Its about a month since I purchased the product. Generally, the product is good, and performs per the specifications Have scanned about 200+ 3x5 photos at 600DPI. Satisfied with the speed and quality of scanning. A few tips: As recommended by a reviewer in Amazon, sort the photos into landscape and portrait mode in advance. Double check the scan DPI, folders to store and double side scanning settings before starting a new batch. Finally: The installation does have an issue: One Step scanning fails repeatedly. Have tried removing the drivers and reinstalling, but does not resolve the issue. So, gave 4 stars instead of 5

If I could leave less than one star I would. This scanner is literally the worst in existence. I have to scan photos one by one and often it "jams" and I have to check my computer to see which photos scan, and if you use Microsoft, it will absolutely not show up in order. I have had to sort through thousands of photos when this scanner ? you know, doesn't scan. One by one. One by one. It brags it can take 30 photos at a time. Let me tell you. It. Does. Not.

Bought it this week and have already scanned over 100 pictures. Not bad but it does come with issues. First, if there is old tape or glue on the back of a picture, it jams. The back has to be scrapped clean and pristine. Secondly, it will not scan Polaroids. Too thick. An entire generation used Polaroid cameras so there are millions of those out there, fading and rotting. I have a flatbed scanner for those but many don't have that option.

I purchased the FF-680W to expand the capabilities of my forensic investigation and engineering practice, replacing an 8-yr old DS-560 (this was a workhorse). I needed improved photo scanning capabilities and the 680 aptly meets those demands. The file management abilities of "Document Management Pro" that came with the DS-560 spoiled me. I was able to have several custom quick scan tabs that allowed a quick scan with documents scanned with detailed settings and stored at select locations (i.e. documents, checks, photos). I attempted to create customized actions in the Epson ScanSmart that came with the 680 and learned that similar customized actions are no longer available. Hence, additional steps are needed to store documents at your select locations after changing the settings for the nature of instrument saved.

Bought this unit Feb 2, 2025, it is fast and convenient BUT it is advertised as a photo scanner and it does that BUT the quality of the scan is very poor. I tried adjusting setting but could not get it to do a good job. Wish I had my $659.00 dollar back.

After searching specifically for a photo scanner I decided on this Epson Scanner. The reviews were mostly positive and although it is expensive I am happy with the scanner. Setup was fairly easy with no issues. I have to say, a lot of what I am scanning are OLD photos and the automatic enhancement of the scanned image is nice. I would recommend this to my friends.

I got this as a gift from my late husband. I am enjoying using this machine to store all of my photographs and documents. I have had no problem using it with my MacBook Pro. I am wondering if there is a similar machine that would transfer 35 mm slides to my MacBook? That would be wonderful! Right now, I am enjoying this little gadget.

Impossible to setup on my configuration. FastFoto app not supported with Windows 11 so I can't use it on my laptop. Scanner does not support 5G wireless so it can't be setup on my iPhone and home network. How is it possible that Epson can't stay current for what is not a unique configuration. And best yet, Best Buy does not take returns on this once opened.

I bought this to use with my 2024 iMac, as the ad said it was Mac compatible, but I was shocked that in trying to download software it seems it could only be loaded on an iPad or iPhone. I had to borrow my son's iPad (which did NOT make him happy) in order to load the software and use it to scan photos. The scanner did handle various photos beautifully, but the ads for the product are misleading. You seem lightyears behind Apple versions of OS, and that is a big flaw.

Did my analysis, read the reviews and then ordered this scanner so I could get started scanning all our old photos. Followed the instructions and when I selected my Mac OSX 15.x from the driver download page I was informed that Epson hasn't finished the driver software that is compatible with the latest OSX. Now the scanner is sitting on my desk and I'm now checking their website every few days to see if it's available. I'm considering sending it back and looking for a scanner that works with the latest operating system.

Received this scanner as a Christmas gift over a year ago. Works great as far as scanning photos and documents and receipts BUT i have had no luck connecting to the WiFi at home so i have to use the USB cable to connect to my computer. I'm not sure if its the scanner or my Mac Book Air that is the problem. Don't seem to be able to find any Epson software updates either. Wonder if its better to use a windows computer.

My husband and I bought this a few months ago to scan our family photo archives. We have some that had faded and b&w photos that looked muddy. Using it is easy and the photo images are nicely enhanced. I've just recommended it to my large extended family with the hope they'll scan and post the photos they've been promising to send out!

I just got my Epson FastFoto Scanner yesterday & I couldn't wait to use it. The install was super easy. I used it for the first time today and it is awesome! Super fast and easy to organize your photos onto your computer. I can't wait to continue with my big project of scanning my thousands of pictures i have accumulated over the last 50 years for the future enjoyment of my family to be able to view all these photographs digitally. I love it! I would recommend it to anyone and I've only used it for one day! I'm a happy customer.

An amazing product - easy to set up with the directions and downloading the app. Works fast and color corrects old photos. Very pleased. Have forwarded some files to children. One said "These are treasures".

I purchased this photo scanner a week ago and so very happy that I did. I literally have over 1,000 or more photos to scan. I enjoy taking photos and every single one is a special memory of my family, children and grandchildren.

Scanned over 5,000 photos. Cleaned using the Epson cleaning kit as per instructions. The last few batches had a fine line down the right side. Contacted Epson and since warranty expired I need to bring it to an Epson service center. Closest one is 90 miles away. So I now have a defect on a $640 scanner that I would need to drive 90 miles to see if it can even be fixed. All pictures were cleaned prior to scanning. No idea how a scratch occurred.

