Questions & Answers

Shopper : Can you use this memory card reader with the MacBook Pro?THOMAS D : Use mine with a canon camera not sure about your MacILYA M : Thanks for asking as my memory about that card reader brought me only frustration. OK you can use it with any computer as its purpose for, but it very fragile. The pins inside bent very easily and after this it is good for nothing may be to make a key chain lock. That's all IMALAN G : Yes, it works very well with a MacBook Pro.ANDREW B : Yes
Shopper : Does the strange angled silver base come off the main white body?BRIAN R : Ye, it's just a magnet.LINDA L : The base does separate from the main body so it is an optional piece of equipment.DAVID F : Yes. I don't bother at all with the base and haven't used it since I got the card reader. By the way, the reader works very well, as have the past Image Mates, although now, with USB3, A heck of a lot faster.RICHARD A : Yes, there is a metal plate at bottom of reader that came unglued. With a little super glue problem resolved. Outside of this issue no problems. Nice reader. Hope this answers your question.JACKIE B : Yes; it is magnetizedDAVID E : Yes it does, it is actually held in place by a magnet. Very poor base because it will not set on the desk unless you play with the usb cord. I do not use the base anyway. The USB 3.0 is pretty fast.CHRISTOPHER N : Yes, it does. It is held on by rare-earth magnets, and pops right off.DANIEL N : Yes, (fortunately!) it does. It attaches magnetically, but is pretty useless for this reader if you ever actually use it. A heavier flat design would have worked much better, I think.JOEL T : Yes it is held to the reader by a magnetic strip. Actually it is a bit flakey....but the unit is just fine and worked for both SD and CF cards. In engineering terms it a 'class 2 unstable column'...LOL I used it with and w/o the base since the connecting cable is not very flexible and tended to pull the upright over. If you keep the packaging it helps to keep the unit upright. Pretty compact for travel also JoelPATRICE K : Yes . In fact , i never use the silver holder . I have to say I love this card reader , it is my second one , one for the studio/office and one for home .JAMES V : Yes! In fact I don't even use it. I got some rubber feet and put them on the reader so it would lay flat on my desk. IMOP the stand is useless.WAI-KEUNG N : there is a magnet to hold the white piece and the silver piece together. Personally, I don't use the silver piece at allCHARLES I : Yes it does.JACKIE B : Yes, the silver legs are attached by a magnetic charge. They detach very easily.ALAN G : Yes, it does. It's a ridiculous little stand and I haven't ever used it. But, I really like the reader.SUSAN M : Yes. I do not use the little silver stand.TIM P : Yes, you can remove the stand from the card reader. When delivered the stand was not attached.FIRAS E : Nope it doesn't come off. There is a very strong magnet on the base and on the bottom of the reader that keeps them together that's why they don't come off each other.TIM P : Yes it does. I have not used the stand.BARRY M : Yes it does.
Shopper : Will this reader work with the SanDisk Extreme 3?LEONARD K : I have used it with the SanDisk Extreme IIi with no problem. It worked just fine.H. H : Not very happy with it, sometimes it does not load images. It works whenever it wants to...I wasted my money>Kahmyong M : Yep! I use it with a number of my Extreme III cards.JIM W : This shouldu work just fine for those cards.Patrick B : The SanDisk ImageMate All in one usb 3.0 Menory Card Reader is a great tool. It's faster than most card readers.DAVID E : I am using the card reader for Extreme III and Extreme IV. I wanted faster downloads from my cards and this was the answer. It is also backward compatible with 2.0.CHARLES N : I had 2 of these and i sent them both back. They both broke. I bought 2 lexar from you. They are good.JAMES C : Probably very quickly...CHUCK S : It will work with anything. The more important question is does your PC support USB 3.0? If not, you're spending more than you need. Get the $13 Kingston USB 2.0 reader instead.

Fast and Easy to Use

No problems...reads a CF card very quickly. Stand is easy to lose, though, since it's just a magnetic attachment....would probably be better if it were a snap on. Other than that very satisfied with purchase.

Does the job!!

I was looking for a card reader, and based on the reviews I decided to buy it, it does the job, it has an slick design, and I was able to keep mine standing up, although is very light weight but it doesn't bother me.

Works great but magnetic base unreliable

I got this reader to be a permanent fixture at my photography workstation. I like this reader. It's fast, with the latest USB protocol, and looks cool. I found however that the supplied USB cable is rather stiff, such that the reader won't stay put on the tripod base because it's attached by magnet. The ferrous strip wasn't seated well on my instance so maybe that's why. Either way the product needs a little more work either in design or their quality control. That being said this is one of the fastest readers on the market and I do like the way the rest of it is built.

Useful

Someone asked, "Does the strange angled silver base come off the main white body?" Yes, it does. In fact I find it easier to take it off and lay it down on its side for use. It's a little light to stand up very well when inserting or removing cards.
