Dead Ports
Not all ports worked... The HDMI port and the power port would not work out of the box. If I plugged my 2nd monitor directly into the laptop's HDMI, the monitor it worked perfectly. However, when I plugged the 2nd monitor into the dock's HDMI port, it did not work at all. Nor would the dock actually charge my laptop. I finally got in touch with a live person, and they would not even talk to me about the actual DOCK problems, because the HP laptop I use has had extra RAM installed. I simply asked for a refund at that point...

Compatible with Pavilion 16 and charges laptop
I left a review on a HP Thunderbolt 120W Dock G4 saying is was compatible with my Pavilion 16 which was wrong. I returned that for the USB-C Dock G5 which is actually the dock I ended up buying because it is truly compatible with the Pavilion 16. Charges the laptop, has all the ports I need to keep a clean desktop and connect to the Samsung TV I use for a monitor. It may be more expensive than other docking stations but they wouldn't do everything I needed. The only thing I that's comparable is the similar IBM ThinkPad dock which is around the same price.

It's fine but glitchy.
These don't seem to be very stable. I have them in my office and my third monitor has never worked properly with it. I've had others that just fail to connect to a laptop until we've rebooted the laptop 3+ times. The 1 year warranty is pretty limiting when you have issues like this.

Great docking station, all the features I need and works flawlessly so far.
I replaced a desktop PC that I built in 2010 because it would not support Windows 11. I went with a laptop to have with me when I travel and wanted to continue using my dual displays and wired network connection and sound system in my home office. This was very easy to install, update and configure and has all the features I needed.

HP USB-C Dock G5 Review
The HP USB-C Dock G5 is amazing. I'm able to plug all my accessories (2 external drives, 1 exterior monitor, my ethernet cable, and my iPhone) to support my HP laptop computer. Makes working on my laptop a breeze. I would definitely recommend this Dock.

Acceptable docking station
I bought this docking because the All-in-one computer we bought did not have a lot of external ports. I was surprised that it did not charge the computer, so you need to plug it. I wish it had a memory card slot.

HP USB-C Dock Issues
Had several problems with the Docking unit, I believe mostly related to firmware and version support. There is limited documentation or setup instructions and therefore lots of trial and error was needed to get it operational - it was not plug and play. In googling information on it, there are lots of references to issues others are having similar. Currently, it is being used with an external monitor on HDMI and Ethernet. The Ethernet is an issue as it uses a different network connection then the laptop onboard Ethernet port, and the transition is not seamless. You have to fiddle with each connection configuration to get them to operate properly. Therefore its usefulness is limited and was not worth the money spent.

HP Docking station for my HP laptop
I bought the HP docking station so that I could connect a company laptop to two 4K curved monitors and a keyboard and mouse plugged into an 4K KVM switch box and it works perfectly.

The dock has worked well since I got it. I use two monitors, a wired keyboard & mouse, and a scanner. The only issue has been it doesn't power my laptop so I have to plug the laptop and the dock into outlets at the same time.

Constantly Disconnects
Like every dock, this one also frequently disconnects and leaves you in a state of limbo where you must fully restart your laptop to get your monitors to work again.

Overall great
Convenient, sleek, compact and well-equipped with ports, the HP USB-C Dock G5 is a great dock for port-poor laptops and multi-device desk setups for any professional. It's not the cheapest dock out there, but still more affordable than some similarly decked docks, so will be a good pro option for both PC and Mac users.

Good compact docking station!
The USB C Dock G5 has been very effective in supporting my connection of 2 monitors plus my laptop. It does not take up an inordinate amount of desk space. Very pleased after 1 month of use. Using with an HP Elitebook 745 G6 and 2 24" monitors.
