I bought this camera on sale here on ADORAMA to compare it my Canon SX60hd, another bridge camera. The Fuji takes nice images, can be used in full auto until you learn all the many options available in this sweet little camera. It would make a nice "travel" camera for the more experienced photographer.

cannot see the screen (nor those at the gas station) in sunlight. After a search and price restriction needs, I chose the Fuji model. It is heavier than I really wanted, but the price was right. I take a lot of outdoor pix for my genealogy hobby and this serves the task.

I'm very pleased to receive my new Fuji camera. It's doing every I expected so far. I have only taken still pictures at this point, some close and some far away, and some indoors and some out doors. I haven't had time to try the movie mode.

Very timely for me. A few days after I received a visitor showed up in our pond. An alligator. I used a full zoom hand held and the pictures are great. Only negative is that the wifi download to the computer will not work. Fuji admits this is an issue and states that they are working to correct this. Hope so. Otherwise a fun easy to use camera.

Seems like a great camera, having regular batteries is a good idea, Availability of alkalines is very good wide.

I am a professional illustrator and designer with a frequent need to photograph subjects for my work. I have an older Fujifilm Finepix HS series super-zoom bridge camera and it is an amazingly good camera. The wide angle to 30x zoom lens is spectacular. I also have 50x zoom bridge camera by another manufacturer and it works very well but it is not as nice as the Fujifilm HS series. So I was excited to see a very reasonably priced 50x zoom by Fujifilm and it had the addition feature I sought, WIFI that allowed downloads wirelessly as well as remote shutter operation. The Finepix S9900W seemed to have it fairly nice features except for the lack of two, an ability to tilt the back display and manual zoom by turning a lens ring. I was willing to forego those in lieu of the other advanced features. It also uses AA batteries which I view as an advantage because AA are so readily available in case the batteries fail while on a shoot. Since my previous Fuji experiences were so positive, to my surprise, I was seriously disappointed by the S9900W. Out of the box the camera felt really flimsy compared to my older Fuji HS models. But the biggest issue was the erratic autofocus which took far too long as it came in and out of focus repeatedly and at times failed to focus at all. Fuji makes some very nice cameras but I can not recommend this one. Thank goodness for the Adorama customer service. They made the return easy. Luckily there are plenty of super-zoom bridge cameras available here at Adorama with great prices. So I will be doing more research and purchasing a another one in the future with the hopes it works as well as my older bridge cameras. I highly recommend bridge cameras for beginners as well as some pros who need a flexible camera with a range of focal lengths but are hesitant about the high cost and cumbersome aspects of a DSLR with a variety of interchangeable lenses. The extreme wide angle to extreme telephoto capabilities of bridge cameras is much more analogous to the way we see subjects with our eyes and minds. You can be ready to capture an image in seconds rather than pausing to switch lenses. Obviously, the F-Stop values and some of the more precise image quality aspects may suffer but the advantage with a bridge is not missing many time-sensitive or passing opportunities to capture an image because you had the wrong lens or failed to change lenses in time.

Overall Excellent, Easy to operate, picture quality is frame-able All the features and a price you cannot say no to. Would rate 5 star except for the missing flip screen feature.

It takes great photos, and I use the macro features a great deal taking pictures of flowers and the jewelry I make. A great point and shoot camera. Recommend it highly.

I have 2 DSLR's and many lenses - However I purchased this one ( really got it for points on my credit card) to take to Mexico City because I was warned to leave my better camera at home. On my Nikon I like to travel with ONE heavy and large 18 x 300 lens.... And was looking for a point and shoot with the best OPTICAL range possible for traveling/sightseeing. I did a lot of research and all the reviews and comparisons you can do in advance and online and the result for my needs was this. One thing that some complain about is the 4 AA batteries it uses, but think about TRAVEL with the many different voltage issues from one country to another... . With AA batteries if you can't recharge your rechargeable batteries, almost everywhere in cities around the world you CAN buy AA batteries everywhere. I would have preferred carrying my bulky Nikon and that big A** lens - if I were somewhere else... But the light weight, batteries and all the things some complain about actually were a big plus for that trip. It is now one of my favorite camera's for just "walking around". Be aware that the normal complaint about point-&-shoots is the slow response time. I don't have a remedy for that, but for me I DO like to carry a camera for all my waking moments. When I'm working a photo job, NO I would not take this and have 2 Nikon's for "working". It's a great little camera in the Point-&-Shoot category. Bigger than the average P&S, but with some cool features.

If you`re like me, you want a camera with a few more bells and whistles than a compact point and shoot. The Wi-Fi is great, and although there aren`t a whole bunch of manual adjustments, it takes some fine pictures. The EVF is also much improved over the previously model. One downside, it has a cheap feel to it, very light, made of plastic. But if you were a professional photographer, you wouldn't even be considering this model anyway, right? Buy it, don`t be discouraged by camera snob 1 star reviews!

This is just an out of box review. Upon opening this camera's box, I am returning this camera. The camera build is disappointing; completely plastic and it feels like a toy. The lens zoom is electronic versus manual (what a bridge should be), the menu is limited and is the same as previous cameras, and it takes four AA batteries. If you want a point and shoot, this is your camera.

6 Scene SR AUTO (Scene Recognition Auto)
Framed scenes are automatically detected and selected into appropriate camera settings: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Night Portrait and Backlit Portrait.
Portrait
Recognizes portraits by detecting the faces quickly in the frame and optimizing focus, brightness and white balance.
Landscape
Scenic shots such as mountains and buildings are automatically recognized. Colors of the sky, forests and flower fields are captured in vivid colors and depth.
Night
For low-light and night-time scenarios, shutter speed and sensitivity are automatically adjusted, producing blur-free pictures with minimal noise.
Macro
Macro mode sets the focusing position of the details of small flowers or tiny subjects accurately.
Night Portrait
When photographing people at night or in low light, SR AUTO optimizes flash range, shutter speed and exposure of the portraits, while capturing smooth and luminous background.
Backlit Portrait
Optimizes brightness of the faces that usually end up in shadow and underexposure caused by the light behind.
Side-lever zoom control
You adjust zoom with your left hand while the index finger of your right hand rests on the shutter button, ready to take the shot and choose from three zoom speeds or use "auto back zoom" for long zoom photography.
Easy-to-hold grip
While compact, the cameras are designed to reduce camera shake at high magnifications with easy-to-hold grip with non-slip surfaces.
Dynamic Range (HDR)
This mode uses Multi Frame technology to capture three consecutive photos shot at high speed-under-exposed, normal exposure and over-exposed. The three images are then layered to an optimum balance of detail in shadow and highlights, eliminating "blackout" or "washout" and producing pleasing, natural gradations.
Zoom Bracketing Mode
Enables three shots to be taken at the single press of the button, at varying degrees of magnification (original, 1.4x and 2.0x). This enables instant editing on the camera to choose the ideal shot, rather than having to go back to a PC to facilitate a digital crop.
Natural Light & with Flash
Can't decide whether it's best to use flash Choose this mode, press the shutter and automatically capture the same scene twice: once with high sensitivity and natural light and the second time with Intelligent Flash. Later choose one or keep both!
Face Tracking Auto Focus
