I have the ET-5850. It has been 2 years now and use it 5 days a week. Excellent printer and the savings on ink is amazing. I had a HP, which I really liked but it broke down, it had 4 ink cartridges that cost from $85-$95 a piece. It was a great printer also but cost me a fortune in ink. The Epson printer is fast and so far, touch wood, I have had no trouble at all, and I go through a lot of printing. Very cheap per page printing.

Great feature's

I bought this printer after being profoundly disappointed with the ET-3850 in my application. The 3850 prints a beautiful page, but it is extremely slow for the microsoft word and pdf documents I need to print. The advertised 15 pages per minute for black and white worked out to only 1.7 to 2.3 pages per minute. Worse yet, the advertised 8.5 ppm speed for color worked out to only .5 pages per minute for the color documents I need to print in large quantity. I've used Epson for years with good results, so I decided to stick with the brand but upgrade to the ET-5850. I have been well rewarded. All the ET-5850 also does not achieve the advertised speeds when I measure print times for my documents, it is WAY better than the ET-3850. It prints out 5 B/W pages 3 times faster, and prints out 3 of my color pages 9 times faster. The time bottleneck this was causing me on the ET-3850 is totally solved with the ET-5850. Happy customer. I bought the ET-3850 through Costco, but had to come to this website to get the ET-5850.

9 times faster than the ET-3850 for me

I bought this printer for my business 13 months ago and it worked pretty well (with a few glitches) until the firmware crashed. Technical support walked me through all the possible fixes and nothing worked. I spent hours on the phone and sent multiple photos of all angles of the machine, inside and out along with receipts of all of the ink I bought. They ultimately did not honor the 2-year warranty, with the excuse that I "might have used counterfeit ink." So I have a $900 printer and a bunch a new ink that is now all trash. It is unfortunate that Epson did not do anything to help.

I bought this for my classroom (with personal money) and have been extremely happy with it. It prints quickly. It seems our copiers are always on the fritz, so I am thankful I have a reliable printer!

Awesome printer

This printer does more than we need, but I'd we need the options it has we have it. Also a big deciding point were the ink tanks because ink cartridges are so costly.

Printer for our church

We run a small commercial and residential real estate company. We print flyers and documents pertaining to properties and deals that we put together. After some due diligence, we chose the ET-5850 printer and have been very pleased with the results we are getting. The printer is not cheap when purchasing it, but the long-term cost of operation is hands down very good for our return on investment. We were spending $1200 annually for ink on our last printer compared to $157.30 a year on the ET5850. The print quality is good. It's not picture quality, but it works just fine for advertising flyers of properties we have listed for sale. The refilling of the ink tanks is very simple. No spill, no mess refilling this bad boy! We highly recommend anyone considering a good economical printer take a look at the ET-5850. It does disappoint!

Phenomenal Printer!

Had it for a month, seems to be very economical with the ink, unlike our previous Brother printer that ate toner every month to the tune of over $300. Easy to connect wirelessly with all our computers. Very happy so far.

ET-5850

We've had this printer just over a year and it no longer works. It has been reading a paper jam and therefore will no longer print or scan any items. We've taken the thing apart, blown out the inside, even taken it to a repair shop that cannot find any issue. Epson customer service was helpful enough to tell me there is a hardware failure and we're outside the one year warranty. A waste of a colossal amount of money.

Phantom Paper Jam - unusable

This printer has been nothing short of exceptional. Replaced previous HP printer for the cost of the cartridges and I've been saving ever since. Quality prints. Fast production. Would highly recommend.

Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 Wireless Color All-in-On

I am a (formerly) loyal HP customer. I've always had HP printers/scanners. I made the decision to get this printer because the ink on my HP Color Laser was averaging $800 every 6 months, which is absolutely ridiculous. 

I chose this model after reading Consumer Reports and learning the EcoTanks have fabulous quality and INEXPENSIVE ink. And it's TRUE. This is not a color laser, but the quality has been GREAT and I'm so glad I made the decision. Also, ink level is so easy to see on the front panel and filling the tanks is easy and no mess.

I love this printer/scanner

I purchased 2 of these for my small business hoping to cut down the cost of toner for my existing all-in-one units. What a mistake. 

