Horrible company

Had this printer for 6 months. It stopped working. Contacted Epson and they had me run tests to see why it didn't work. They said that the product was defective and I needed to contact the seller to honor my warranty. Contacted the seller and they said that Epson manufactures warranty was not transferable. What good it their manufactures warranty if they don't honor it? So any product you buy through any retailer has no manufactures warranty?

Almost 5 years and still going strong!

Almost 5 years and still going strong, Got it in April 2020, and we have printed over 65,000 pages. 28,000 + Color and 36,500+ Black and White. We have bought the standard inks and maintenance cartridges, sometime the printer does updates and then all the computers need firmware updates and sometimes it has a bad day and we unplug it and the routers. But overall for a small scale office this has been a great printer.

Epson ET-16650 - Like this printer

I have had this ET-16650 printer for over 2 years now and I am on my 3rd set of ink. I have not had any issues with it. I had to replace the waste tank once. I am in construction and print 11x17 plan sets all the time. Still happy with my purchase. I will say a couple of times I have had issues with the Wi-Fi internet set up but have been able to keep it working. Use the scanner tool all the time to Scan marked up drawings and it works well.

"Maintenance" issue causes a 1-month printer outage

We've had this printer for 22 months. It's worked moderately well, but it's been pretty temperamental and has wasted a fair amount of paper, time, and ink through the process of keeping it clean and getting it to print documents and brochures the way we want them to look. I attribute most of those issues to Epson's clunky software, and we've managed to work around the majority of the kinks. After all that, we have come to rely on the printer to produce marketing materials for our real estate business. HOWEVER, we have just run into a show-stopper of a problem. Apparently, this thing has something called a borderless printing ink pad which is now at the end of its service life. On the ET-16650, this is NOT a user-replaceable part, so our only choice is to send to Epson for them to replace the ink pad. To their credit, they won't be charging us for the shipping in either direction and the charge for the repair won't break the bank, but we'll need to be without our printer for at least a month and that's not really a viable option for us. So, the moral of the story is this: only buy this printer if you can afford to be without it for a month or so every couple of years in order to have the borderless ink pad replaced. Of course, if you never use it for borderless printing, this probably won't be an issue for you. But since that's the main reason we purchased it, it's a real deal-breaker for us.

We Reserve The Right To Reverse The Warranty - If Needed!

I bought the ET-16650 used. Specifically, it was Certified Refurbished by Epson BUT Epson didn't sell it. Epson did sell me an extended warranty for it. I did pay them and Epson had no complaints in taking the money BUT when a problem arose, Epson quickly decided that the warranty was sold by one of their "bots" and not a person and therefore Epson felt no responsibility to honor the warranty or for that matter to offer ANY level of support or options - aside from "Buy another one from us directly and roll the dice". I'm not impressed with Epson or its Customer Service / Support. For the limited time that the printer worked - it worked well BUT Epson was afraid to consider the repair of it and that speaks volumes to what they think of their machine. On my end, I'm glad that I hadn't gotten rid of the damaged Canon because this morning I plugged it in, set it up on top of the EPSON and the Canon has been keeping our office operational - while Epson has spent the day trying to back peddle their warranty and avoid ANY possibility of keeping us functional.

Exceeded My Expectations

I have owned Epson printers for decades...and, they last that long too! So when it came time to replace my older WF7510, I selected another Epson product, the EcoTank Pro. It packs a tremendous amount of functionality into a compact, modern design. Seeing it up was fairly easy and it prints vibrant color lightning fast! I am beyond pleased!

DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Not worth $1000. My printer all of a sudden stopped working and threw a code. I communicated with Epson customer service and that led to a replacement. The warranty is based on my original printer's warranty which ends Jan 2025. I was skeptical to begin with because of the quality reviews- which sadly were true! Look into it! I will NOT recommend the printer and will not be using Epson for my business anymore!

Work Horse printer

I have used this printer for 2 years now in my small construction business. I print drawings from this printer on 11 x 17 all the time. I am now starting my third set of ink after 12,986 pages printed. I have had very little trouble with this printer and it is still going strong. I also use it a lot for scanning drawings using the feed tray for all sizes. i have not had very many miss feeds. Most of this was from me pulling a staple out and the pages were kind of stuck because of the paper damaged by the staple. All of the feed mechanisms are still working great and do not squeak. My biggest problem has been printer connection to my computer using WIFI. most of the time I have it connected from my computer to the printer. It just works faster.

