This is my go-to lens for studio and is the perfect travel lens alsol. I love the 24-120 focal range for studio work. I own the full frame equivalence of this lens for my Nikon Z bodies as well as for my Sony a7r series bodies. I can achieve almost any look I need without having to constantly change lenses during a session. I was a little skeptical of this lens initially because I had not really heard many people talk about it as it was considered a kit lens. After shooting with it a bit and getting used to its characteristic, it quickly became one of my most used lenses. The autofocus is mostly accurate as any missed focus shots could be attributed to user era on my behalf. By adjusting the focusing speeds and tracking in my X-H2, this lens instantly became a contender for my similar Nikon and Sony branded lenses as far as image quality, autofocus and reliability is concerned. The autofocus is fairly quiet and does not pickup in video as long as you use something like a shotgun mic or smaller. It?s compact and lightweight design makes it a perfect match for any fujifilm camera as it balances well on most bodies. Furthermore, it?s lightweight also makes it great for holding long periods of time without fatiguing your shooting arm, making it an excellent choice for travel and street photography. This is an excellent lens with many uses and if you are on the fence about getting it, go ahead, I promise you will not be disappointed.

This is a solid lens for travel photography, just enough wide angle and zoom for everyday carry. Overall the picture quality is very good, and it is weather resistant. I kept shooting in the rain with no issues, well done Fuji!

I've only had this lens for a few months but I fell in love the first day. It has the extra reach, I didn't feel I got from the Fuji 18-55mm. However it's larger and heavier than the 18-55mm. It's sharp and focuses fast it takes beautiful pics. I thought F4 might be an issue but it's not and you can focus pretty close with this lens I love the closeups. I took it to a ball game and got some great shots you can take pics of friends with the 18mm and zoom into the field with the 80mm.

I used the cheap XF18-55 mm kit lens for a long long time. It?s light, compact and was good enough for my travel needs. But there were times when I would have liked a longer zoom and especially some weather-proofing. This XF16-80 mm almost perfectly fits my needs. It?s a tad bulkier and heavier but my XT-4 with this lens on still fits into the same camera bag. In theory, this lens is less bright at the wide angle end than the XF18-55, but with most outdoor shooting, this is immaterial. As for indoor shooting, with the XT-4?s excellent IBS, this issue of aperture is also immaterial. The image quality is at least as good as from the XF18-55. But frankly, the IQ from most Fujifilm lenses is so stellar that I have stopped worrying about this a long time ago. So in conclusion: Highly Recommended for general purpose travel photography.

For what this lens is I really can't say anything bad about it, hence the 5 star rating. I had the 18-135 (which wasn't spectacular at any focal length and the extra 2mm on the wide end is a big deal) and the 16-55 f/2.8 (which I LOVED but didn't love the XH1 and needed some kind of IS) and neither quite fit my needs vs. wants. When this lens came out I sold the 16-55 and XH1 and got this with an X-T3. Honestly this lens works for nearly everything I find myself wanting to shoot (lots of nature and people-less street, most of the rest is serviced by the 16mm f/1.4 and the 100-400mm). The focus is (probably) better than the cameras can handle, the IQ/rendering is just fine for non-professional work and it's light/small enough to carry in-hand for hours at a time. If you're not shooting moving objects the f/4 aperture is more than made up for by the excellent OIS as far as light gathering is concerned, and if you can back up the 80mm focal length makes up for the not-super-shallow DOF. Max magnification is also a lot better than typical for a zoom like this, I actually find myself rarely bothering with extension tubes. This is a bigger deal than I was anticipating. All that being said I do miss the 16-55 f/2.8 for medium-distance shallow-DOF stuff and the 16-55 is really noticeably sharper to the point where it can generate some looks I just can't reproduce with this lens. Now that the X-T4 exists, I'd have a hard time deciding between my current setup and the X-T4/16-55 combo. The rational side would go for this lens, and after a day of traveling with it (if that ever happens again), my arm/neck would agree. But don't sell your 16-55 if you have one!!!!

