This machine is wonderful - the keyboard feels comfortable, the screen is great in bright light and easily to adjust and it's fast and quiet and cool, except during an update. At that point you hear the fan and it runs warm. It's temporary. Excited that it arrived with an HDMI port! Unexpected - specs said it would not on this version. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the 720p webcam. I mean, it's fine in a well-lit space, but 5MP would be a reasonable camera for this machine, especially since it is stock on the Elite Book series. Maybe they assume that people will get their own external...? I did. Webcam aside, very happy with this machine, especially having gotten it on sale

Probably the best laptop I've ever owned. Very fast, very quiet, doesn't overheat. I barely miss the numberpad and larger screen my 17" Alienware laptop had. (I had worried about it.) But this was definitely much better in every way.

i have only had this for a few days now and I never splurged on such an expensive computer before. I would not have this time either but when HP was selling it at 75% off, and I needed one badly, I did some research online and found it had a great rep so I ordered it. It is so obviously so much better than the HP it is replacing but I am finding a few quirks now that are irritating me. Perhaps it is a matter of finding a setting but I looked and can't find any settings to change. Like when I am in email, in outlook. With other machines, I could use the down arrow on the inbox column and hit delete etc. I can with this one too but I can't use the arrows to move horizontally between the inbox and the email. I also can't use the backspace key to go back. I am shocked that such an expensive one makes me have to use the touchpad up to the top left to click the back arrow. I am loving the all day battery and access to the machine with the built in fingerprint reader. I really want to be able to use the reader to take the place of Last Pass and other password rememberer and sign in sites. I can't find a way to do that either. Such a waste.

I purchased my ZBook Studio G8 as a business computer. I work in the IT world so I have plenty of power to run my VMs and still have plenty of power to run my applications. PhotoShop just flies on this machine. I don't use the laptop display much, but when I have the display is gorgeous and snappy. The fans are quiet and it runs much cooler than my previous non-HP mobile workstation did. With it's i9 processor, NVIDIA graphics, 32 GB of RAM, and fast 2TB SSD, this is the fastest laptop or workstation that I have ever used. The only thing that I am sad about, is that I can't buy more of them at the price that I paid at the HP Store!

I knew this was going to be one fantastic laptop but it's even a thousand times better then I had imagined. First impressions, right out of the box I love the style, the look. It has a very impressive sleek design and thin, light and a good size. For such a small computer it sure does pack a punch. Just first seeing the screen and the quality I was blow away. The colors and everything is majorly impressive. I can't get over how amazing the screen quality truly is. The sound is also pretty nice to. Very sharp and rich. Great for game play. Now to get in to more of the specs this computer truly is a beast. It has RTX 3070 and it is one fine laptop. This computer would be not only great for gaming but also perfect for editing and it's also a professional laptop as well. It will multitask without even batting an eye. It plays games on high settings, it truly is a powerhouse. Has all the space I'll ever need for games. It's super fast. The track pad is wonderful and I love the size. I don't like overly large track pads it's also very smooth. I like the feel of the keyboard too. It's got a fast charge. And I can play games for a good while when I have a full charged battery. Transfering files over WiFi is super fast. Has all the ports I need to plug in my accessories. This laptop is so impressive it's built so well and I'm blown away with how powerful it is and the graphics. I'm more then pleased with it and I'd be happy to recommend.

I received this laptop about 2-3 weeks ago. I've spent all of that time using it as my main laptop for work and fun. I am a programmer so I push my systems to the limit. I use VSCode, database servers and many other web development tools. I also use graphical tools like Figma for design (and Adobe XD). The Zbook sailed through these without any issue. Battery life was also far above what I expected. Easily lasting all day use. Only in the evening if I decided to play some games it would need to be plugged in. I played some world of warcraft and Half-Life Alyx (VR game). This laptop was easily able to handle these games with full details turned on). The keyboard is top notch, track pad is great. I still wish it was closer to what a Macbook's track pad is like. But this is the best one I've used besides that. The screen is 4K and clear! Blacks are inky deep, and it's perfect for this caliber of a laptop. All in all, this is one of the best work laptop you can buy. It easily tops out my wife's Thinkpad. And in terms of graphics power, it is the best system I own (even beating out a 2 year old desktop I have). Highly recommended, get one!