Tried for a week to get it to work with my new windows 11. It says right on the box windows 10 but there's downloadable drivers at Epson. Doesn't work with 5G router yet either so I returned it today

A great scanner, but the software is incredibly frustrating,* so I would not buy again. *Almost every time I open the software, it "forgets" how to find the scanner over the wifi network, and the only help tech support has been able to offer is to reinstall the software. I've installed this freakin' software at least a dozen times now, and it keeps having the same problem. If I wasn't invested, I'd throw the scanner away, but I can't afford a new one, so I just curse Epson's software engineers every time I have to reinstall. Arrrgh. I was so excited to find a wifi enabled scanner because I don't care to own a laptop. I immediately was prevented from downloading the set up on my iPad. I can scan with the ios app but the settings and functions are VERY limited. For example I am not able to automatically upload my photos to google drive as planned. I will attempt to move forward with my project, but its disappointing. I have a LOT of photos to scan which is why I invested in this product. I am not certain if I would recommend this product or not at this point.

Bought this along with an ES-60W scanner to arvhive boxes of old photos and I'm so glad I did. This machine is absolutrly amazing and fast. It scans both sides of the photo if it detects information, otherwise it skips the backside. It came with a carrier sheet to use with frayed, odd sized, turn clippings and etc.. I highly recommend this scanner to anyone wishing to scan lots of photos. It has saved me many, many days of work due the speed and capability. The only complaint, is that I wish you could change the file path and name descrioption from the scan button screen, rather than selecting Done andventering the settings option. I would also, suggest getting the ES-60W scanner for scanning photos to thick (Poloroid) or too small to feed through the FastFoto scanner. You'll thank me for it. I have over 6000 photos to archive.

I am impressed how the scanning interface for documents offers all options for different types of documents, like rotating, cropping, etc.

When you get this item you're paying to have am immense amount of your time saved but there's a tradeoff. The quality of the pics are not that good. It will leave unnecessary marks and noise on the pics. Don't listen to the positive reviews. Most people don't care about quality and just want to get it done. If you do value high quality and fast speed, expect to pay a few thousand on something that is extremely rare to find. For what it's worth it has saved me the frustration and annoyance with flat bed, but the time investment into scanning pics on flatbed is better. You will probably have to invest in photo editing software. It is not optional, it is mandatory. Even at the highest settings on my pics they really have a lower quality look to them. The whole purpose of this scanner is useless if you edit them so basically you're just paying to have automatic cropping to pics and batch scanning, nothing else really. Epson's engineering and design on their scanners is terrible. I've used a few others and this as well. They leave all this crap and artifacts on my scans. Even with proper care they still can't even manage to design a well built good quality machine. .I called the tech support and they tell me that all this stuff on my pics from this scanner is "normal." Like why even design it and release it anyway? Epson needs to step up their game. If you find an extremely expensive scanner more expensive than this then it will probably do a good job. This is a quick one and done thing, don't have high expectation.

This product is pretty dismal. It shows as connected on the wifi icons on the front, but checking on the router side of the equation I cannot see any device with the same MAC connected. Chasing through the maze of outdated tech support information I'm finding that this device is only 2.4GHz and while my router supports "Smart Dual Band" this scanner cannot. Furthermore the scanner cannot support a hardwired installation, meaning that while I can connect the scanner to my laptop for configuration it does not appear that the scanner can be used permanently in that manner. The work-around is to reconfigure my wireless router and lose a bunch of features I use daily to get this scanner to work... great trade-off. Buy something with a wire, or atleast something that supports working on a wire, because chances are this thing is going to be as much of a headache for you as it was for me.

I am using the scanner for family photos. One problem -- the images sometimes turn sideways or upside down, no matter which way I feed them in. This requires that I go into the folder and manually rotate dozens of photographs each time I've scanned a stack. I cannot seem to find a way to deactivate this feature. Other than that, I'm happy. The quality of the scans and the speed are both high.

I was forced to "upgrade" from my FF-640 when scan lines became a consistent problem regardless of how much cleaning I did. I was weary to buy the FF-680 based on some early reviews of scan quality issues on this machine. I'm posting this review to confirm that indeed, the FF-680 is a flawed piece of equipment if the image quality of your scans is of importance. Specifically, the color and tonality of many scans from my FF-680 are off - the brights are too bright, the darks too dark, and it is seemingly impossible to reduce the contrast using the meager software provided by Epson (I use what they refer to as the "document" image processor, only because the "photo" image processor doesn't allow for border margins). This is especially true for black and white photos. I've called Epson to discuss and they were not helpful, or at least, there's nothing they can do at this point. The machine is flawed, the software is weak. Of course, it works well if you're not particular about your image quality - scans quickly and easily, images are decent. Beware if you are at all particular about image quality - steer clear.

Digitizing family photos from last 30 years. This product just works. Waited a long time for the Epson version. 1200 dpi with enhancement takes some computer horsepower, be sure to match Epson OS version with your computer OS version for best results. Results are worth it and so easy for making digital (printed) albums. Thank you Epson.
If you love your photos, get this machine!

I had to buy this in order to create a slide show for my mother's memorial service (since Target no longer had a scanner). It is THE GREATEST machine EVER! It scans old and new photos perfectly! I scanned all of my mother's photos and then put them on a flash drive and was then able to throw the originals away and didn't have to drag them all back to Montana from Chicago.
