Overall, I was pretty impressed. Its looks great and it gives you your money's worth when it comes to performance. I was looking for something that gave great sound and that I can use for music and video and this SE model gives me these and more. Love the lighted keybboard. Beats and HP gives me the best of both worlds!

I recently received my new HP envy 14 beats edition and cant complain. I purchased it along with the slim fit battery and am able to use it periodically through out two days with out needing to plug it into the wall. I use the computer for school and music and enjoy the noticeable difference in sound when i plug my computer into the stereo system as opposed to listening to music off of my roommates' Dell or Toshiba.

Overall this machine is solid. This is as close as you will get to getting a black MacBook pro. Some might think the screen is not great but it is easy on the eyes. Pair this with a pair of beats pro headphones and you won't be disappointed on audio. I am a Mac fan and don't regret buying this machine for windows use.

I received my laptop a few weeks ago, and have spent a good amount of time using it. I really like it, and it's very quick. A few gripes though: 1. The screen's viewing angles are not nearly as good as those on my Macbook Pro, and I find myself readjusting the tilt frequently. 2. My notebook doesn't actually sit flat on a surface, it teeters back and forth about 2mm. Quality Control issue I guess... 3. The top gets covered in fingerprints easily. 4. As far as software, the volume keys do not work when the most recent thing clicked is a flash video. You then need to click outside the frame to adjust volume. Overall it's a solid machine, especially for what I paid, and would buy again. I want to get my machine swapped out, but I can't be without a laptop for any period either.

This laptop is definitely a good buy, I would recommend it. I am leaving a MacBook Pro, so I was looking for a suitable replacement. From all the research I did, only HP looked to have a good competitor in their Envy Series. I wasn't concentrating on specs- every computer can have good specs. I was focusing on build quality. Something that could stand HP out from the competition, especially the very well built Macs. The Bad: - Battery Life is a bit short for my tastes, especially considering the $1,000 price tag. - Keyboard sinks in when you put pressure on it, but not too much. This is not something most people complain about, but its a build quality thing for me. On a Mac, the keyboard stays. - Screen angles not very good. Considering the price, the screen should have wider viewing angles. A slight tilt will change the color of the screen. - I expected a more aluminum body (but look at the good) The Good: - Excellent build quality. Feels solid. Although I expected a more aluminum body, I am told that the regular envy series are the ones that have that. The Beats edition has a more rubberized feel to it. Im guessing because of the music. - Red Backlit keyboard looks amazing. - Very stylish laptop. - Good sound put of speakers. GREAT sound out of headphone jacks. - Two headphone jacks come in useful. - Screen Colors are good (except when tilted) - FAST. - NEVER runs hot. I really like this. The mac i switched from (not very old) always ran hot. This runs very cool. Even under pressure. - The keyboard is amazing. I don't know what it is, but its design makes it so much more enjoyable to type. The computer closely resembles a mac in build quality, which is good. although it doesn't quite get there. Just needs a bit of fine tuning. Don't get me wrong, however, this computer has an excellent build quality. I am happy with it. I purchased it with the standard configuration and it works very fast. My biggest gripe would be the battery life. Macs are getting 7 hours these days, and this one barely reaches 4. If I'm lucky. You can always purchase the extended battery and get up to 3 times the life, however.
