Amazing Scanner

Love this scanner. It scans multiple pages, both sides, super quick. The image quality once the image or document is digitized is perfect! :)

Not compatible with newest 5G wifi routers

I bought this scanner for our business. We have had Epson scanners in the past for years. Our internet provider recently upgraded our router and modem and they no longer provide separate 2.4gHz access. This scanner is NOT compatible with the new 5 gHz routers. I returned it after a frustrating experience with technical support ( both Epson and our internet provider). The return process was not simple. The representative was rude and they have a policy of not providing shipping. This is absurd. I should've just bought from Amazon instead of going to Epson direct. I won't purchase from Epson again.

Inefficient for Law Firm Needs

I wish there was an option to scan everything at once and just save them separately. That way we don't have to scan, save, scan, save, scan save, we could just scan, and then save save save save.

Unbelievably efficient

I have been using a MFP with auto-document feeder for years. I finally decided to try this and it is great. Simple interface. VERY clear double sided scans. Happy I clicked "buy".

Fastest scanner on the market

I brought this scanner to scan loan documents and it has exceeded my expectations. The scanner scans fast, the pages are clear, and I love the fact that I can create a pdf and send it to the signing company in a few clicks.

A Must Have for Small Offices

The WorkForce ES-500W II has simplified my home office scanning. The Intuitive Epson ScanSmart Software allows me to preview, email and upload my documents to my cloud account effortlessly. I am not an organizer and this feature along with ability to create searchable PDFs saves me a lot of frustration. The best feature is the Duplex Scan feature. It saves me time by scanning both sides of the documents in one scan. No more re-scanning the same pages. This scanner also has a 50 sheet auto document feeder which frees me from having to sort & load as with my old scanner. I love how quickly this scanner works. Time is money. The size of the scanner is perfect for a home office or small business office. It occupies very little space and has a modern design. For the simplicity of software, the scanner features and the design, I rate it an A+. High Quality Scanner!

This Epson DS 500 Workforce ES-500 is an amazing scanner. I have used alot of different scanners and none compare to this king of all scanners. Its the perfect size and weighs only 8 pounds. Its a perfect fit on my desk and so fast. It was super easy to set up and scans 35 pages per minute. I didnt have any problems setting it up and amazed at the speed and quality of the prints. Super Duper Scanner

There is scanners and then there is a amazing scanners. This scanner is definitely the latter. At about 8 pounds this scanner packs an awesome punch. Through Covid I am needing to work a lot more from home and lack scanning capabilities so had to make a trip to the library or UPS anytime I need scanning. Needless to say this isn?t the most convenient of situations, but better then being in the office. So when this came about I was super excited to give it a try. The size is great for my little makeshift desk area. Scanning is super quick at 35 pages per minute (holding 50 pages), and great quality scans (for an affordable scanner option of its size) and it is wireless. Setup was super simple and easily was compatible it took me about 5 min to fully setup. The duplex scanning capabilities was also a nice extra bonus. This is well worth the amount and perfect for any at home office. Great Scanner

I recently got the Epson WorkForce ES-500W II to try out. I was a little worried about the wireless feature but I ended up surprised with how well it worked for me despite being 2 rooms away. I was also very happy to use my Android phone to scan documents. The Android app was simple and easy to work with. Epson outdid themselves by making this scanner mobile phone friendly. ?This is a review for the Epson ES-500WII Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.?

Heck of a mobile scanner!!!0

I tried out the Epson WorkForce ES-500W II as part of a beta test. I really didn't expect much until I read what the scanner could do. I was ecstatic that I could perform mobile scanning from my phone. This was extremely helpful when I am not at my desk. The photos and documents I scanned both from the actual scanner and from my Note 10 were crystal clear and quickly uploaded. I even scanned some old WWII aerial photos and the color or lack of. You couldn't tell it was scanned. ?This is a review for the Epson ES-500WII Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.?

Fast, high quality, love the wireless capability!

