CAREY H : Epson 11000XL scanner: system requirements only list Windows versions through Win7. Is it compatible with Windows 8.1?William M : I have no idea about Windows of any version. I run the Epson 11000xl scanner on My Macbook Pro laptop,MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, using OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. Runs great on my Mac.
CAREY H : Is the scanning bed on the Epson 11000XL scanner flush with the area around it? Raised ridges next to the glass throw oversized originals out of focus. I need a scanner that will let an oversized painting sit flush on the glass while I scan it piece by piece.ISABEL Z : It is raised along the left hand side about an 1/8th of an inch where the ruler is. Otherwise it is flush on the other 3 sides.WENDY B : There is a very small lip on the left side of the platen so your object to scan wont lie completely flat. Otherwise, it is a great scanner!LELAND G : No, the glass is not flush with the outer frame of the scanner. The height of the frame is about .1875" above the glass on both sides. So it seems to be even. I use it for oversized canvas scans, and when I use Photoshop to combine the multiple images, I can not see any focus variations.ADAM W : No, there is a slight lip and it is not flush.ROBIN S : I have not had any trouble with oversized images being distorted. The glass is not exactly "flush" with the sides, but there is a slight angle from the glass to the frame, which probably helps. It's an amazing scanner. I love it!WILLIAM H : The glass is flush on the front edge, but the left and back side is a guide edge for the art to push against and the right side is a ridge also. Depending on your art you may be able to let the front side hang over and then turn it around the other way for the other side. I also have a publication with very large paintings that I can't scan and will have to get photographed. This scanner does great for the old fashioned paste ups. I use the Silverfast software that came with the scanner and adjust the settings depending on the art, some of which is getting old and faded. So as far as large artwork you won't be able to lay it completely flat unless it fits inside the dimensions left to right which is about 17 1/2 inches. Again, the front side (epson name tag) you can have the art be flush and hang out that way. Also the silverfast software has an autofocus feature. I use it to scan oversized pieces and it's great.JANET A : Yes, it is flush. it is excellent for your purposes, although I have found there is sometimes a tiny discrepancy in sizing of pieces, which has made it tricky on drawings with superfine lines to "knit" the sections. For my paintings, it has been excellent.
