Questions & Answers

Shopper : I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?GARRY K : This label printer has the least waste of tape of any printer offered. The tape cartridges are reasonably priced. I also like the large selection of symbols and the ability to create flag and wrapped labels for cables.TERRY T : I bought this label printer because I wanted to make labels to put on all the different cables I have around the house - computers, entertainment center, stereo, router & switches, etc. With all the different components and cables things can get pretty confusing if you have to troubleshoot or disconnect a cable for one reason or another. The Epson LabelWorks LW-400 Label Printer was one of the few that I could find that specifically addressed creating flag style labels for cables, which was exactly what I wanted. I looked at other brands, but I didn't find any that mentioned labels for cabling, unless you want to shell out the money for an industrial grade labeler. In my opinion, Epson makes quality products, so there was no doubt in my mind it would do a good job. It also appeared to have the widest selection of different types of label material, label colors and widths, and different font colors and styles. I shopped around and Adorama had the best price and best selection of different label materials. Plus, their reputation speaks for itself.HUW R : I read the reviews on amazon for label makers. This one seemed to be the best bang for the buck. I've made labels for 4 pairs of skis & 4 pairs of poles (had a problem in the past where people take the wrong skis and then return them later). It took a little trial & error to get the correct format I wanted but I'm very pleased with the purchase. Adorama shipped the item quickly and it arrived next day (standard shipping, but I live in NYC).

Needs Improvement

I've used a similar Brother label maker at the office for years. It's very handy and well designed. I bought the Epson for home use because I have several Epson products that have been excellent. This one needs to go back to the drawing board. The controls are not intuitive at all and the print is very ragged and poorly finished. I'm very disappointed in this product.

Great LabelMaker (until Motor Fails)

Owned this label maker for 4 years and then the motor failed. For the cost of this unit it would have been nice to see it covered by its warranty under this time period. But still I purchased this unit again as from what i've read it's one of the units that wastes THE LEAST amount of tape AND prints more than 2 lines.
