Powerful, Light, and Small
I am very pleasantly surprised by the EliteBook 840 G8. I bought it for a great price and am very happy with it. (Please keep in mind that the PC was release approx. 2 years ago.) It is very compact, lightweight, nearly silent, and runs well. I have owned it for three weeks. So far, it is works well for basic Office apps and internet browsing. I intend to upgrade the existing RAM and Solid State Drive (SSD). I'm upgrading not because of any problems, but because I like the PC so much. Also the PC's very reasonable price makes upgrades an easy choice. I intend to use this heavily for Adobe Photoshop.
If there is one downside, it is the small screen, but I purposely bought a small device for its small profile and light weight. To offset this, I use a HP docking station and two monitors, and it works very well. I highly recommend the EliteBook 840 G8 for someone needing compact, flexible power.

A great bit of tech
it is an awesome laptops for all but the most demanding user. Super happy with this purchase as part of a black friday sale. NOTE: it has a wonderful keyboard and a very bright screen.

Fast Laptop; battery struggles to hold a change
Super fast and easy to set up. A little disappointed in the battery life. Pretty dead after 2-3 days of non-use.

Solid Windows Laptop
Lightweight, bright screen, reliable (so far) -- a good alternative to Lenovo products, and a good Windows computer overall. Not a super-great value, but a fair price for what you get.

This laptop is amazing and as reviewed online!
Love this laptop. Online reviews and 100s of them 4/5 start made this pick very easy. This laptop did not disappoint and worked exactly as reviewed by so many technical folks online. During Windows 10 to 11 switch I lost full functionality of two of our office computers hence I purchased this. HP recommending Windows 10 Pro over 11 reflects lots of love, care and courage on HP's part. HP is run by beautiful technical folks; top to bottom and bottom up indeed : ^ ) !

The G8 Elitebook is "outstanding"
The G8 Elitebook is everything I'd hoped for in a business laptop, but for personal use. The most cool feature is the biometric fingerprint reader to log you in. I also like the WolfPro Security feature, the speed, performance, and stability of the laptop.

The extras that make to EBook useable
It's hard to tell. HP sent me the wrong power connectors, so I couldn't charge it. Because I was leaving on a trip, I had to buy a replacement as HP wouldn't replace it in time. Then the tab for the wireless mouse/keyboard that I ordered as a suggested accessory wouldn't fit, and, since I am a poor touchpad user, the EBook had been useless so far.

Nice computer but the Casing has sharp edges SUCKS
Great computer for computering BUT the outer case on this computer has sharp edges. The case is actually uncomfortable to a be laptop.

Great Light
We had 840G1 we replaced with 840 G8
G1 work ing well but My daughter dropped and giving little trouble so we replaced with 840g8 I'm glad we did it. Because so much updates and light weight hopefully it will last long.

No ethernet slot
Not having an actual ethernet slot is a real pain, I had to spend $$ on an adapter that does not work well and then had to spend much more money on a docking station.

Brand new EliteBook 840 is failing already
Camera is losing the left side of the image, even though it's less than a month old. Shoddy components! Fingerprint sensor is totally unreliable, compares unfavorably to any Apple device

Excellent laptop, great price.
Love this laptop. It's very fast and the keyboard is excellent. It's lightweight enough to bring to client sites and travel. The screen is very clear and Windows 11, so far, is working flawlessly. The price was excellent (bought during promo period) and shipped out very quickly.

All set up...
Just unpacked and setup the laptop. Install worked like a charm, including the upgrade to Windows 11. Laptop seems FAST. Now to find a thunderbolt dock.
I noticed that the HP support assistant says that my warranty started on 11/7 but I purchased on 12/5. I'll have to call about this.

Well-built modern laptop - made to last
This is the best laptop for the money, hands down. Nice bright display, great keyboard, and faster than I would ever need it to be. For such a light laptop it is powerful and has a long-lasting battery. I bought my wife an Elite book a few years ago and she has been very happy with it. You can definitely find a cheaper laptop, but the quality of this one seems well worth the little extra.

Great Value Business Laptop!
Great PC so far. Coming from a Mac Book Pro I wanted to have a quality PC that will last. I've had this laptop for a couple weeks now and am very impressed. It's very fast, great battery life, screen looks great, enclosure feels solid.
I added an additional 16gb stick of ram (8gb Included) that has improved the performance as well.
One item I wish was included was a SD Card reader. However for $15 you can snag one online.
Overall a great Business Laptop that I am utilizing for Personal use!