This scanner is great! It produces high-quality scans of different types - I've used it for regular documents, greeting cards, photographs, and even to back up IDs & credit cards. There's a document feeder and a tray to catch the scanned items, both of them fold/slide away when not in use. The software is easy to use and has menus to dig further into the settings to do advanced customization. It can be used wired (with supplied USB-A cable) or wirelessly. I set up the wireless scanning with my phone & my MacBook - both were easy and straightforward. Scanning wirelessly is super-convenient, as it allowed me to keep the scanner on the other side of the room from my computer where I have more space for it. The scanning/transferring speed didn't seem any slower on my network than when it was plugged in directly. All in all, it's a great scanner - very fast, high quality, small footprint. Perfect for my home use-case. This is a review for the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Fast and effective

This Epson Ds 500 W II scanner is perfect for my small office. It's very compact allowing me to place it on my desk without it getting in the way. Setup was very easy, and I love that it is wireless allowing me to use it from any area. My favorite thing about this scanner is that I can load all of my documents in it at one time and it scans them all super fast saving me so much time and energy from scanning individually and waiting. The color quality is amazing and nothing comes out distorted when scanning. This scanner allows me to keep everything organize and scanned in as my documents come in. I am all over the place when it comes to hard paper copies of things because I can never keep track of them but this allows me stay organized and save everything important that I need for later use. It can scan up to 50 documents fast in its auto feeder. I can scan to my cloud storage and have them all organized. I have had no misfeed issues with this scanner. Everything has worked properly, speedy and effectively. If you are scanning tons of papers, receipts, documents on a daily basis this is the scanner I recommend. Pirtable, easy to use, speedy and great quality. This is a review for the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Great for scanning multiple docs quickly

I scan a lot of music, and this scanner does a great job running through multiple pages of sheet music with ease. The quality is also above average, compared to my previous scanner. Documents can be saved as PDFs, which is my preferred format for sending scans to others. It also handles multiple pages sizes well, even in a single scan. One feature that I didn?t even know I needed is the auto duplexing --- it will scan both sides of a page, without having to reload. I didn?t realize how often I did this, until the Epson started taking care of it for me. Photos also scan quite well, with good color reproduction. It?s not designed as a full-time photo scanner though, so keep that in mind. Get a purpose-built photo scanner if that?s your main use. I do have certain circumstances where I need to scan multiple photos into one scan, so my trusty flatbed scanner will be sticking around for that, as well as for any bound books or thick items I need to scan. Setup took a little longer than I thought it should. I had to re-start the install process a couple of times. My WiFi is also fairly locked down, with separate vlans for IoT and work, so there was a bit of tweaking needed to get the printer to talk with my network correctly. Overall, this is a decent scanner for the price, although you may need to keep you flatbed scanner around for certain use cases. Excellent product, extremely useful! ...Once it's set up....

First of all, this is a speedy little scanner, and once you use one of these, you may never go back to the old, painfully slow snail-scan. With the simultaneous front and back scanning, it cuts even that down to half the time.  Unboxing and setup was easy peasy. At least until I got to the install. Long story short (see longer version below*), I ended up having to call Epson support. The tech I spoke with had the solution. He was very good - albeit a bit testy, I didn't need him to be warm and fuzzy and thank me every 15 seconds (as is often the case), but he seemed a little angry at me for disturbing his day. However, after less than a 10 minute call, I had both computers recognizing the device, as well as my android phone. He got the job done, and I was off and running. Next, I began by scanning a pile of randomly-sized documents. Lots of 8.5x11 medical receipts, insurance docs, half-page recipes, etc. Even though the pile was not all the same size, the scanner processed them all just fine. Options for saving format were bmp, jpg, png, pdf, tiff or multi-tiff. Basically, anything you would need, and lots of settings for each option. The sheet feeder is very forgiving, and handled it all gracefully. I then moved on to photos, again a variety of shapes and sizes and styles. Even the vintage prints from the 60s that had the frilly edges. The scanning options list resolution from 75 up to 1200 dpi, however 600 dpi seemed sufficient for regular sized photos, and it did an excellent job. There is an option under "image type" for "auto" which makes it possible to choose between color/grayscale, or color/black and white. Brilliant! I'm very impressed with the results, too. I have always assumed that flatbed scanners were superior for photos, but now I doubt that, and will probably be doing some side-by-side tests. I have thousands of photos and this little puppy will be a great time-saver for getting them all stored and backed up. There are settings galore for everything from image settings to remove punch holes, OCR for receipt scanning, etc, even removing background, for making transparent png files.  ** Long(er) story: I have 2 different (Windows) computers - neither of which recognized the scanner when I plugged it into the usb 3.0 port. The software was very glitchy and even connecting it via wi-fi was a chore. When I finally called Epson tech support for some help, there were 2 problems: 1) because I already have a number of Epson products on my network, the new scanner did not play well with others and I had to manually remove them before it would connect to the 500W II (and will have to re-install them manually - fingers crossed), and 2) there was something that was supposed to be installed with the software that didn't get put into the correct folder during the install. The tech had me install a tool that I downloaded from the Epson website, which apparently did not work as expected - even the second time around. For others that have the same problem, do not give up. The app you want is es2launcher.exe (Epson Scan 2), that's where the magic is. I do love Epson products, but I have to say their software is often not up to par with the hardware. Other than these one-time issues, I do recommend the scanner and feel it is a very good value. Wireless Work Horse