If you want a small form factor, but the most power you can get for performance work and gaming, look no further. This thing is a beast. The keyboard has travel to it. It feels a little different from your average laptop keyboard and takes some getting used to, but I actually prefer the way it feels once you do. Words per minute at least for me are better on this laptop than other laptops I've had. The trackpad is a pretty standard size and works flawlessly. Nothing to complain about there. It has 2 USB-C ports on one side and 1 USB-A on the other. There is a headphone jack and a full SD Card reader which is nice. There's no HDMI port, but a mini DisplayPort instead. You'll have no trouble hooking HDMI through a mini DisplayPort adapter for projects. The stereo speakers have a very clean and crisp sound. It doesn't have the bass of a home sound system, but they're definitely one of the best you can get on a laptop. Under the hood, there's not much you can upgrade other than the SSD. Even the RAM is soldered on, but with these specs, I wouldn't expect to need an upgrade. Gaming performance on it is as expected with the RTX 3070. Given the small form factor, the cooling is adequate, but not over the top. It has a calmer lower-pitch noise to it when the fans are at work. It stays at a good temperature with new AAA games. You are compromising a few frames for a more compact laptop due to a lack of space for extreme cooling, but it's plenty powerful enough as it is. The display is as accurate to true colors as it gets. You can be confident with Photoshop or After Effects that you don't have to compensate for screen color distortion. I do 3D 8K video editing with After Effects for a show using four projectors for the holidays. I never thought something this small could handle a task like this with such ease. I can take this laptop outside and do editing right at my house! The bottom line, this is the most robust laptop of its size. It weighs less than 4 pounds and is less than 3/4 of an inch thick. Looking at it and holding it, you'll be amazed that it is more powerful than many workstation desktops on the market today.

The HP ZBook Studio G8 has completely exceeded all of my expectations. First of all I love the lightweight feel of this system. It is easy to transport anywhere. It also has a very tight durable build. No looseness or bounce when opening and closing the unit. The graphics are absolutely stunning. From running applications to gaming, the graphic quality is off the charts. I especially love the speed of this ZBook. It is so fast! Even when switching between applications there is no lag time at all.The keyboard is lit and adds an extra touch. I highly recommend this awesome ZBook. I have been happily impressed.

