I expect better for the money
You should be able to use something that dosn't cost $20 to clean this scanner considering how often it's going to need it. Get a microfiber cloth and at least one $20 optional cleaning kit when you buy the scanner. You're going to want to dust all your pages before you scan them because fairly soon you'll have white or black lines on your scans. That's a minor annoyance, however, compared to the fact that the USB-A port began not functioning correctly shortly after the 1-year warranty ended. Now I have to wiggle the cord at the scanner port every time I plug in the scanner for it to connect to my laptop and no, it's not my laptop port because it's any computer I use the scanner with.

Black lines
This thing worked great the first half dozen times I used it. Now, it has a black line on everything I scan. Mind you, I am 50 years old, and not running anything but flat paper through it.

Doesn't Work With Windows 11?
I purchased this scanner several years ago and used it with my Lenovo computer that has Windows 10. I recently bought an HP all in one desktop computer that has Windows 11 and the Epson scanner doesn't work. The light comes on but that's it.

Don't buy for OSX device

Just bought this at Office Depot after reading all the reviews on your site. I love it. 20+ years in IT this thing is beautiful. Does everything I need it to do. A perfect on the go tool that a lot of people will love. Thanks Epson.

Difficult to clean
Worked well until it didn't, I ended up with a black line on my scans. Attempted to buy the wet cleaning kit but none are available. I had attempted the cleaning sheet that came with the device but that didn't help after several tries.

Not as advertized
The scanner you advertised was said to scan documents photos & others. It was not able to scan my photos from albums. I want a refund.

Great portable scanner!
Fantastic! This little product is compact and does a great job scanning products that are usually a HUGE pain when it is done in a MFD / scanner unit which tears up or rips the papers. I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who wants a nice portable unit.

My 2nd one
I scanned between 20,000 and 25,000 documents with that one. I purchased the 2nd one because I was concerned I might have problems with it while on the road. I do investigations for the government and use this new one only g\for On-The-Road use.
My at the home scanner is an ES-400 . I've had it for several years and have never had a problem with it.

Do Not Buy - JUNK
I have tried to use this scanner so many times. I even changed computers thinking that would help. I downloaded files, etc. It just does not work. I am disappointed with Epson because I thought it would be more reputable than some of the other scanners. I learned my lesson. Wasted my money! Don't waste yours.

Used it once, then didn't need it for a while. Won't feed pages. Won't connect via USB. Scanner isn't found. I have tried every USB cable at my desk and nothing works. I don't have a lot of money and am really sad I threw it away on a product that won't work.

Excellent for a small scanner
I bought this to go on my desk as there is not much room. Very compact, I can even travel with it easily. Scans very well and the program it uses is very self explanatory.

worse scanner
I bought this trash and used few times and quit working because software and called service many times and reached once but problems kept coming back. It is not the scanner; it is the stupid software. Finally have to throw away.

Good when works, but doesnt seem to work often
I bought this scanner and it worked perfect and then stopped working and kept producing error code E1460-B305 and says it unavailable, preventing me from using the scanner. Too late to bring back. Tried everything and product is pretty much useless at this point.

Every Time is Like the First Time
We bought this scanner around 3 months ago and have used it a handful of times. The scans come through with decent clarity, which is nice. Once all the software and drivers are installed it's easy to use, however, the problem I have is that every time I want to use it, I have to uninstall and then reinstall all the software and drivers, which means that when I want to scan a document, instead of it taking 20-30 seconds, it takes 20-30 minutes. Pretty frustrating. I have a new HP laptop I got a couple months after we bought the scanner, so we're not trying to use new tech with old tech. If it wasn't for that huge inconvenience this would have 4 or 5 stars.

Hangs/crashes on a regular basis
When it works it's a handy product. But it can only handle at most 20 scans before the software crashes. And the **ONLY** way to get it to start working again is to unplug iot and re-attach it. Even though the software probes for the device and sees it, it STILL won't run until you've unplugged it and plugged it back in. It is incapable of restarting itself otherwise.
The software can't remember settings like preferred file format from one usage (or after it crashes) to another. The "scan" button on the device does nothing even though the application is running.
If your receipt is too long it will DEFINITELY crash.

You get what you pay for
The product does what it says it will. Comes with a USB and that is how it is powered. Software is not as intuitive as one would hope.

Great Portable Scanner
I wanted to write a review to give a different perspective on the epson portable scanner. I see there are a few negative reviews, however my perspective is that the unit works very well. My worktruck is my office and I use this scanner often and have never had an issue. I find it durable and has sat in my work bag in minus 30 degree weather overnight to work the next day no problem. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who needs something portable to scan their documents with.

Disappointed
Computer no longer recognizes the ES 50. Worked on a few occasions then stopped. Others online have had the same problem. Another technological masterpiece heading for the the garbage can.

Fine...while it worked.
I bought this scanner a bit over a month ago to make to scan receipts. it seemed to work as advertised, however, I plugged it in this morning and nothing. it loads the document, but the scan button no longer functions. I have tried the recommended troubleshooting suggestions without success.

Good for small projects!
It was not what I needed. I need a scanner that can handle large jobs . Hi er a hundred pages each job several times a day. This scanner is good for small jobs. I didn’t realise that When I ordered it. I would rec9mend for small jobs.