I am currently in the midst of deciding whether to return this lens. I already own the 18-135mm zoom, but its OIS doesn't play well with the X-T4's IBIS, tending to stutter and jerk when panning and tilting in shooting video. I had read that the 16-80mm's OIS self-adjusts to this, and that firmware v1.05 yielded even better camera movement. Well, 16-80 really does turn out to be "the" zoom lens to use with the X-T4, after all. However, the corners, at wider apertures and focal lengths, are dark, and blurry from being optically stretched. At f/8 the whole frame brightens and the corners sharpen-up, at every focal length, but the results at 16mm at f/4 is often unacceptable. That's in regard to stills, anyway. In video, the 16:9 framing crops the corners out, though the left and right edges remain, but sharpness is less of a concern for video than for stills. The 18-135 is conspicuously sharper through 80mm. However, there are inconsistencies, such as, at 18mm, the foreground corners of the 16-80's being sharper that the 18-135's when focused on a faraway subject. Given the lenses' optical/mechanical construction, they focus differently. Additionally, I prefer the sharpness of the 18-135, but I prefer the color rendition of the 16-80. Since I am a true "hybrid" shooter, I prefer the 16-80 for video, but the 18-135 for stills, and I can't justify carrying both, nor owning both (my having bought an X-T4 means that I'm broke, not that I'm rich). This truly is a toss-up. (Although this review be inconclusive, at least I've made it through my discourse without a "that being said/having sajd that" nor an "at the end of the day.")

The image quality is definitely there, but the star of this lens for me is the amazing OIS. This lens is extremely stable, I’m able to shoot video handheld with the X-T3 and it helps out a lot with low light. I’m able to photograph at 1/30 SS with no blur, 1/15 if I’m careful!

So far it has proven to be an excellent lens with focusing and sharpness. The extra reach from the 16-55 is very nice. It is fairly light weight and for a zoom lens, it is very sharp. This will probably be on my camera 95% of the time.

Very pleased, satisfied with this purchase. Fuji XF 16-80. Great travel lens. Not quite an all in one but darn close. The Adorama experience was great. I would recommend working with the Adorama staff. They kept me informed during the wait for the lens. Eased anxiety. I am not a professional photographer. The lens serves my purpose very well. Family photos and landscape . I need another lens that compliments this one. Any recommendations?

This is the lens I was waiting for with my Fujifilm cameras. I came to Fujiflm from Canon APS-C cameras, and my everyday zoom there was the 15-85 mm EP-S Canon zoom, a pretty good lens. That focal length coverage meets at least 80% of my shooting needs on a typical basis. Now, this new Fujifilm 16-80 mm zoom gives me what I loved in the Canon lens and more, in a surprisingly svelte package with the typically high manufacturing quality of Fujifilm lenses. This is a very attractive and solid-feeling lens with no zoom creep when carrying on a strap around my neck. And more importantly, the image quality is excellent throughout the zoom and aperture range, from what I've seen so far. And focusing is really snappy too. This lens has earned a more or less permanent place on one of my 2 Fujifilm bodies (X-E3 and X-T30). My only niggly complaint is the lack of a dedicated OIS on/of switch, which means I have to remember to turn OIS off in the camera settings when using a tripod. But that's no big deal, I've set up one of the touch screen custom swipe gestures to change the OIS settings on my cameras. In short, I highly recommend this lens.

This new lens offering from Fujifilm is a really fine and useful optic. The build quality is in line with other zooms in this category with maybe slightly tighter tolerances with the zoom, aperture and focus rings than the 18-55, 55-200 and 18-135 lenses. It doesn't quite come up to the solid quality feel of the Fujifilm red badge pro zooms. The image quality is quite good throughout the zoom and aperture range up to f8 and the autofocus is quick and quiet. The versatile 16-80mm zoom range is what attracted me to this lens as well as the relatively compact size as I was in hopes that it might replace my bulky and heavy 16-55mm f2.8. Though the 16-80 is a very good lens, the bigger, more professional lens is still earning it's place in my kit because it simply out-performs this new lens.