I would like to say that I am not a professional in the field of electronics and my review will be based on things I find important, versus how this might stack up to building your own machine etc. I find those reviews to be more helpful for people who want to know the basics and beyond but aren't expecting a scholar-level breakdown. This is a fairly expensive price point for a laptop in my opinion. This means that it must be stacked with memory and the graphics should be next level. Both were true with this having internal and SSD memory which surpasses my needs by a lot and I can expect this to be pretty top-tier for people needing a ton of memory. I would expect gamers and engineers, or people who live on their laptops to find this to be helpful. The graphics to me were amazing and vivid. Having recently upgraded most of my electronics, I am blown away by how far we have come and this is no exception. I am also used to lugging around a heavy machine with this screen size as most of the dinosaurs came with a CD drive making it much heavier. This weighs very little and is razor-thin. I believe about 4 millimeters. There is no extra bulk where unnecessary and I really like that. At 15.6 inches, most laptops are simply not transportable but this is a breeze to take on the go. It does still need a large sleeve but won't be heavy or bulky. Starting up the laptop is fun. I have owned HP laptops in the past but nothing compared to this model. The keyboard has a backlight that has a cool starting process that shows the lights cascading while the computer boots. The startup is simple as can be. Luckily it's a walkthrough where you simply pick your region, time zone, etc. It allows you to choose things or skip certain steps which are nice as well. I also like that you have the option to opt out of sharing certain information. Possibly the most important thing for me was having the choice of using Windows 10 or 11. I am not sure if I am in the majority here, but I am team Windows 10 (at least at this point) and having the choice to upgrade if I choose to do so was nice. All in all, loading the computer after imputing the choices took less than 10 minutes. There were updates along the way and still are but this computer loads up so quickly, it's hardly worth mentioning. Restart to a fully loaded screen is about 2 minutes maybe less. It easily converted my gmail account over so all my bookmarks were ready to go once I downloaded Chrome. It comes with Microsoft Edge and again, in a matter of personal preference, I don't use that. I downloaded my email app and a few other things and I was off and running. Another thing to note that I did not love was the missing numerical keypad. One, my wrist naturally places itself on the keyboard to access that, and not having one while not a deal-breaker is not my favorite. For the money, I should be swimming in features and this is one that was particularly confusing to me. It didn't save room as they drew out the keyboard to fit the build so it was a missed opportunity in my opinion. The battery life is incredible. It lasts longer than my cell. I am constantly on it and it will last all of my days only to lose power late into the night. I charged it up fully out of the box (which was also packed well) and it lasted almost 2 days. Lugging around chargers is such a pain so that was a nice surprise. The charger is a slim yet big charger which makes it easy to conceal but nonetheless heavy. I don't use much in the way of photography apps such as Photoshop but I imagine this would run that or another program that is similar in a beautiful way. The resolution is truly breathtaking and the sound is just as impressive. I downloaded VLC to see what I could mess around with (again I know very little about sound controls and specialty programs) but found watching movies to be very pleasant. The sound is loud and clear, and a fun way to pass time in a fight. My last laptop had speakers that made it almost impossible to hear anything over the engines so this is a much-improved upgrade for me. To me, it comes down to battery life, durability, speed, screen resolution, sound, and performance. This definitely ticks the boxes but perhaps someone with more experience with electronics would be more adept at explaining the cost breakdown. I think it comes down to the beautiful dream color display and fast charging time added to the memory. Overall, I am truly blown away with what HP has put out. This is worth it although a bit on the higher end of a laptop cost-wise. Again, you might think this is a steal, so it's a matter of what you are used to and compare to. Add a number pad and I will give this a 5* rating without issue. Highly recommend all levels of familiarity with the levels of laptop know-how.

I work from home so I need a good workstation, this laptop is it! It has so many features and the OLED 4k video quality is the best. It's lightweight yet durable, the keyboard is spill proof and if you do make a mess there is a drain hole so nothing is ruined. The i9 core and RTX 3070 are awesome gaming is on a while new level. No one can get into it without me knowing thanks to the fingerprint sensor. And the design is appealing it's tough and rugged looking, plus it's only 4 pounds!

First off, let me tell you this computer is only 4lbs, but the performance per pound is off the charts! The monitor is sharp and crisp and great for both work applications and anything gaming. The keyboard is fantastic and responsive. The touchpad works well too (my only small gripe is the lack of dedicated touchpad buttons). The battery life is 12/10 as it just keeps going and going. The specs on this device just make this the best computer you can own, I highly recommend this ZBook and should be something anyone considers when looking at not only a laptop, but a workstation.

