Worse printer I've ever owned! I have had a lot of HP printers in my time but this one goes down as the worse printer I have ever owned! It jams constantly whether I print from the front or the bottom try, using the best paper out there. It smears toner on every document I try and print. I have cleaned it and it still does not help. For as much as this printer cost and the toner it uses-non of which are at bargain prices, I don't think I will ever buy another one again. I DO NOT recommend this product.

Very unhappy with this HP. I've always purchased HP printers for my home office, but this one has left me devastated. It worked on Saturday, but on Sunday it would not turn on. After checking all connections, the cord and the outlet, I have concluded that something on an inner board has gone bad with no warning whatsoever. It worked ok for as long as it worked, but it was never quite right, and certainly not as good as my previous HP Laserjet Pro (in the 200 series). The printer/copier/scanner/fax were not heavily used by any standard, and in fact, many days it was not used at all. This was a very disappointing purchase, and now I have very expensive toner I cannot use and have to go through the painful process of buying a new printer. I wish there was something someone could do to help...

Why print a color page when it takes forever to print! Latest firmware installed, unplug and replug, and wait for 15 minutes. Very unhappy!

They will remove this post. I guarantee you if you’re reading this you will remember after the hundred plus times restarting, “service error 79” also after every restart telling the printer to print only black, there could not be more issues with this unit. Additionally I am having trouble with my back up HP printer. Replaced old, worn out LaserJet Pro that saw heavy use for about 7 years. Just after warranty expired I have a aggravating problem with this one. It has seen light use and I take care of my equipment. Message says remove paper from paper tray and clear jam to printer. Problem is there is no paper jam. I have been all through the printer many times. I cleaned all the rollers with alcohol and q tips, used canned air throughout, and cannot think what to do next. Looked it up on reader sites regarding printing issues with this model, followed as many as were reasonable. I cannot print, scan, copy, do any functions til that message clears. It has been this way for 10 months. Paid close to $500.00 for this printer & cannot afford another at this time. I have had this one for about 4 years, only 3 of light use really.

This printer is very lightweight and flimsy. I'm having toner issues, admittedly I went to refurbished after the starter cartridges ran out, I am purchasing genuine HP to see if it resolves the problems of spots and smears, but the price difference is huge.It does seem to have an efficient auto feed for scanning/copying documents. The print set dialogue boxes are very limited.

For once I had no issues on the install. Everything connected smoothly and I was back up and running. Now if you could just figure out how to get your ink toner prices dropped I and most of your customers would appreciated the help.

A little disappointed in having to buy ANOTHER printer within 3 Years. My last HP M477FNW only lasted 3 years when the fuser/drum went bad and a new fuser cost as much as a new printer and since we had the INK still left, we felt it best to purchase another unit so we could use up the expensive INK. Other than being very disappointed that the printer did not last more than 3 years and we are not a heavy user, the unit works well

The feeder jams when you put more than10 pieces of paper in it. I’m going to try to use thicker paper and see if that helps, but as of now, not impressed and really won’t be impressed if I have to buy more expensive paper to scan my business documents.

Use this in an office environment for two people to use as needed. Bought a protection plan as well through Square Trade via Office Depot. It has been looked at 5 different times and had parts replaced every time. Now we need to buy $500 worth of toners to "test" our $500 printer. We've purchased 9 HP printers in the last 18 months and 3 of them are already dead. The quality of these HP printers is just not what it used to be.

I have an old HP7580 and a recent HP8600 (that has crapped out after only a few years) - and a trusty HP2015 laser. The M477 seems like a robust machine.

HP printer products I had purchased # 12 in the last 10 years. This is my second HP Color LaserJet same series. I'm very happy with the product, except the # 1 Purchased in Oct 2016. Has been working great until I printed labels. One got stock inside, I din't real eyes that I run out of guaranty. The cost of fixing the printer was as much the cost of a new one. Too bad, this printer with a good care will last for long time. I use this devise for the office. The ink cartridges are expensive but you get your money worth.

received yesterday worked perfect till it goes on and off it has a built in fax but if the phone line is connected printer wont go to sleep and left on very loud and annoying have always had HP printers and never had this problem and Support says take it or leave it no fix

Well, Let me first say that I am not some computer and tech Luddite that can't work a piece of technology. I am very familiar with components, etc. etc. This printer is junk. I really hate to say, because i researched it, bought one and had full confidence in the company and the product. My first inclination that something was wrong was when I made a scan and it was crooked. I made another. Same thing. I then did some google searches, as one might. I learned that some seem to have had alleged success with entering an intentionally hidden secondary menu and calibrating the scanner. I tried that, no luck. I called HP's tech support. They informed me that this machine has a 1mm printing variance for "crooked" variance and a 1mm to 3mm variance for scanning. Therefore, if you print a document that you later intend to scan (like a doctors appointment sheet or something else), you may well have, within variance, an up to 4mm crooked document. I indeed did. After much testing with the tech, he agreed to send out a tech to look at the printer and replace the scanning bar. There was little to no improvement. So I headed back over to Best Buy (where I purchased it) and exchanged it for a Cannon. PROS: Fast printing, relatively quiet, great software CONS: Very unprofessional printing and scanning, text is not very crisp (definitely not near as much as I expected an HP to be, especially for being dubbed a "business" printer). ALL IN ALL: Don't bother with this machine. Their on-site tech said they have a ton of issues with the automatic document feeder because the roller bar is too small and the scanner bar is of very low quality.

I bought a MFP M477fnw a month ago from Office Depot. I did not try out all of the functions right away, so when I did try and use the scanner it would jam and damage documents. I did not have time to wait on HP to give me support on making repairs or replacements. I needed a printer right away and thought this new printer would work like it should. Office Depot was not helpful with the return at all. HP just wanted to repair and replace this horrible printer when I wanted a refund so I could purchase a better product immediately and get business rolling. If you buy an HP printer please try out all the functions right away so you don’t end up with a useless printer that will slow down business.

This printer is nice, it prints quite quickly, I just don't like that the double sided printing isn't automatic. You have to insert the paper back in manually for it to print on the other side. I wish I read that more carefully before ordering this printer. Other then that, it's fine.

Very useful and functional printer. Easy to connect with wireless capability. Prints neat and quick. Worth the money. Not a lightweight; I put it on the bottom shelf so the downfall is one has to bend to use and fill the printer, but that is the operator's dilemma.

Great except to change the tray to legal means it is sticking out at the front as apposed to the back like the previous printers like the 1320tn. I think that is a mistake as the open tray is in the way...that should revert back to the back of the printer.

Arrived in time for a most important job and it continued to jam, no matter what paper I put in. The box arrived, looking basically OK with some crushing on one side. When removed from the box, both foam supports were damaged and could not be reused when unit was returned for credit. Did purchase another HP product which is working okay.

I bought this about a month ago and had nothing but excellent results. The color prints look great. I’ve used it several times to make pictures. The faxing and scanning functionality is definitely a plus.

I had an HP laser Jet prior that lasted a long time, it was a good device but was much louder and considerably slower than the new models. This unit is efficient and replaces not only the old print but other devices as well. So I print for less and also have less clutter and it does it all in less time.
