I wanted an inexpensive $ scanner to scan odd sized color and b/w 127 negatives and 35mm slides. The Epson scanner and software worked perfectly with Windows 7. The dust removal option removes about 98% of the dust on the negative. I like the option of having Digital ICE, but the Epson Color Restore and Dust Removal options works just as well. The refurbished unit looked brand new when I received it. For the price, I can't think of anything to complain about. It's not as robust as my $500 Nikon V scanner, but scans are much faster and easier to produce with the V500. I highly recommend this product.

My 90 year old mother sent me thousands of family slides to scan and email to the rest of the family. I got an excellent price and although some people may think that only scanning 4 slides at a time is a problem, I have not found this to be a problem since I have to go through them individually anyway. It does an outstanding job. I did have to upgrade the software for Win 7, but Epson made that easy too, by recognizing exactly what system I was using. Very happy!

Scans all my 35mm and 120mm film. Set up was easy. It has a big footprint and is really noisy. this is my first film scanner so I don't have much to compare it to. And for the price i paid, its nothing to complain about.

This is a terrific multipurpose scanner. I use it to scan negatives and it does a terrific job. At $100, you just can't beat it.

I bought this scanner with the intention of cataloging my negatives from over the years. Between 35mm and 120mm I have a few shoeboxes full of loose negatives and binders from classes and home developed film. This scanner took care of my negatives, I was looking for a flatbed and it doubled as both. I didn't end up keeping the item mostly because of a. it's size and b. the fact that scanning all the negatives would have taken years. If I wasn't so lazy I would have kept it, and if it had scanned just a bit faster it would have been more difficult to resign. All in all it's not a bad scanner, it was clean, took care of what negatives I did scan, and gave me good quality images.

Well thought out design. Simple, compact, powerful. The negative and slide carriers integrate into the unit when needed. And, the resolution for a flatbed scanner is excellent. The digital ICE, dust and scratch removal process actually works and greatly simplifies scanning old material. Mac users should download the most current drivers and scanning software directly from the Epson website to avoid having to install "Rosetta". (Software on the provided Epson CD isn't the most current and the installer requires Rosetta to work.)

I'm using the V500 scanner to scan all my old black & white negatives (of which I have thousands)and color photos before I went digital (of which there are also thousands). It's exactly what I needed for the project. However, it's quite slow and the set-up was difficult.

I use this primarily to scan film. It works great and although the film holders can be difficult to work with, the results are outstanding.
