The SP 3880 is a solid, if dated, color printer. Very expensive on cartridges, but produces excellent photo results. Unfortunately, the refurbished unit was badly packed, so the lip on one side of the furthermost back paper feeder had broken off in transit and so is now attached via adhesive tape. Otherwise, it works as advertised.

I have always loved Epson printers and it is the only brand I have ever used. It has always delivered a quality image and a reasonable price..I am looking forward to many great prints to come..

I am a fine art painter. I nedded to make professional quality reproductions of my work. This was a great choice. But I am only one month in to my purchase. I hope I don;t have any issues.

This is my 3rd Epson inkjet printer and the first two did not get anywhere near the 15,000 prints the item is rated for, The reason for this is that there is no detailed description of proper maintenance. That the pad the print head parks on need to be flushed with windex. I have had to rely on You Tube video's to understand proper maintenance. Also, there is no description of the error codes in the manual, especially the ones that say "call service"... this does not give you he opportunity to problem solve the situation so that you can get the printer back into service.

I reluctantly recommend this printer because there's simply no better option if you want great prints that last a long long time. My objection is to Epson's business model when it comes to inkjet printers. They make the printers so cheap and the inks so expensive that it's virtually never worthwhile repairing these things. A new printer comes with a new set of inks which is worth about half the cost of the printer, so unless the repair is really cheap it's not worthwhile. This purchase is our 8th one. All the others are in the landfill. Rediculous.

I had the Epson 3800 and had to say good-by after many years of service. I received the 3880 two days after ordering , set up and printing in right away. Easy , just as the later model. Would recommend it to anyone with a love of printing.

I print 11 X 14's mostly in B&W and the quality is second to none. I have compared them to ProDPI and a local lab and these are better. It doesn't work as well in Windows 8 as it does in Windows 7 but I have both. I guess it's the printer drivers.

The printer came highly recommended and I have had a chance to use one I didn't own so decided it was time to purchase. No problem at all during installation and since I'm using photoshop to set color, I am getting excellent prints that are true to those I had made on the printer I didn't own. Will be using the printer to make exhibition-quality prints for local galleries and also images to cut into cards for gifts and for sale. Wish the ink weren't so expensive and wish that changing to matte paper didn't waste so much ink but I was prepared by photographer friends for these issues. Mostly I love that I can print smaller work prints then make adjustments right in Photoshop and immediately see the results of my work in another print.

Pro: It works well with most media materials. the inks' colors are great on most surfaces. Con: Check for head clogging

High quality photo prints for my landscape photography business and personal greeting cards. It replaced its older cousin, the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 which was retired because repair cost was about the same as the price of a new printer after the $300 rebate. Both printers have the same potential issue in dry climates (such as here in Phoenix) — clogged nozzles if you do not print on a regular basis. I learned this the hard way when I had to replace the print head on my earlier 3800 for that reason. I now have a regular reminder set up to print a test pattern with plain paper once a week and a test photo with photo paper once a week. Unfortunately, I was traveling this fall and could not be regular with that practice which lead to the second clogged nozzle incident. The authorized Epson repair shop confirmed that they see a lot of these problems in this dry climate. However, if you follow a regular printing schedule or if you live in a less arid area, this is an excellent photo printer.

It seems premature to rate a product before you have used it long-term. I have had the printer for a couple weeks only and have printed just 200 photos. However, I'll give it a shot. The 3880 replaced an Epson R1800 purchased in 2008. The R1800 printed good photos (actually, I thought they were great). I had printed literally thousands of photos on it. I print my own calendars for gifts for 30 people. That is 13 photos x 30 calendars x 5 years. It adds up. And that is in addition to other photos. The last few years I have struggled getting clean prints (i.e. no bands, streaks, or blotches). The 3880 was a replacement to reduce my frustration with the process. With that as background, I started using the 3880 partway though this year's calendar printing (some calendars produced with each printer). Here is what I noticed: 1) It picks the sheets cleanly, no matter how many sheets are in the feed tray. The R1800 did not. 2) The 3880 prints are significantly better than the R1800's! I printed the exact same photos in both cases. Every photo looks better on the 3880, some more noticably than others. For example, the blues in the sky look much more natural. I'm impressed. 3) The larger ink cartridges are sooo nice. I can print a lot of calendars before I have to worry about replacing a cartridge. Everything considered, I'm pleased with the printer.

I have only printed a couple of photos so far but they turned out fabulous with out any tinkering. The color is wonderful, the software is user friendly. I was able to just jump in and print without reading the manual. I have had several Epson printers and they are wonderful. It is nice to have the option of printing larger photos. The only thing that wasn't so great was lugging it up two flights of stairs by myself. Enlist a friend if you find yourself in this situation. The printer is very heavy.

I looked at 2-3 other printers and used them by renting or getting my work done on some specific ones before buying this. The setup using Lightroom was a little frustrating and took me almost 4 hours to finally figure out how to disable the printer drivers and letting Lightroom control everything - but since then it has been great. One serious issue - the ink door is way too flimsy and will open up at the slightest of touch. I cannot believe Epson meant to produce such construction. I don't have the courage to ship this back in for repairs so will rather hang on to it and keep a dummy weight on top of the door from popping up

I bought this printer specifically to make high quality large format prints, and so far so good. Have made comparisons to Epson 4900 products and those from the better photo print shops. Very pleased with results on 8x11, and will be evaluating 17x22 shortly. When used with professional level software and high quality paper and profiles, can get excellent results. Too soon for me to speak of reliability.

The Epson 3880 is what I had expected from the all the positive reviews I had read about the printer Very pleased with the excellent quality prints. Simple setup. It's a large printer but I wanted to make up to 17 x 22 prints. Placed order Wednesday morning and received printer early on Friday afternoon!

Options and customization of print format is perfect. Easy to use, saved profiles and ability to adjust quickly between paper size, type and formats great. Not sure why they did not update to quicker switch between Matt black and Photo black, but use Photo black 80% of time - so not a real issue, just somewhat wasteful on the ink.

So far, I haven't done a lot of printing with this yet, but it looks very promissing. Having some trouble getting the printer to match my display(seems to be a common problem). The prints come out too warm, yet they are still beautiful. In time, I'll get the setup right and I'm sure I'll be happy with my purchase. I'm just a little disapointed with Adorama sending me products that had previously been opened. I paid for new, not open box items.

This printer creates outstanding prints. The included print management software is very flexible and easy to use. Its ability use manage the entire print process or use external print management drivers is key. Given its 17" printing capability. this is not a small printer, but I had not extent it to be. Its only shortfall would be the fact that there is a limit to the 'long side' dimension(you can't print a 17" x 50" print for example), its restriction is more to the 17" x 25" size.

Just set it up this weekend. It still has a large footprint for it's compact design, but much smaller than other large printers. I set it up on a lateral file cabinet which holds my supplies except large 17x22 paper. I printed out my first large prints and they look fantastic. I calibrated my 2011 iMac with a colormunki display and the prints were great. I am new to all this and wanted to start printing out my own photos as part of my new photography hobby I started last year. Definitely worth the money. As I said I'm new at this and they printed good.