Never Epson, Never Again

This would be a GREAT product, but if you need warranty service be aware that Epson's foreign-based tech support will do everything they can to weasel out of your warranty. Although we're thankful we found a company within 100 miles that will service our expensive, mission-critical printer at our cost, the extended replacement warranty we purchased for it was a $180 waste. Oh, and beware of purchasing ink from Amazon. Amazon itself, not a third-party vendor, apparently sells counterfeit, Epson-branded ink. Based on the reviews they've been doing this for a while. Does Epson care? Of course not, because they get *their* money and they don't have to honor a warranty, *any* warranty. Sucks to be the customer! As an IT person, I am disgusted, and I'm also removing Epson products from my recommended purchases list. Boo hiss!

Great printer, but missing a feature.

The software and drivers installed fine and it is working as expected. I haven't got to testing the photo quality, but the regular documentation has good colors and crisp print. 1/2 the ink dissappeared on initial set up; could this be partially due to priming the dry printer? One disappointment: when document scanning, it doesn't scan to PDF as a native format. I assumed that this would be a business class printer, but PDF scanning is a must have feature that is sorely missing. Maybe Epson can add this with a firmware revision in the future?

Great quality & economical - Large sheet rear feed not great

Long time Epson fan and bought this printer in August. 6 mths later, I am just ordering ink for the first time and I do a lot of printing. It has performed great except for the 13x19 paper in the rear paper tray. It really just does not feed through reliably and is really quite a pain. Also, I am having trouble figuring our the "Free Ink for 2 Years". I registered immediately and I find info about the deal but not actually how to activate or take part. (I'm still looking)

First impressions... aren't great :-(

I just bought this because it said it was a Wide-format all-in-one printer, and could print 13x19. I do 80% of my printing on13x19 and the other 20% is 8.5x1. this looked like it would be the perfect replacement. I had a WF-7720 all-in-one wide-format printer, and have had it for years. It was a dream, (well I don't want to say I dream about a printer) it was a workhorse and reliable. but, alas as all good things come to an end, it was having problems with paper feeding. I was needing to replace it, this ET-16650 looked like it would do the job. it has the same basic title "Wide-Format All-in-one" and on the box it said could print 13x19. I figured it would work exactly like the previous one. So far, out of the box, it is not. I have a useless tray... the 13x19 doesn't get loaded into one, I have to feed into the back of the printer. the first day printing has found that this isn't very reliable. it makes me sad, love is not something i can say about a printer but the WF-7720 I didn't have to think about it. you loaded the trays with the two different sizes they were designed for. the papers both that the machine could print on, and that was it. sure, it would beep when it was out of paper or ink, that was to be expected. Now I find myself having to fuss over the ingestion of each page the machine needs, some of witch it decides it needs many more than just one at a time. others it just doesn't like at all. I generally don't write reviews much but being that I'm standing over the first of many 70+ books of plans to print out and am needing something mindles to do while i constantly fuss over the printer, I found I had the time.

ET-16650 All-In-One Maintenance Box Problem

Bought the ET-16650 All-In-One unit and it mostly works great, except for a major problem we encountered. After 6 months of usage the Maintenance Box apparently filled up and stopped working. We have used and are using a variety of Multi-Function and All-In-One printers and have never encountered this problem so fast. Usually this problem should happen after a couple years, not after a couple months. This unit advertises "low waste", but, the Maintenance Box tells a much different story. I pulled the box out, it barely looked used with only half of it untouched with ink, tapped it to help the waste settle and still no luck. We chatted with Arlene L. from support and Epson did not seem to really care about the issue at all and just wanted to sell some ink cartridges. She was unhelpful in resolving this issue and seemed not to care about this issue at all. This is not a warranty problem apparently, however, I would argue differently. I feel that Epson should've provided 1-2 additional Maintenance Boxes since they fill up super fast. I also feel like this was a poor design on the printer and this is evidenced by how fast the Maintenance box fills up for a low waste unit. This is why it should be included into the warranty since it contradicts what it is advertised to do! This is not as advertised and a design flaw! The Maintenance Box should last years, not months and that is a serious problem! Beware and be ready to purchase a lot of extra "Maintenance Boxes"

An Absolute Winner all the Way!

Very satisfied with this printer so far! I purchased this printer as a general purpose office printer for printing everything from documents to photos to brochures, as well as full duplex copying and scanning. Everything I've done with the printer so far as absolutely met my expectations. The ink tank design is an absolute God send. As many others have said, the ink seems to last forever. For the price of this all-in-one printer, scanner, copier, I personally feel that it is a tremendous value, especially given that you can print up to 13"x19". The printer is very fast and quite at printing documents that are mostly text, and typical print speed for color photos and things that are mostly image based. Thus far I have no complaints whatsoever with this unit.