We played 8k vids on youtube and you forgot you were looking at a screen, everything was life-like. It goes get a little hot on the bottom because fans are on the edge instead of underneath so we'll get external fans and be good to go. Its a combination of gaming laptop and mobile workstation. GeForce RTX 3070 which is extremely powerful with great cooling to support it. Its keyboard has RGB rainbow backlighting. Its 15.6" 3840 x 2160 HDR IPS display is great both for gaming and video processing. Very lightweight (less than 4lbs), even with all the powerful internals. The HP Zbook G8 Mobile Workstation is an extraordinary work, play, and everyday laptop PC. The laptop proved to be an incredibly capable and powerful workstation PC in an exceptionally slim case for every task I threw at it. This mobile workstation is easily a 9.5/10, and only a few minor issues keep it from a perfect 10/10. I've broken it down into three sections the best features, the good qualities, and places that could be improved in later releases. The Excellent: The first component of this laptop that stood out to me was the screen. The screen is a marvel at 3840x2160 native resolution, and scaling to 200% is needed, but it's the sharpest PC or Laptop screen I've ever used (as an IT professional, I have used dozens of PCs). The Nvidia RTX 3070 discrete GPU handles most games with ease (a popular redemption-focused open-world western game benchmarked at an average of 39 FPS on just under Ultra settings). The Bang & Olufsen speakers offer tremendous sound performance from a laptop (the bass is relatively deep, and vocals are crisp). Any streaming media (music, movies, podcasts, etc.) sound fantastic. The laptop's stock configuration running Windows 11 was benchmarked with a PCMark 10 score of 5426. This impressed me as it's just slightly lower than the gaming PC I built towards the end of 2020. One of the handiest and best features is the easily overlooked fingerprint reader. It integrates with Windows Hello, allowing for biometric login and authentication. The 12 core Intel i7 CPU can efficiently multitask whatever needs to be done. I could not get this laptop to lock up except for using applications while running a burn-in test (maxing CPU and GPU usage intentionally). This mobile workstation laptop is oozing power and is highly responsive no matter what task (web browsing, office work, games, system administration, etc.) is running. If you need desktop performance on the go, this laptop fits the bill. The Good: It's good to use the HP Support Assistant software to keep the laptop's drivers and BIOS patches up to date. It's one of the first things I did when setting this workstation up. Many OEMs don't provide this support and instead direct you to their website. HP offers its users an excellent service for security and stability purposes by making this easy. The cooling fan kept the temperature below 175F when playing one of the most graphically intensive games mentioned earlier. The screen cleans up easily with a microfiber cloth and LCD spray. The built-in battery lasted 2.5-3 hours of moderate CPU and GPU usage (streaming video and a lightweight game). Impressive, given the size and weight of the laptop. When running on battery power, the laptop is light enough (as a workstation) to move around and work. The 200w power supply cord is made of what appears to be nylon braided mesh for lasting durability. The keyboard and trackpad work well together. The keys are responsive, don't stick, and the spacing of the keys is spot on. The keyboard also contains a handy programmable HP button that can be assigned to a website, application, etc., to launch a repeated task efficiently. The backlight on the keyboard changes RGB colors, which I've never seen before on a laptop. The trackpad is an ample size to be easily used. Honestly, no massive issues are holding this laptop back for me from suggesting it to anyone, especially those needing on-the-go performance. The Potential for Improvement: When playing a game or performing any GPU/CPU-intensive work, the palm rest, and sometimes the keys do warm up considerably. It's not uncomfortable unless you're using it for a long time (1 hour or more personally). When the volume is up high enough, you'll feel the music on the palm rest since there are two speakers just below each side. I am not a big fan of the SD card slot insert. To use an SD card, you have to push in on the left side, making the right side pop out slightly, and then pull out the SD card insert to use it. The workstation has a bulky 200w power supply that is not the most mobile. Additionally, the AC plug on the power supply is an HP proprietary design. This isn't a dealbreaker, but a USB-C power input would make for more versatility moving forward. In my years of using and repairing HP laptops, these plugs tend to be a weak point and should be treated gently. This is expected for a system with such a powerful CPU and GPU as there is a need for ample electricity. Finally, the 720p webcam seems like one of the weaker points if this laptop is used for meetings. Every other component appears to be premium, but the webcam feels neglected. This could be a hardware limitation, given the size of the bezel, but given the migration to a mobile workforce, this is undoubtedly an area of improvement.
