Review Summary

Bought this from Costco and the Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping. Every time you have to print, then go through power on/off cycle to restore connectivity. Called their technical support as well but it's useless since they don't know the root cause. I believe if the Wi-Fi routers are on DHCP mode the printer fails to recognize the wifi. So after every 30 mins or so it loses the connection and requires restart. Returned it after using two months. Also, within two months the color prints started getting lines on the print.

This has to be the worst printer I have ever owned. That is not because it doesn't turn out a good product, but mainly because it is so computer software dependent, and that often fails. Wi-fi connectivity is terrible. I can print with Wi-fi, and I can scan using the Windows Scan software I downloaded from the Microsoft Store. But Epson's own software can't find the scanner. I have to turn off the modem and printer and then restart everything for any chance for it to connect. Why is it that Epson's software can connect for printing, and Microsoft scan software can connect with the unit, but Epson's own software can't find it? I even tried to connect it manually entering the IP address of my Wi-fi, but that doesn't work. On the unit itself, I hit the appropriate arrows to get the appropriate screen for scanning and then it wants to know do I want to use the previous connection or use USB, and I tell it previous, and it says it's invalid. Checking the network connections on the unit tells me there's no connection. But I can print by wifi from my computer. So trying to use the printer itself to do anything other than just copy or print and is thoroughly iffy. So bottom line, the software makes this thing a giant headache. Maybe if I used the app on my phone, it would work more easily. But I get tired of being dependent on my phone for every blasted thing. Using the controls on the printer is also a mini nightmare. I read the warnings about using the tiny one inch window on the screen, and I should have heeded those warnings. I should not have to bend over to get close to the printer to read the screen. Add to this having the paper exposed all the time (no interior tray) and duplex printing, and this was a regrettable purchase.

Fantastic printer! Easy to set up and easy to use. Love the scanning ability and prints pages fast and with good quality printing.

I had no problem setting up my new printer and loading the ink bottles. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. The install instructions run on an iPad or iPhone and make the process easier. I loaded the drivers on my laptop, also with no problems. The print quality, especially photos are much higher quality than my old HP printer with ink cartridges. The very small LED panel is hard to read, but not really needed much with the software on an Apple device. Overall this was a great upgrade from our old printer and the ink subscription we were paying for. Be advised that this printer will not print on both sides of a page, it is one side only

Setup gets a 4 out of 5. Could you have made the screen any smaller? And why does my warranty only run for 9 months? First impression is that it prints nicely, software downloaded and installed without a problem. Paper receiving tray looks pretty flimsy.

The setup of the printer with out using the app. is extremely poor, the instruction are poor and over all stinks compared to two other eco tanks I have. The paper feed his SoSo. The excuse for a display a joke and hard to read. The ink tank bottle key slot is sloppy (all tanks) have to wiggle the tanks to get them to put the ink in. Yea this a low cost printer but it's not worth have the price, bought to replace a ET-3760 that the ink head is tired after 9K+ prints. Would defiantly NOT recommend this printer to anyone

I have only had the sprinter for two days and the quality seems good. I am using it with a MacBook Pro with iOS 11. It took me about an hour and a half to install a software and get the printer running Wi-Fi signal was recognized by the printer, but when I tried using it, it would not connect. I'm hoping it does not lose the Wi-Fi connection in the future because it is a pain to have to reset the Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi connected instantly with my iPhone 11 and I was able to print from my phone right away no problems here I shut off the printer in the evening and then try to use the printer in the morning And again, it would not connect to the Wi-Fi. I had to go through the Wi-Fi settings again. Not happy with the software installation.

I bought this because my previous Epson was bleeding me dry in ink costs. This priinter has been a piece of crap since it came out of the box. I have not been able to print more than a couple of pages because the printer will not maintain the wifi password entered. I have reset the network settings at least 20 times, going thru all the steps to enter the network password (2 separate networks, extremely strong signal and high speeds available), yet the printer will only give me maybe a page or so every 4-5 resets. Junk!

Don't buy from epson! I bought this printer. it came without yellow ink. You cannot even use the printer without setting it up with all the colors. Contacted epson and after being passed around for over an hour they said they were overnighting yellow to me. Waited 2 weeks and then called them back and turns out yellow is out of stock. meanwhile, i have an unusable printer. Asked if they could send a 3 pack which includes yellow...no. asked if I could just return the printer and they said i would have to pay shipping back. after telling them this was unacceptable, they said they would pay the shipping back but the refund would take up to 2 weeks after they received the printer back. Not a good company to buy from!!!

I should have listened to the reviews I read. I wanted a printer that does double-sided printing, and I didn't have a lot of money. Reviews said the screen on the printer was too small, and they complained about what you have to do to draw in the tray after printing. Why on earth would any company make a printer with a 1" screen? We aren't Superman with his better-than-cat-like vision. And with all the room on the front panel, why not put a button for one-touch drawing in of the tray? Did middle-schoolers design this thing? And then there are the wifi connectivity issues. It fights to connect, making scanning and other tasks a chore. This is a lousy printer. If you have to fight with a printer, being inexpensive isn't a good enough reason to buy it.

This printer replaced an XP-640, which was inexpensive but required a lot of maintenance and guzzled ink. The ET-2980 was a cinch to set up and connect to wi-fi. Filling the ink tanks was quick, clean, and easy. I love the self-adjusting print quality feature. My only complaint is the control panel window is so tiny it can be difficult to read. Otherwise, it's perfect for my home office.

