Questions & Answers

Shopper : how many photos will it hold? How much video?NILANJAN B : Shooting RAW on my D700 it will hold about 280 pictures. Would not know about the video thoughDOUGLAS H : Sorry, but the only way to answer tho question is to do the math for your own camera. If you're shooting the newest pro still cameras at full resolution in RAW, it might only hold a hundred photos. If you're shooting a point-n-shoot at medium resolution, it might hold 1600 photos.GEORGE K : it depends on quality and compression method. you need more info to answer the question.KENNETH E : This card holds a LOT of photos. It depends on the exact choices on size / quality. A typical high quality jpg photo is maybe 2 Mb , 8Gb is 8000 Mb, so it could hold up to 4000 photos. My camera doesn't take video, but try doing the same calculation on what Mb size of file 1 min of video has. Then divide it into 8000 Mb to see how many min you can get on the card. Also look at your current memory card size. Divide 8Gb by how many Gb you have now to how many times more it will hold. For example if you now have a 2Gb memory card, 8 + 2 = 4, so it would hold 4 times as much video. Which means if you can get 30 min now, it would hold 2 hr (120 min). I hope this rambling on helps.
Brenda B : How many pictures will this card hold?GEORGE I C : Theoretically the calculation should be simple. Figure out how much total space is utilized by each image then divide 8GB (8,000 MB) by this figure and it will give you the number of pictures. If each image occupies 20MB then you would theoretically be able to get 400 pictures. In practice you won't have the full 8GB available because some space is used for other purposes. Some cameras shoot a combination of RAW, JPEG, or TIFF so you may need to add the total from more than one file type when calculating the ammount of space each image will occupy on your memory card.JOSEPH R : It depends. Check your camera's user manual and there will be a chart for different sized SD cards vs file formats, specific to that camera. My canon point & shoot SD4000 IS 10.0 MP in the file format that takes the most space (Large JPEG) will hold 3,000 pictures on this 8GB card. As a general rule of thumb the higher the Mega Pixels(MP) the fewer the pictures will fit on a given SD card.CHARLES R : I shoot weddings and portraits in raw. Shooting with a Sony A500, I get about 610 images on a 8GB card.TIMOTHY S : Um ... about 8GB worth! But seriously, there is not an answer for this question because it all depends on the MP of the camera and what file type you choose to use. It's a great card and well worth the purchase, that's all that really matters, you can sort the quantity issues out once you get it.TARA C : it depends on how large a file you shoot -- if you shoot RAW, you will hold less pictures, because each picture takes up a lot of space, maybe up to a few Gigs. So far i shot "large JPG" quality files. so they are somewhat smaller than RAW files. on that setting it held about 400 pictures. Good luck!
BRIAN S : Is this a "Class 4" disk?GEORGE K : yesALAN K : noWILLIAM F : The "4" inside the "C" indicates that this card is, in fact, a "Class 4" SD Card.IRVING S : Yes it is, the large C with a 4 inside, indicates the class of the card.IAN J : It has a class 4 designation on it.JOSEPH R : Yes, it is a class 4 as indicated by the C that encompasses the 4 on the lower left side.

Happy Customer

After years of buying only from LEXAR, i tried a SanDisk product. I bought it for use in a Samsung HZ35W camera. The Samsung was the number three camera behind a Nikon D200 and a Panasonic Lumix G-1 for a trip to the Highlands SingSing in Papua New Guinea. The card and camera performed flawlessly and outperformed the Panasonic.
