Perfect for Home Office
This simple system works without thought or interaction by me after it is installed and set-up. Currently I allow Windows 7 backups automatically to the drive as well as using simple save for countinuous backup of my working files. Thus everything important to my home office is backed up all the time without me even thinking about it using a combination of the Windows 7 and Simple Save software. The initial set up time was about 5 minutes. I am intermediate in the computer savy category and a newby in the Window 7 operating system, so your not reading a review by an IT person.

Worst way to spend your hard earned cash
Today is the 14th of March, I have had this hard drive for 2days, 1st day i spent backing up all my work and home stuff. Today i open my brand new pavillion to migrate to HP completely and guess what on both computers to make sure everything is there and what do you know, no hard drive is being picked up, by both my Pavillion and Acer. it is ryt there on 'devices', but nothing trouble shooting could do or my Degree in IT could help. Even the HP website has no drivers or Simple save software Lost 5years worth of Material and memories in 1day.

Great buy
This is something I should have done a long time ago. I plugged in the drive and it took care of everything else. Very pleased.

Very Nice Product
I was out looking for just a simple external backup drive. I don't have tons of pics or music and I don't move from place to place with it, but I do have a lot of important data. I looked on HP's website and could not find what I wanted, then I went onto Amazon and I did not understand fully about the USB Ports. I found a drive on Amazon and found what I was looking for. That is when I called HP Customer service and told them what I was looking for and why I did not find it on their website. Well I guess if you search for the right name it was out there. They found this one for me that can also use both version of USB ports 2.0 and 3.0. It was delivered quickly and was easy to setup and work. You have to know some things about computer files. It stays active and updates when needed or you can do a backup when you feel you want to. So far it works for me. I tried doing a restore of a file and it was not that hard and worked fine. I also learned about USB ports and versions. HP helped me with that.
Thus the name Simple save data!!!!

Easy start up
Was nice and easy. Back up is automatic and stays automatic. Don't have to wonder what to do next. Well worth the price.

Hp SimpleSave 1TB External drive
This works great. I have had no problems with the backing up part or this device. Performs great!!!! However, with Win7 pro, during restart this dirive causes a Bios hang. When I turn the power off on the drive, the computer restarts with no problem. Not a big deal? Well it can be if the restart is due to a win7 update and the restart causes the update to install wrong. It always seems to be a software problem with HP.
I haven't been able to find a solution on the HP boards, nor have the support folks been able to correct. It is currently, pending with support however. It's been year now.

The best by far of 5 back-up drives tested
In the past I've used two 500GB HP SimpleSave back-up drives with 100+% satisfaction. I've also purchased them as gifts for family members. I then needed a larger, 1TB back-up drive but HP didn't make a USB powered model any larger that 500GB. So I tried 5 other brands of 750GB-1TB that were USB powered. They were all very, very disappointing compared to my excellent past experience with the 500GB HP USB powered SimpleSaves. So, I compromised and purchased the 1TB HP SimpleSave that is 110 volt wall outlet powered. It lacks one feature that the 500GB unites have, i.e., it does not display the dynamic updating screen. So, instead of being 100+% satisfied, I'm only 100% satisfied.

Can't work with out power cord
The unit worked fine for me for three months, then the power adapter cord went bad. I have searched all over to get a replacement cord with no luck. Have written HP several e-mails to get help from them with not one response back. So the unit sits under my desk doing me absolutley no good.
