Do we have a choice?

This cartridge works fine in my printer (an XP-640 model, by the way, not listed above), but it's obvious that Epson, like the other printer manufacturers, is making its bucks on ink, which is why they can offer the printers at lower prices.

Printer fine, but set up and help a nightmare

This printer had high marks from consumer review magazines, but when I had problems with initial setup, Epson routed me to an outsource which offered to do it for $ The Epson help website is difficult to use.Happily, the printer is good, but I haven't been able to finish setting it up (i.e. fax function) because my Verizon DSL is down. It works very well for copying and printing, but you have to "tell it" to retract the output tray rather than having this done automatically. Their preview page just shows the set-up, not details of document (my previous Canon did this much better).Though the quality of printing is excellent, I had no trouble initializing my previous Canon printer, and their phone and internet help services were excellent and easy to use. The Canon functions were also much more user friendly.I'm a writer, and print a lot, so these features are important to me.

I have no choice...

Of course, there is no choice, if I want to print with my Epson 2000 printer! And I do find the price much higher than I think it should be. But it works well, and produces excellent prints.
