It does the job being not too big and not too small. It's only lacking point is that there is not an opening to remove the battery so you have to take the grip off first. It's strong and it's molded perfectly for the XE-1 unlike some of the off brands. I know his summer instead of my leather half case I'll have it on this instead to have a good grip and to keep the sensor from heating...A great product ...Worth the for sale price for sure...

It was disappointing the grip's base isn't an arcs-Swiss mount, like the one fir the X-T1.

Adds necessary grip to the smallish Fuji. All metal construction and of course fits perfectly. Only bad design is lack of access to battery and sd card. And about $20 too high in my opinion.

First I was not sure about how it would look on the beautiful camera. But it will be totally in my palm and can't really see when I hold up the camera. Without this grip, camera may be too small to hold with one hand without the grip. It is a must for me, coming from DSLR.

I chose the X-E1 over some other cameras partly because how it fits in my hands. With this grip, it is even better. Not just the finger grip section, but the additional extension on the camera's bottom gives your hand a lot of leverage, especially needed for the 55-200mm lens. I like the rubber on the bottom, too. This is strong, and I think it is better that you remove it to change battery rather than having a hole in the bottom. Lastly, Fuji doesn't overcharge for this, unlike some other competitors. Only negative is I can't find a leather half-case that is designed to fit over this grip. I may see about getting one custom made.

After enjoying the add-on grip on my Fujifilm X-Pro1, I was glad to see Fuji finally offered a similar product for my X-E1. This review is not so much about the grip — it's great — as it is the mounting of the grip. It's the same only different. The X-Pro1 grip fits, mounts, and aligns perfectly every time; the grip for the X-E1 doesn't. I almost cross-threaded the grip the first time I installed it, because I used the same approach as with the X-Pro1. Upon closer examination, I noticed Fuji added an alignment pin, and naîve me, I tried first to align the pin and second to screw the mount to the tripod socket. It turns out the safe way to mount the grip is to mount the screw first and gently align the pin second. Not exactly intuitive, but the pin restricts the small but natural side-to-side movement the grip wants to make as the mounting screw finds the tripod socket threads. I wound up ordering three of these grips and retuning two. I kept the one that mounted easiest. Thank goodness for Adorama's generous policy. And, of course, there's nothing wrong with the two grips I returned, but it's clear different grips mount differently. Use caution and move slowly until you get the hang of it.

Since I have the add-on grip for my X-Pro1, it seemed logical to order one for my X-E1. Fortunately, it feels good. Unfortunately, it took three grips to get one that fitted and mounted well. The problem is in the screw and/or screw threads in the mounting screw. Two of the three grips I ordered had a tendency to misalign just enough to start cross-threading. With the grip for my X-Pro1, I just slap it on and start tightening. With the X-E1 grip, I found I have to let the leading edge of the screw guide the mounting. There is a stud on the grip that aligns with a corresponding hole on the camera base (not so on the X-Pro1); I found I must avoid the temptation to align stud and hole and press the grip in place. If I take that approach, the grip almost always starts to cross-thread. Grip gripes aside, the extra hand-hold changes the feel of the camera considerably. Just as with the X-Pro1 grip, I appreciate the extra control. The X- camera series is proof Fuji engineers know what they're doing. I have every confidence they have or will identify the subtle machining quirk with the X-E1 grip and make a micro-change to its design. In the meantime, mount the grip gently, turn the mounting screw carefully, and you should have a good experience. Adorama needs to add the category, "Recommended with reservations."

The Fujifilm Hand Grip Assist replaces the standard base plate on the Fuji X-E1, adding a convenient and ergonomic hand grip to the camera, allowing you to shoot more comfortably. When you experience the excellent balance and firm hold provided by the hand grip, you can shoot with slow shutter speeds or one-handed with new confidence. The X-E1 Hand Grip Assist features aesthetic details and the grip seamlessly and beautifully molds to the X-E1 body.