Many scanners come and go in our office but this one is here for good. The ES-500W II is the best scanner our office has seen to date. Super easy to set up and begin use. Plug in, download the software and connect and the scanning begins. My favorite features of this scanner are the front/back page scan, super fast scan with crisp, clean pages and truly wireless technology that does not lose connection or effect the quality. We rely heavily on a quality scanner to create electronic documents for archiving. We have used the scanner with various sizes of paper, receipts, photo's and other documents and never have had a jam. We love that this item can be easily taken to different offices and used with the app to control the functions of the scanner. A truly quality product that provides the best scan. Works exceptionally well

I own two Espon scanners now, this one and the previous version. This scanner scans documents with impressive speed. The speed is actually what sold me on this scanner. I refuse to use my (or any for that matter) printer to scan documents anymore. Using a printer to scan is so tedious and time consuming. So much so that I would opt to keep physical receipts throughout the year (for taxes, etc.) instead of scanning them. Scanning them was too much work but keeping so many receipts was also inconvenient, and created unnecessary clutter. But NOW, shoooot. Put a stack of papers/receipts in the feed, get the app ready and hit scan. And in no time this thing scans and shoots them through and out into the tray. I have recommended this scanner to everyone in my immediate family. Quick easy to setup and use!

I have worked with documents for years. The ability for quick setup and use is extremely important. Most of my documents pertain to real estate abstracts. This scanner makes it easy to use and easy to find files needed for a particular work order/abstract. Saving and finding is a breeze. Quick scan up to 50 pages without jams or other issues makes my productivity skyrocket. No bulk, very compact space saving and easy to store if needed. Folds up to use very little space when not in use. Best duplex scanner I have used and looking forward to continuing use. ?This is a review for the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.?

Nice Scanner

I received the Epson WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Desktop Document Scanner, seems to be very good quality, well made. It is easy to set up, just plug it in, power on, than go to the Epson website to download the needed software, and it?s ready to go. It is also small and compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space. It scans front and back at the same time and can do up to 35 pages a minute. It has a 50-sheet auto document feeder. The duplex capability, scanning both sides of the page and then it pops up on the screen, allowing you to then choose where you want to save it ( word, excel, or as a document on your PC is an excellent feature. exactly what I was looking for!!

What an incredible scanner, I can't believe so many features it has, for example: Easy wireless scanning to smartphones, tablets, computers and online cloud storage accounts using the Epson Smart Panel mobile app; Easy sharing to email or upload to popular cloud storage services; create searchable PDFs and convert scanned documents to editable Word and Excel files; image adjustments like auto crop, blank page skip, background removal. but the best of all is get organized in a snap, because captures both sides in one pass. How incredible isn't it? is the best!! This scanner is super fast, accurate, and doesn't miss pages. I have scanned about 1,000 pages so far and the scanner has worked pretty much flawlessly, saves me a lot of time. now this scanner Epson ES-500W and I we are the best friends, I work in a small business and I just want to get rid of the mountain of paper that comes with personal or business records management and believe me it really helps me a lot. I did not experience any problems with the quality of the documents. The software is easy to use, the wifi set up too was flawless and I've not had any problems. a good tip would be you can also select the slow speed on the scanner if you feel the high speed might damage your originals. I highly recommend it. This is a review for the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Perfect for both personal and business