Pros: 
1. Ink lasts a long time and it is easy to fill
2. Nice interface on the touchscreen
3. Scanning via the computer interface is smooth and simple
4. Connection to my LAN was great and able to set a static IP address
5. Two paper trays
6. Print quality is pretty decent but doesn't match laser

Cons:
1. Paper handling is TERRIBLE. If printing more than a 1 page document it will more often than not (greater than 90% of the time) grab multiple sheets of paper and either print a blank sheet or have print on about an inch of text on one page and then continue on the next. This is a deal breaker for printing multiple page documents and wastes a significant amount of paper and time. 
2. Duplex printing is extremely slow and not reliable because of paper handling. See Cons #1
3. Duplex scanning is tedious

I do a lot of research on products before purchasing and I typically take negative reviews with a grain of salt because often time it is buyers remorse or user error. However, I wish I would have taken the bad reviews to heart because I'm stuck with 2 VERY expensive paperweights that I can pretty much only print single page documents with.

If Epson could get the paper handling issues resolved this would be a pretty fantastic machine!!

Great Choice

So far this has been a great addition to our small business, I'm still learning all its functions. The print quality is outstanding and fast.  I have not had any issues interfacing with our computers and the Epson software.

Outstanding for Small Business

I bought this printer last year for my office. Overall I like the printer, but for the past several months the ink has been on backorder (Epson 542 Black Ink). The ink is not available driectly through Epson nor through thrid party sellers. I called Epson customer service and they cannot give a date when the ink will be available. I am now almost completely out of the black ink. My only options are to buy another printer, or use a non-Epson complatible ink, which will void the printer warranty. Epson customer service did not come up with a solution when I called them and they were unwilling to make an exception and allow me to use a compatible ink as a temporary solution. I am stuck with no solution.

DO NOT BUY - INK IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS PRINTER

We have about fifty printers at our office and all are toner type printers. This is our first ink jet and we love the savings, quality of the prints and the ease of refilling the ink. We are starting to order more of these for our staff.

Much better than a Toner fed printer

This is the easiest printer we have ever used in our 10 person office.  We feel we will be saving a substantial amount of money on ink vs. cartridges of printers we have previously used.  The set up was simple, and everyone was able to connect wirelessly in minutes.  NO issues.  We feel this is the best office equipment purchase we have ever made.

So simple, so efficient!  We non-technical types could do it!

Bought this as a home office printer. Both ADF and tray paper feeder constantly (I'd say 90% of the time when printing or scanning more than 3 pages) grab too many pages. This effectively makes the ADF useless for document scanning, as it regularly misses pages and jams frequently. Complete deal breaker. Scan to cloud also not working. Very disappointed, as there are many great features to this printer, like the supertank, Bluetooth connection, scan quality, etc.

Unusable

#100017 scanner error cannot be fixed - I cannot scan - requested help but Epson avoids people with problems.

Can't get it to work and cannot get help from your site

The features are very nice, but we were disappointed to find it doesn't have a PPD file and, therefore, is not configurable for printing from Chrome, and especially not from Chromebooks.

Very good printer and the use of ink tanks instead of cartridges is innovative and easy to manage. The scan function is slow but usable.

Great printer but not a perfect printer

Great print quality, easy to set up and use from multiple devices, and low operational costs in terms of ink.

Worth it!

Returning it due to poor performance. At this price point we expected ease of use, which is NOT what we got. It was difficult to install onto our computer and wont stay "connected". We found multiple other people with the same issue online. I only wish we had seen them before the purchase and now I have to pay to return it.

Overall this is a nice little printer for our office. It is quiet and does not take up much space. I thought it would hold more paper in the drawers. Also, we have had a great deal of paper jams already and it is cumbersome to clear those out. It also misfeeds paper frequently, it will grab 7-8 sheets of paper to print one page. Not sure if we have a setting that needs adjusted but right now, I am not convinced I bought the best printer for our needs.

Frequent Paper Jams

Wow! This printer is so easy to set up! The instructions were very clear with step by step pictures and directions. It took me about an hour to go from set up to printing my first page. The disc included, to download the software to my laptop was simple to download. Everything I needed to connect the wireless function was set up and written very clearly. The printer’s touchscreen was super easy to follow, and I was up and running with little effort. I was a little worried about the dripless ink and filling the tanks, however, I was worried for nothing! Every single drop of ink went straight from the bottle to the printer tank. Amazing! I also found that I am able to now print from my computer or my phone! Many times I had to email myself a document to print from my computer. Being able to print from my phone is a huge time saver! The printer is quick and quiet compared to all the other printers I’ve ever owned. Being able to print 6000-7500 pages without changing ink is perfect for my monthly printing budget. I am thrilled to be printer cartridge free! The touchscreen is very user friendly and intuitive.