I just bought this and the scanner is broken. I now have to figure out how to file a warranty claim to get it replaced. Buyer beware.

I had several HP printers that lasted maybe up to a year each, and I was so frustrated that I felt it was time to try another brand. After researching online and reviewing all the printers available, I decided to try Epson. It was a smart move. I have had no problems with printing, adding paper and adding new ink. It was a smart purchase.

Paper started jamming on double sided printing after 5 months of EXTREMELY light use. Total garbage. Internal parts bent on their own. I want my money back.

Epson has a junk printer. I purchased the Epson off people's recommendation and it is a horrible product. Does not print as well as claimed. Is not a nice color and is loud. I mean like gears turning loud. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced with smart replies in chat. I was told it was my bandwidth in my internet the problem so I changed companies to what the CSR said it should be. Did NIt work. I am stuck out all the money for the printer and no one cares at Epson. The HP CSR are kind enough to answer your questions, they will replace a bad printer that is only two months old, they also will send a technician. The only resolution I have gotten is to eat my cost and move on. So I will forever tell anyone that this is the worse service you will ever receive.

I bought the Epson model ET 2800. It broke after a year and a half. I sent it back to the company for $55 and after waiting a week it came back. It worked for another half a year. I really like the eco tank. I went to staples and got a good deal on the ET 2980 model. However, it only works with internet connection. My main laptop does not have internet connection. Problem 1. I tried connecting to my other laptop which does have internet connection and it did not recognize my device. I am frustrated with the amount of time given to connect and my inconvenience of not being able to print at home

I replace the ET 2980 because I was tired of spending money on the ink for Epson wf 4830 after only 4 years. It was a very good printer. The ET was very difficult to install on my laptop Windows 11. I had to install with the cord then installed wireless. The colors for photos were too dark so I turned the density down to - 5. The pics had good quality. I liked that printing was very fast even on premium glossy and wait for drying. The screen is too small. The tray comes out automatic when printing and closes on its own when the printer is turned. off. I printed 90 color 4x6 pics and the only colr that went down a bit was the black. The improvements they need to do is a larger screen, easier install and more info on the sheet about fixing problems.

This was the most convoluted instructions I've ever encountered for installing a printer! This had paper instructions which led you to the printer panel instructions, which also wanted laptop instructions, and your phone instructions; there was no single methodical, sequential steps. While installing, you would be stuck in a sequence to find that perhaps your laptop was waiting, or that your cellphone was waiting. Incredible! Trying to connect to the Wi-Fi - it wanted a password - but no place to enter it's password! You couldn't click-forward or backward. It would have been very nice to have a single set of instructions! It would be nice to simply (1) download software, (2) Update Drivers, (3) Connect to Wi-Fi, (4) Test Print, (5) Finish with registering. Then go to any next added devices such as a cellphone, or pad.

Bought an Epson printer again..... to replace the Epson 725 printer that just couldn't print well ......... after 15 years :-). Do: Take your time to unpack and set up printer. Read instructions, then use your mobile to set things up... just go step at a time... it will make sense.... then set up to your laptop or whatever computer you use. Don't: Rush the process.... others reviews have complained about it.... relax. Do: use correct papers and load inks according to instructions. Hint: Turning off the printer over several days does not cause problems... I simply touch the power switch, let things get settled and connected, then print my photos or documents without issues.

I've had ET-3710 for so many years I can't even remember how long. It has done everything that I needed printed with never a glitch of any kind. A friend of mine recommended it and I've thanked him often. When I had a cartridge printer it was very expensive and would run out of ink all the time. The tank feature of our ET-3710 is much better and reliable.

My ancient Epson finally gave up and stopped working after many, many, many years. Hopefully this new Epson will give me the same level of service I had with the old one. The set up was pretty easy (even for a "non-techy" guy like me. Wireless connectivity has been excellent with no issues. Print clarity is stellar. Speed is more than adequate for a home office situation. All in all very pleased with the machine.

I had an ET-2750 for six years. It outperformed and outprinted all the other brands I tried, gave superb service and only started to show its age this year. It gave up the ghost this week after printing one last, perfect page just after I updated the drivers. I was so impressed with it that I bought an ET-2980 to replace it. I hope it works as well and lasts as long. The old Epson was the best printer I've had in this century. So far, this new one is performing as well as the old one did. Hey, it's only the first day.

It took almost a week for it to find its way to a computer it liked. Between a Samsung, iPad, and HP, it finally came up on the HP. We been using HP's for about a decade, but the straw that did it was the cost of the ink cartridges became more than a new printer. Outright license to steal! Love the ink bottles, and the cheaper cost of more ink!

I just received my new printer yesterday and am very impressed with the quality. I had a Canon printer for years and was sick and tired of spending so much on the ink cartridges. Finally - I made the plunge to purchase this new supertank printer. I'm so excited not to be restricted on how much printing I do. With my other printer I had to be careful about every single thing I printed because the ink ran out so quickly. This printer will literally pay for itself in a about a year and a half with the savings I'll have from not having to spend $110 on ink cartridges! It's about time someone came up with a great alternative to expensive cartridges. Thank you!
