It's pretty simple in that it's TTL only. I has EV compensation. I like that it fits in your pocket and doesn't draw power from your camera's batteries. Definitely not a substitute for a full size flash in terms of something like freezing action, but it's a great fill flash that you can easily carry with you.

I bought this to use with my Fuji x100t for Christmas family photos. I bounced flash off ceiling with a sto fen diffuser, and the pictures were outstanding, used in manual, f/4, ISO 400, shutter 1/60

When I lost my original shoe flash I needed a replacement but didn't want to spend $300 or $400. This flash is just what I wanted. Not big and does the job when needed.

In spite of other reviews stating that the Fuji X100S pop-up flash was all I needed, I was unable to take well-exposed indoor photos at night under general incandescent lighting when the subjects were more than about 10 feet away. The EF-20 hs made these shots work well. The exposure adjustment feature is easy to use and the bounce and diffuser both work as stated. I cannot comment about battery life, but that has never been an issue for me; always have spare batteries on hand. The smaller size of the EF-X20 is appealing but I wanted the bounce feature and was put off by the price.

Nice addition to my Fujifilm x100s. Easy to use, powerful enough for fill or a little bounce. Wish it would fire optically with the built in flash in commander mode, though. Love that the hot shoe folds up into it. It doesn't cycle very fast, running off 2 AAs, but as fill it's just fine.

AGAIN on the inst manual, more of a step by step guide of teaching. Not much to instruct the user on how to use. I was hoping this flash was compatible with other DIG cameras. HOWERVER, it compact and functional, I like it.

This flash is too big for X100(see attached image) and difficult to slide in or remove from the hotshoe because too tight. If the lense hood is attached I would recommend to use this flash to eliminate the cast shadow from the hood. The recycling time is too slow as the battery gets weaker and weaker, also the camera waits for the flash to completely recharge as long as 30 second or more for the next shoot. This flash unit look similar to Sunpak make for canon ETTL RD2000C and nikon I-TTL RD2000N price for $65.00

Its nice to have when you know you will be taking mostly flash pictures. It works as good as a sb400 IMHO. good recycle time. flexible for bounce flash and also has built in diffuser. AA batteries are easy to get and carry extra is not a big deal. BUT..... makes camera overall bigger and more clunky. defeats the old style look. unless you need to have a lot of flash photography, i suggest you don't buy, or buy knowing that you will only really use if you are needing a lot of flash photos at a party or something..sometimes... otherwise leave your thumbsup in the flash socket and leave the flash at home... I bought one for the few times a year i need to just take snap shots at a house party in low light.. only problem is camera has hard time focusing in the dark...

Combining a compact design and efficient controls, the Fujifilm EF-20 Flashgun is the ideal for carrying in a pocket or bag and providing any additional lighting. The hotshoe folds cleverly into the flash body to minimize space and simply rotates out when required for use.
With the guide number 20 (ISO 100-m), 65' ISO 100, and operating TTL with the FinePix TTL Capable cameras, the EF-20 provides superb lighting for each shot. The in-built wide panel diffuser provides effective flash distribution while EV adjustment can be made up +/-1.0EV in 5 steps (-1, -0.5, 0, +0.5, +1). Powered by 2 AA batteries, the quick charge time of approx. 4 seconds keeps the EF-20 ready for use.
