For years I have been using a 3880 for all of my prints and when I have a new for a larger size, I sub'd that out to a photo lab. Well, business has been very good and at the point where the P7000 was not only an option but a need for my business. In comes, the P7000,...set up was a breeze but they aren't kidding about needing 3-4 strong people to lift it onto the cart. Others have commented on how much ink is used up in the initial set up but this isn't anything new. However, so far I am impressed on ink consumption. So far after the initial charge of ink, I have printed a complete photo shoot with well over 150+ 8x10 prints and a 18x24 and still have not installed more ink. So for the reviews that say "I only got 3 prints before needing ink", I don't know what they where printing but they much have been huge. As I mentioned, previously I was printing exclusively from a 3880 (and still use it) and I have been happy with the colors and IQ. Then...I printed with the P7000....the IQ IS better, prints sharper and the colors more saturated and is a warmer tone than the 3880. And yes, same profile and same paper. My intent was to use the 3880 and P7000 side by side but to me the difference is noticeable and for critical shoots, I will have to print with one printer or the other. I especially can not print the same image on each printer for the same client. This is not to says this is a problem rather it is to say the P7000 is THAT good. The 3880 was and is a solid printer. The P7000 is just that much better regarding IQ. In the end, since print matching is important to me, I can see that I will be adding a P5000 to my workflow and will retire the 3880 in the coming year. No other "desktop" printer uses the HDX ink set other than the P5000. In conclusions, the P7000 rocks! Highly recommend it! If you have the room and the $...just order it already!
