Be at the forefront of secure technology with the GSR212 USB Common Access Card Reader (Non-TAA) and Smart Card Reader for CAC, PIV, and Secure Access. This device, designed by IOGEAR, is an ideal solution for civilians, non-military government workers, and professionals in sectors like banking and healthcare who require secure daily access to systems.
The GSR212 USB Common Access Card Reader functions as a communication medium between the EMV smart card and a host, such as a computer, point-of-sale terminal, or network login. The card is inserted directly into the reader, where electrical contacts retrieve the data stored in the card's chipset. This physical contact system reduces the risk of misalignment and misreading.
This smart card reader supports the EMV Level 1 specification and is designed for use with CAC middleware. It adheres to the PC Smart Card industry standard - PC/SC version 1.0/2.0 and supports ISO7816 implementation - Class A, B, and C (5V / 3V / 1.8V) Card. It is also compatible with the T0, T1 protocol and is EMV 4.1 compliant.
The GSR212 USB Common Access Card Reader supports a variety of popular memory cards, including SLE 4404, 4418, 4428, 4442, 4443, and I2C. It is compatible with the Microsoft USB-CCID driver and complies with the USB CCID Transport Specification Rev 1.1. It also features low power consumption and an LED display to show system operation and power status.
This device offers a dual multi-protocol smart card interface for the main card and auxiliary card. It complies with ISO 7816, EMV2000, GIE-CB, and WHQL Standards and supports CPU-based cards with ISO 7816 T=0 and T=1 protocol and 2 and 3 wire Memory Cards or 12C interface synchronous card. It is FIPS-201 Compliant, making it suitable for applications in government, healthcare, banking, and secure network login.
Common Access Cards, or Smart Cards, are the next generation in secure identification technology. They feature an embedded data chip for electronic verification when accessing secured systems. Unlike traditional credit cards, these EMV cards use multiple layers of security, storing more encrypted data and reducing the risk of data breaches.
The federal government issues Common Access Cards programmed with a Personal Identification Verification (PIV) chip containing the necessary data for the cardholder to be properly identified and granted access to secure federal facilities and information systems. This technology, in line with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), is rapidly spreading to other sectors requiring identity verification and secured access.
Experience the evolutionary step in convenience and security with the GSR212 USB Common Access Card Reader (Non-TAA) and Smart Card Reader for CAC, PIV, and Secure Access.