Satisfied Repeat Epson Customer

I am very please with both the product itself as well as the purchase experience on the sellers website. I was not that pleased with the logistics of the product getting to me but that is not the fault of either the seller or the manufacturer of the product. The printer is larger and heavier (about 45 LBS) than many of the competitors. I found the unpacking was relatively easy and the set up was intuitive. Although a disk with the drivers was included I downloaded the drivers from the Epson website with no problem and installed with on my desktop without incident. The Epson product easily found my network and there was no communication issues with the computer as I have had on occasion with competitors' products. The printing and scanning has been flawless thus far. I find the print/scan quality good but have not printed photos--only text--so I cannot speak to photo print quality. All in all, I'm happy with the product and would buy it again.

Perfect for our needs

This is a great printer!! I have been looking for a large format printer for our small business and this one came to the top of my list. It does everything I want it to do and more. Easy setup and the ink tanks make it an affordable device. We look forward to many years with this device.

fast, excellent color, accurate

print quality, when it works, is excellent. the software could be a lot better especially maintenance followed by networking (printer that is). disappointment: had printer for three weeks and it needed a nozzle clean. twice to clear whatever blocked cyan. seems you MUST do a nozzle check t make sure printing comes out OK. After having printer for three weeks? i guess there is no factory printer head alignment. once all that done, print quality is excellent.

Terrible

As with any Epson printers quality of prints is good, but printers quality is terrible. Constant issues with head cloging. Amount of ink wasted cleaning heads is unbelivable. Print quality is ok and very fast. Problem is that head claning is needed often and after 8 days I already have ink smages on the pages. I would not recommend.

Three years, and 40,000+ pages!

Bought in march 2020, I have filled the ink quite a few times and changed the maintenance box a few times. Its had issues need to clean the nozzles, it jams if any page has a slight bend, and no it cant hold a full reem of paper. It jams it you try to do that but it can hold 3/4 of a reem. But we have boght the cheaper versions of this printer, by far this one has wayyyy less issues. So as the guy who fixes the printer I have to fix it wayyyyy less than I used to maybe once a quarter year I have to do nozzle cleaning, ink refill, etc. It also has had network issues, but again way less problems than the cheaper ones. So if you value not having downtime, and not fixing your printer more than you print this is a good model.

Has a lot of features. Used a lot of ink in the start up process. Still just beginning to use so cannot judge long use but so far so good. Instruction do not mention the scanner lid must be closed in order to open lid and base to remove all protective packing tape

100,000 Pages Later...

A year and a half into owning one of these; definitely among the best printers I've owned- the touchscreen is user-friendly, the overall user experience is well designed, with excellent error resolution for wrong paper and jams- no headaches! I'm honestly shocked by the durability. It's mostly plastic and being an inkjet, I was expecting 50k pages out of this max even with the price tag. However, I just today passed 100,000 pages printed and it has pretty much no issues to speak of. All my previous budget laser printers developed significant print quality issues by this point! The only letdown for me is that the absorbent pads for borderless printing are a non-user-serviceable part, and 'wear out' after a certain point, requiring the printer to be shipped off if you want to continue using that function after some time. Full disclosure: my first ET-16650 broke after about two months, with some unresolveable error. Epson support were surprisingly good (it was necessary to call, not just e-mail), and shipped me a printer in exchange immediately. I nearly forgot to mention that since the experience was good. The ink bottle system is absolutely nothing to worry about. Spills are uncommon and the ink is easily dissolved in isopropyl alcohol for cleanup. I honestly got way messier cleaning toner drums than this! The cost per page is outstanding. Epson's marketing lives up to what it promises, even if you are coming from what you consider to be an already economical printer. Plus, with the rebate I send the used bottles back to Epson. 100,000 pages in ink bottles takes up a small box, not a pallet of spent toner cartridges! The print quality is also remarkably good for an inkjet. I used the now-discontinued ET-15550 for a few years and the 'high' quality on that is the 'standard' on this at something like 4x the print speed. The tabloid scanner is great; I've even used the standalone copying/scanning functionality in some cases, even though I prefer to use separate software on the computer (VueScan) for maximum control. I've archived public domain sheet music on it, as it can fit the old 9" x 12" size, with very good results. Most important tips: before a print run, do the Print Quality Adjustment process (in Maintenance). Take your time and do it right, and your docs will come out looking great. The values do shift over time. Also, if printing double-sided, use thicker paper, like 24 or 28 lb., and reduce the print density by 20-30%. This will reduce bleed and distortions on the paper which might cause jams or smearing, while also saving ink.
