Fujifilm GFX 50s

I was using a Hasselblad 501cm with and a CFV-50 digital back. Even though the images were great it was slow to use and sometimes hard to focus. I traded the back in and purchased the Fuji GFX-50s. What an awesome camera. I thought I would lose some image quality because the Hassey used Zeiss lenses but no so. The Fujinon lenes are just as sharp.

Fujifilm GFX 50s

I was using a Hasselblad 501cm with the CFV-50c back and had great images from it. When I received the Fuji GFX50s I was blown away. Even though both sensors are 50 megapixels the images coming out of the Fuji were far superior.

Still A Great Camera in 2019

I have owned my GFX 50S since March 2017 and it’s still my favorite of all my cameras. I still use my Canon cameras as well as my other Fujifilm cameras but they do not produce the same image quality as the GFX 50S. That larger sensor just yields better detail. Though Fujifilm has the GFX 50R and GFX100 available, I like the 50S better.

Simple Joy

It is simply amazing. Can’t wait to get really involved with it. It is simple, intuitive and the vibrancy and tone of the color palette is stunning.

GFX 50s (Very sturdy and superb IQ)

I bought 2 cameras so i have had the opportunity to measure the response capacity when comparing both... it is very sturdy, solid and flexible because its excellent construction is felt only by touching it. In the section of the IQ it is a monster with a wide dynamic range and an exquisite interpretation of colors that only GFX achieves.

Fantastic images!

This is my first experience with a medium format camera and I'm bowled over by the detail and IQ this camera and lens (32-64mm) produce for still images -- and presumably for video, though I've not yet tried that. Adorama was great to deal with and I unhesitatingly recommend it, though I do have a couple of quibbles with the camera. The quibbles: (1) Fujifilm's method of locking the strap's clip to the lug is a poor patent. I've lost the connection twice on one side when the 14mm wide piece of plastic flew off (one time lost for several days). It seems to be a bit narrower than the other one, perhaps due to manufactured intolerance. I've now used clear fingernail polish to discourage the plastic lock bits from flying off. (2) The Q button is always getting bumped by my thumb and should be relocated (same comment for the X-H1, which I also own). It isn't used often enough to be there and it's frustrating to have the Q menu popping up when I'm trying to focus. I suppose I'll get used to it, but Fujifilm should move it on a "Mark II" model. Perhaps I can install a bare wire next to it connected to the battery to zap me every time I put my thumb there. ;-)

Medium format in the size of a full frame.

I love the image quality and the size/weight of the camera. Produces beautiful images, and the colors really shine. Moving over from the pentax 645z i dont find the controls and menu system as intuitive, but i guess it just takes time to learn what each of the different menu items do. The greatest part is that the camera is very customizable to make it easy for changing setpoints.

Beast Packed in Full-Frame Sized Body

It’s a huge leap from Fuji-X series in terms of image quality and background compression while my X-H1 still has an advantage in fast moving occasion. The autofocus is decent enough to catch up with standstill or slowly (read: VERY slowly) moving subjects. It’s abosolutely not for fast moving subjects. I’m looking forward to using the combination of GFX and X-H1 as a perfect set up for the forthcoming wedding season :)

Awesome camera!

The GFX is pretty much what you'd expect... A bigger brother of the Fuji X-T2 with somewhat similar controls. The image quality is insanely good, though I'd say a D810 or Sony a7Rii (both of which I had to compare) are very close. The film profiles are fantastic. The camera feels well balanced in the hands. The camera comes with a hefty price tag, but that's to be expected with an enlarged sensor. But the system has pretty great potential.

What a Camera From Fuji

I am a longtime Canon FF DSLR shooter, but shot medium format film back before that. I have wanted to shoot medium format digital for a long time. Fuji has made that possible at the price point of the GFX system. The images this camera produce are just amazing, and I am still learning the Fuji system and how to get the most out of it. The camera feels very comfortable in my hand and is easy to shoot with. The size of the camera is minimal given that it is medium format. If you are used to carrying around a DSLR with a battery grip this will feel normal or small to you. I highly recommend this camera if you want large rich tone files to work with.

Great first effort from Fuji!

Excellent medium format camera for commercial, landscape and portrait photographers w/ specific needs for high resolution and dynamic range. Otherwise, the gains over cameras such as the Sony a7rii are very minimal at best. Also, yes the AF is fast for medium format but it's still not great. I feel reviewers have been a little over zealous in regards to this. The killer for me ultimately was the 1/125th sync speed.

pretty amazing

proven sony sensor, great files, amazing lenses, pretty much any lens available via cheap adapters, well laid out and thought out ergonomics, maybe not the prettiest but amazingly functional, best "digital MF" system i have ever seen (i have owned several phase and leaf systems before)....best AF in this market segment, by far (much better then X1D), only drawback is 125 sync speed, i am playing to resolve this issue with cactus V6II right now, HSS is not for off....highly recommended

Another winner from Fujifilm

I have not had a lot of time with this new camera. I have only been able to take a few quick pictures in the back yard. Having never seen or held a digital medium format camera before I didn't know what to expect. It's about the same size and weight as a Nikon D810 so not to bad. It is definitely easy to hand hold to take pictures. I bought it with the 63mm f/2.8 lens which was much larger then I thought. I can't image what the other two lenses would look like on the camera as they are much larger. The camera is very responsive, no lag that I can see with turning it on and taking pictures. AF is very responsive for being contrast auto focus. I have not tried it in low light to see the difference in AF. The controls are all well placed with the exception of the playback and trash buttons which are a little hard to get to. The camera feels very good in your hand and Fuji has made just about every button customizable which is a nice feature. If you shoot with a X-T1 or X-T2 this camera will feel very similar. The few photos that I have taken (jpeg only) were amazing. There is a learning curve with this camera, the depth of field is huge and you really have to watch it when your taking a photo. Also you have to careful of the shutter speed when shooting handheld. The old rule of 1/focal length doesn't apply to this camera to get sharp shots. I would say it's at least 2/focal length. So for this camera anything lower than 1/125s you may get blurry shots handheld with the 63mm lens. Overall for the short time I have had this camera, I love it! I would recommend it to anybody interested in getting a medium format camera.
