This Computer starts up in seconds after hitting the power button; it's very fast, light, and should meet all of my needs once I learn Windows 8. My last HP notebook was running Vista. That computer worked fine but technology progresses and this is ultrabook is taking advantage of the new technology. The battery lasts about 5 hours on a charge and the new Windows 8 program appears to be more efficient in alternating between applications. I look forward to learning the new operating system and enjoying this new machine. The only downside with this computer is that it attracts fingerprints.

Microsoft Windows 8 is bar far their worst operating system, I now have no choice but to go buy Apple products. That being said, within a week of purchase I noticed that the keyboard was defective. I did a Google search, and found hundreds of others with the same exact problem. The space bar has dead zones on the lower portion, so every word you type gets connected to the next words. I have been typing on a laptop for almost 15 years, and never had a problem like this. Even after repair by HP, same problem although only in one spot now. Then when I got this laptop back from HP repair, I immediately started experiencing a new problem. After speaking with tech support at HP, this new laptop needs a motherboard or Intel processor replacement. Do yourself a favor, buy anything but this HP ENVY 1130us. Hopefully HP's Customer Satisfaction department will look into this.

Upgrading from a computer that is a decade old, anything would seem better, but we've always relied on HP products and the Envy Ultrabook is easy to use and quick enough to keep us very satisfied. This is a well designed product which is lightweight and versatile. While we've considered cheaper products and other manufacturers, HP designs products that meet our needs better than any other.

The HP ENVY 4-1130us 14" Ultrabook Computer from Hewlett Packard features a midnight black brushed aluminum body with a red soft-touch base. The 14" HD BrightView widescreen display is backlit with LED lights, which are more energy efficient than their CCFL counterparts. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 1366 x 768 native resolution, provided by integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Windows 8 is the installed operating system. Windows 8 replaces the traditional Start menu with a redesigned Start screen. The Start screen features tiles that update in real-time, which provide faster access to news, weather forecasts, sports scores, social network updates and more. Windows 8 also focuses more on cloud storage as well as apps, which can be downloaded from the Windows Store. Windows 8 provides a unique user experience.
The system is powered by a dual-core Ivy Bridge 1.7GHz Intel Core i5-3317U processor. It also has 6GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB 5400rpm hard drive with a 32GB solid state drive cache, a 2-in-1 media card reader, 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, an integrated webcam and digital microphone. There are also built-in stereo speakers with a subwoofer, which utilizes Beats Audio.
