my computer, even when it has not been disconnected. As a wedding photographer this is unacceptable and is far too big of a risk for the price. These hard drives are pure garbage and I will probably never buy a Sandisk product again.

I've had 2 of them for quite a while, but on 5/24 my main one was wiped out, no clue on how it happened, it was fine the night before when i tuned off my system. At this time it requires me to format so i can access it. Im running a recovery program since it contains files that i need. Im very happy with it, till 5/24.

It is kind of sad when you buy a next generation SSD for a late 2015 IMac. While editing in Lightroom suddenly it was disconnected and from then on it disconnects every 30 minutes from the computer. I don't know what happened, but it was very annoying and it was difficult to recuperate the Lightroom catalog. Maybe it's the fault of the USB-A to USB-C adapter. On the other side it works well with the MBP with original USB-C connectors.

This has been a great product for me. I have been able to to quickly consolidate all my old videos, photos, and files into one drive. It's incredibly fast, very happy about that! This is my second purchase of this drive. I got one for my Wife first and now have gotten one for myself. Highly recommend!

I was unable to use my photo library that I loaded on the SanDisk 4 Tb Extreme SSD as the "system library" on my new iMac 24" desktop. I have always stored my video and photos and worked with them from an external drive. But now after much discussion and help from Apple Support I was not able to download any new files to the portable SSD. I finally had to move everything to the computer's storage as my "system Library". Perhaps I got the wrong tech. for help. It seems crazy that this is the reality of the situation. If someone from SanDisk could reach out, please do.

Please explain under what conditions you get 2000MB/s. Just do that in your advertising to be transparent. I have hooked several of these up to the latest Macs using Thunderbolt 4 cables and they don't even get to 1000MB/s using AJA System Test to check speeds.

I bought this because it was SSD, small and compact and appears very durable. I used it for less than a week and it crashed. I moved some files over to the external hard drive then all of a sudden it is telling me I have to format the drive to use it. I chatted with support and they wouldn't reimburse me to try and restore my documents. Then he argued that he wouldn't refund me for the defective product and wouldn't replace the defective one I have. What is the point of the warranty? They said they would do an RMA and replace but it would cost me to ship it to them. Worst customer service ever. I will not be buying any of their products again since they don't seem to stand behind their product. I have also been reading that all these SanDisk SSD drives have been failing and there are lawsuits involved. Stay away from this product.

I got 2 SanDisk - Extreme Pro Portable 4TB External USB-C NVMe SSD - Black in Feb 2023. Might have been the first version? Cost me over $827. Both died within 10 days. I lost my project. Took 2-3 more months to get the replacements. But I have YET to open the boxes or to use them because of fear. The price has come down drastically. My question: Has the problem been fixed? If not, I'm just gonna sell them before too late. Thank you.

I bought this 4tb SSD in November '23 and in March '24 my Mac won't even recognize the HD. Called for support and after 20 minutes of really basic troubleshooting they said to send it back for a replacement. I feel very uncomfortable sending my drive back even though is not readable in any of my computers, iPads because it has a full backup of my laptop. Really bad quality and not worth it the money for the risk of losing everything

These drives are known for sudden, catastrophic failure. After light use after a few weeks to a couple years, they will suddenly not mount and no longer show as being connected. WD / SanDisk needs to recall all these drives, issue an apology and offer free data recovery services for all those who have lost data using these drives. I used to trust WD implicitly. I am a WD stock investor. This is the worst handling of a defective product that I have witnessed in my life. You have been warned.

I wanted to love these drives. I purchased two 2 TB versions in November of 2023.. They're lightweight, and oh so portable! Unfortunately, after using them for a few months, transferring data between my iPad, iPhone and Windows 11 PC, the PC, the phone and the iPad now have trouble loading the data. It sits and takes forever to load data from these drives, no matter which device I'm trying to read them with. I reformat them and occasionally that will help for a brief time. Very disappointed.

In recent months, I've employed the SanDisk 4TB for storing video files, but unfortunately, I've run into an issue with file corruption. As I played the videos, I observed banding and digital glitches in some of them. Curiously, the original sources didn't display this problem. Adding to the complication, when I extracted files from a zip archive on the same drive, they also experienced corruption. To address this, I had to redownload the files from my cloud backup to another drive, overwriting the affected files. Regrettably, this solution didn't consistently resolve the problem. Seeking assistance, I reached out to tech support, only to be informed that it was a Windows-related issue, and they were unable to provide help. It's worth noting that this isn't a Windows problem, as other drives on the same computer are not exhibiting the same issue.
