I bought the Epson Stylus 1400 after a few months of research following a diappointing performance from a different brand. I wanted a printer that would produce top notch photos consistently, and I wanted to be able to print up to 11" x 14" for my portfolio. After reading a few dozen reviews reviews, I settled on the Stylus 1400 and I have been very happy with its performance. Out of the box this printer produced an amazing photo with rich, deep colors, and silky smooth color gradations. I printed off a couple of my favorite photos and compared them to the prints from my old printer and the side by side comparison was astounding! The old prints looked like they were done in crayon next to the new prints. Plus, the ability to print up to 13" x 19" means I can produce large prints at a fraction of the cost the big print shops around town used to charge me. The software interface is very simple and easy to use. It looks clunky and a little like leftovers from the 90s on the surface, but it's very user friendly and simple. The Stylus 1400 is big and it's heavy, weighing in at around 30 lbs. This printer would be a tight fit in a cramped home office. The outfeed tray sticks out more than a foot when fully extended. It doesn't work best with large stacks of paper in the feed tray, so it requires a lot of attention and hand feeding a few sheets at a time when printing large batches. When using paper thicker than about 11 mil, you almost have to hand feed one at a time. And if you switch paper sizes, go make a sandwich, because it can take several minutes to adjust itself. At just under $300, plus a $80 rebate from Epson, this printer boasts better number in both cost and performance versus comparables. Overall, I believe the Stylus 1400 is the best bang for the buck in its price range.

I took a photo of a large colorful parrot, and used the Orton system to make 2 layers in photoshop, 1 extremely sharp photo and 1 using the Gaussian Blur. Then flattened the image, and the detail when printed was simply unbelieveable...such a reasonable price for great prints.

It's a great printer but after printing 2-11x14s and 2 8x10s; it shows over half my ink is gone. At 120.00 to replace the cartridges it can get expensive for just home use. I could have sent them out for printing for less.

Very fast. Beautiful prints. Uses up cartridges rather quickly. Ink is too expensive.

Epson does not give a rat about supporting this printer. Unlike other higher end printers it sells ink only on a one by one basis. (Figure 21 bucks a cartridge.) Ink for this printer costs about double that for other higher end printers for which ink may be purchased in discounted sets.

I just recently purchased this printer. I got it to make large prints of personal photos for framing to hang on a wall. Using Epson photo glossy paper (from a roll) with this printer gives fantastic prints. I printed as large as 13"x36", so far.

I use this printer to print text and also on emergency cases I print my client's color photo and sometimes B&W with custom profile. For the price I am very happy with the results so far. My prints even without custom profile matches my monitor closely. I have not had any problem or anything that I did not like about this printer.

I originally set this up on a PC and it worked well. Bought a second one to put on a MAC and it has been one problem after another to get it working correctly. I would definately not recommend this for Apple computers but would for PC users.

Good price for a larger format printer. Ever need a 11 x 14 fast on a Sunday afternoon. Now you can do it in your office and the quality is there.
