The UltraChrome HDR ink set is a high-density, resin-coated pigment ink formulation, featuring a three-level black ink technology - photo black, light black, and light light black. It also includes cyan, light cyan, vivid magenta, vivid light magenta, yellow, orange, and green. A matte black ink is also incorporated, which can be auto-switched with photo black for versatility.

This advanced generation of UltraChrome HDR ink offers a multitude of benefits. It reduces graininess in skin tone areas, provides smoother tonal gradation from shadows to highlights, and ensures excellent short-term color stability. Moreover, it guarantees outstanding long-term lightfastness, highly accurate color control with neutral black and white, and high gloss levels on water-resistant prints.

This feature, combined with Epson's Ink Repelling Coating for the print head and Automatic Ink Detection (AID) system, helps to prevent downtime by minimizing and detecting nozzle clogging in advance, thereby eliminating paper waste during the cleaning process.

Epson's AID technology employs a sensor near the print head that monitors the electrical charges on the ink droplets as they are fired. A lower than expected electrical charge triggers the print head cleaning process automatically.