This scanner is great. It is small, lightning fast, excellent quality, and has wireless capabilities. The most important thing about this machine is its excellent quality of scan. It is exactly what I would expect from an epson product. It scans super fast and will scan both sides of the page in a single pass. Its speed certainly rivals commercial grade machines, and I would prefer this piece of equipment in my home or office over a big, bulky commercial machine. I was able to easily set up all the software, both on my desktop computer and my mobile device. I find the mobile app very easily, and it is very straightforward. I love using the mobile app with this device because of the simple interface, and the convenience of using my phone over a computer. The machine itself sits on about 12x7 inches of real estate on my desk, less than a piece of paper. When not in use, I keep it folded up to that size. To use I unfold the top loading tray and generally the output tray. This tray is nice to have but not necessary. If the output tray is not unfolded, the scanned pages will just end up on my desk. If it was close to the edge, it would be valuable so the paper doesn?t scatter all over the floor. When it unfolds, it expands in both height, and length above the desk surfaces, but I don?t find it to be very intrusive. Set up was pretty easy. I initially set it up using the USB connection and the PC software. After using it a little bit this way, I decided to connect it to my WiFi network. Once I connected it to my wifi network is when I really felt the versatility of the machine. I was able to install the software on an additional machine, and my phone, and could start scanning things to most any location that I could think of. The software allows scanning straight to a local drive, Google Drive, Evernote, Sharepoint, SugarSync, Email, FPT even another printer. I can also use mobile software to make the files accessible directly from my phone or iPad. I?ve seen similar models that don?t have WiFi capabilities, and I think it is a huge mistake (at least for me) to not have a machine with these wifi capabilities. The ADF tray is large enough for most documents that I would ever deal with, and will adjust to allow much smaller single page items such as photos, receipts, and business cards. This scanner gets a big thumbs up from me, and a very large recommendation. I?m not sure what else I would even include in a scanner. The only thing I could think of would be to make it accessible from the internet, but I?m not sure why that would be necessary, because I would have to load the document locally anyway! Best for Home & Office!

A multi-utility scanner that does the boring & tiring scanning jobs quickly and easily. It fits perfectly on one corner of my desk and looks great sitting there. The best part is its 50 pages auto document feeder that really scans through stacks of paper and that too from both sides. This saves time and effort immensely. It can scan from 35 pages to 70 pages/minute, which is incredible. The color and image adjustment features are handy to make the scanning pretty. This also gives me the ability to easily preview, email & upload the scanned documents easily. No more scanning one paper at a time, it neither misfeeds nor double feeds the paper and ensures that no page is skipped while doing a stack scan. Overall this is a great scanner for any small business or people like me working from home who has to scan a lot of papers. Perfect sized scanner

The Epson ES-500W II scanner is my newest office buddy.  It's quick and easy to set up. It set up so quickly I didn't think it was actually set up. It's connected to my computer and also to my phone. I constantly scan to email and load things to my computer. This scanner scans so quick and easily that before you know it, it's done. It also scans both sides of the paper! Talking about a great feature! Instead of scanning on side flip over the scan again, you just put it on the diel setting and you have both sides. The Epson ES-500W II is compact sized. It doesn't take up much space at all. It sits in the corner of the desk next to the printer. It doesn't get in the way at all. This scanner has been a lifesaver and will be great for any office or home. Awesome Hardware, Software and Wireless Setup, Meh

