I use tis for prints of trips and family gatherings. The color is excellent and thus far I have had no problem with the Kodak paper I like. Could give a more accurate review after a thousand prints.

se this for home use mostly family but prints from international trips as well. It prints beautiful 4 x 6 prints along with 8 1/2 x 11. I am satisfied with it but wish it had larger ink holders.

I have replaced my Epson Photo Stylus R200 inkjet printer (used for 8 years) as DVD label did not work anymore when I moved to Windows8. Printing is good. DVD labeling is as good as my R200. Print quality and speed are all very good. But you cannot install remote printing driver with Print server once you have installed using wired connection, unlike R200. It just does not allow to do that. Uninstall and re-install should not be a solution.

I use this for direct printing onto discs as well as printing out covers for DVDs and CDs. I use this in combination with an off-brand continuous ink system that costs around $40. While I do occasionally run into problems where the printer suddenly fails to recognize one of the ink cartridges in the middle of printing (it then thinks its empty), it is a quick fix and the overall value is tremendous. I printed over 4000 full color DVD and CD cases with one $30 ink refill for the CIS. I would highly recommend this printer to others

Prints are good quality/sharp. The only issue I have with it is it prints a dark band of color in the same places across all pages when printing directly from Adobe Illustrator, but you can export your document to photoshop and it solves the problem.

Have printed on hi gloss and matte, the results were outstanding. And both papers were cheap off-brands.

Since 2006, I have been an avid fan of the Epson letter-sized "R" series of printers, starting with the R300, which I "killed" printing over 3000 cards, plus other photos and projects. THE COLOR WAS RIGHT ON and approved by the artist who had painted the cards. In light of the good service this workhorse had provided, I bought another R300 and an R320 to have as a backup. These 2 printers ended their service life within the warranty period and I was sent replacements. I used these printers over the next several years. One replacement printer had color issues which Epson resolved with an upgrade to the latest printer at the time, the R380. Again, I bought "backup printers". I continued printing cards and projects until the jets on the R380 and 2 R280s (the backups) clogged and would no longer function. Frustrated with the latest "deaths", I looked around at alternatives in the Canon and HP world, read reviews and decided to get the latest Epson incarnation, the Artisan 50, because it was the only letter sized printer to use light magenta, light cyan and grays as well as the 4 main colors. I ordered the Artisan 50 in late September of 2102. The total redesign is a disaster. It is obviously cheaper construction. There is no longer a small monitor on the machine with buttons to do nozzle checks and head cleanings, as well as other functions. In November, 2012, when the black jet had a clog, I used a nearly brand new set of cartridges trying to clear it, without success. Epson sent me a new printer ("don't send the old one back"). In mid April, 2013, the printer developed a permanent magenta color cast and banding problem. I could not get rid of it even by using the dialog box adjustments or by head cleaning. I received printer #3. 2 weeks later, the color problem has returned and photos printed have a definite "high contrast" problem. I printed one photo on the Epson and on the Canon tabloid printer I recently purchased. The Canon produced a photo that is a dead match for the image on screen, while the Epson Artisan 50 print is pure junk. One might say I am comparing apples and oranges here, but the early versions of this printer would have compared favorably. I am extremely disappointed in this printer, it does not even deserve a 1 star rating. Epson has let us down. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER IF COLOR MATCHING AND PHOTO QUALITY IS IMPORTANT TO YOU.

First of all, the photo quality of this printer is awesome; the dynamic range is even better than Costco prints when compared prints side-by-side. However, the printer driver is not quite compatible with Photoshop CS4 and CS6 running iOS 10.8.6. You can still print awesome pictures using CS4 despite the fact that some of the printing features are no longer working. If you have Photoshop CS6, the color will not come out right because the printer profiles are not compatible to CS6. I spoke with both Epson and Adobe tech support, and they put the blames on each other. Their latest updates as of Dec 5, 2012 did not resolve the mentioned issues.

This is not a copier or a scanner, but it is a great photo printer. It seems like it doesn't use as much ink as my HP printers do. I have printed 11 8.5 X 11 prints and the ink levels are just starting to drop.

This printer is a total waste. If you are using thick paper it jams every time. Can't believe Epson would put their name on this printer. If you are using everyday inkjet paper its fine. Not for professional use.

Prints quality prints on any quality substrate. I'm happy that I purchased the 50 and highly recommend it to all artists.

If you're looking for a simple printing that can do it all, this is it. Since we already have the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 for larger jobs the Artisan 50 has been great for all purpose document printing and awesome for printing CD/DVD labels. Ink can be expensive but I think worth it if quality prints are your priority.

I have been using this to make note cards. The colors are every bit as good as my wide format much more expensive Epson printer. It is a tad on the noisy side and the feel of it is indicative of a less expensive unit. The process of setting print sizes is a bit unwieldy but once you get used to it; okay. It will be interesting to see how it holds up and maintains this quality over an extended period of time. One suggestion I would have is to not let the printer "fix photo". When I have failed to undo this box the printer has tended to wash out some of the vibrancy of color in my photos.

So far I have printed and framed over three dozen 4x6" and 8 1/2x11". The quality is great. The adjustments that you can make to the photos really help.

This is a great printer and the price makes it even better. I'm not sure what problems the other mac user had but set up was simple. Yes the supplied disk is out of date but I had an automatic update to the latest drivers from the epson web site.(osx10.6.4) The colors are ok out of the box. I highly recommend calibrating for best color. After calibration (I use color monkie) the colors are spot on. The foot print is excellent. It fits on my desk with room to spare. I wish they could get printers this size capable of printing 11x14 (17.7"footprint) I might have to step up to the R1900 for that. Not looking forward to 24.3" foot print.

Had to review this printer after the apple user review. Works fine in windows 7. I've printed 1000 5x7's on it so far, without any problem.