First impressions: The unboxing of the scanner was straightforward and simple. The product along with accessories were easy to remove from the box, and everything was out and plugged into the wall within minutes. The scanner is a nice modern, black color design that does not take up much footprint when in the closed position. Even with the rear feed tray and front trays extended, it does not take up an absurdly large amount of space. Setup & Usage: The device is supports both USB 3.0 and WiFi capabilities. The Epson ScanSmart utility can be downloaded from the product support page. Software installation itself was simple, however, configuring the WiFi settings on the scanner was much more involved and not easy at all for the average user. The software did not automatically detect the scanner in order to connect to it to apply the AP settings of my own network. Multiple attempts were made, but the ScanSmart setup utility refused to discover the printer. I had to connect the scanner with a USB 3.0 cable, install Epson NetConfig utility, and push my wireless settings to the scanner that way in order for it to connect to my home network. This is definitely not what an average home user would think of to do, and most likely will be calling up support very quickly. The ScanSmart installer boats about WPS as an option to connect with WiFi-Direct, but WPS is a dated authentication technology with security vulnerabilities and should not be included on the device in the first place. Scanning documents itself is fast and straightforward - just make sure you orient your documents correctly in the rear feed tray; documents go in with the front side and top being facing down. The scanner processes multi-page documents very quickly, with double sided capture working like a charm. ScanSmart was able to sense the sizes of my documents and receipts with ease, ranging from standard 8.5 x 11 letter size paper to long store receipts resembling the ones you get at CVS. The scanning software also allows you to choose a variety of document format outputs other than PDF after scanning, which is very convenient if you are scanning a picture vs. scanning text only documents. I would like to highlight the duplex functionality of the printer, which saves so much time compared to non-duplex scanners. The speed at which the scanner processes double sided documents is quite quick, with the limitation being how fast your computer and the Epson software can process the scans. As mentioned previously, make sure you insert the front side of your double sided page face down, otherwise, the page order will be scanned and processed in reverse. This is not an issue for a single page of double sided content as it can be easily corrected in a PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat, but if you are scanning stack of documents, it is less than ideal to have everything the wrong direction. Scan Quality: Being primarily a document scanner, the quality has been flawless on all my receipts and standard documents, with clear text that was easily processed by OCR and made editable in Adobe Acrobat. For color image scans, the color resolution and tones are slightly lacking, but for the most part, get the job done. Granted, this was not designed for scanning and digitizing photographs and artwork so if you are looking for a scanner that preserves image coloring with minimal tweaks to the software, I suggest looking elsewhere for something better suited for the job. See pictures for examples of quality. For the time that I have used the machine for its intended designed purpose, it has outperformed the previous scanners that I have owned. I hope that the device continues to perform well into its service life, producing speedy, quality scans. I have not needed to contact customer service for any reason other than looking at the support website for troubleshooting the Wireless Setup process. I give this product an unbiased, 4/5 stars so far based off these experiences. Great for Home or Office

Since I work from home for an agency, there are some things that I have to scan and get out to clients. It's sometimes a hassle to do that on my all-in-one printer, so having a separate document scanner helps. The WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Desktop Document Scanner is convenient, quick, and was so easy to set up. I had it scanning in less than 5 minutes. The WiFi setup still isn't completed because there is an issue with communication between my computer & the Document Scanner since my computer is hardwired. But that's a network issue, not a WorkForce ES-500W II Wireless Duplex Desktop Document Scanner issue. I love that it's not bulky so it does not take up much space at all. The document feeder closes down so that you can keep dust or debris out of the feeder and keep your scanner running nice. I tried it out scanning some household papers that I wanted to get out of my file box and did so quickly without having to scan both sides of each separately. It gave me the option of saving either as a jpeg or pdf and if I wanted the document in color, greyscale, or black and white. ?This is a review for the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.?

Great features and compact

This Epson DS-500WII wireless deluxe scanner is so light weight and easy to use. Set up/download took less then 10 mins to do. This scanner is so convenient since it is wireless. I downloaded the Epson app on my phone and can access it from that. The top of the scanner flips up and that is where the documents go, the documents need to be face down when scanning . It has size adjusters on it, one on each side to do different side documents including cards. The bottom has the return tray that the documents go once scanned, it flips out and holds the nicely. This scanner has 7 buttons on the right side. Power, Wi-Fi connect button, Wi-Fi button, double feed detection skip button, slow mode button, stop button and start button. The double feed detection is so nice to have so you are not accidentally scanning the same document twice. To clear a jam on this scanner is super easy to do. You push the light gray button on the top left side of the body and it opens up the scanner. You remove the jam and it will start where it left off. This scanner is also nice because it a duplex feature and automatically scans both sides of a document with out you telling it to. It does not put the blank pages in the scan document. It omits those out on its own. When in the folder it scans to it counts how many pages were scanned which is a nice feature so you know none were missed. I absolutely love how compact this scanner is. It folds up nicely to save space. Saves tons of space on my work station when not in use. ?This is a review for the Epson DS-500W II Wireless Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.?
