new laptop HP 255 G9

purchased on line and did not realize the laptop did not have a cd player. Also the changes made to the basic software cause many issues the previous HP laptop did not have. attempts to correct issues is not possible . HP needs to look back and see how great the older units were and make updates or corrections. Many people i talk to have the same problems and are thinking of not buying HP. I called HP and received no help or replacement suggestions or offers.

Just ok

I wanted a basic laptop just for email and web browsing. I would have rated this 5 stars, except it has locked up solid 3 times due to overheating within a few days. I had to set the fan in BIOS to be on all the time, which has helped so far, but shouldn't have to, since Fan doesn't kick on soon enough to cool it down.

Bare-bones, no frills laptop - does the job.

We needed a straight-forward , no-frills laptop for a specific application, and the G9 meets those criteria. The maximum internal screen resolution is only 1366x768, which is not great, but it will drive a 1920x1080 external display. The display is large and easy to see, and it does have a USB-C port - which is useful. Overall, it performs as advertised.

Not a fantastic computer

Definitely not as nice as the last $1500 HP I had. It does not even support facial recognition or thumbprint access, only a PIN to lock the computer. Screen is not very HD at all. I spent three hours on with Microsoft support just to get it to recognize my printer drivers. Thankfully I got it on sale or I would return it if I had have paid the full amount for it.

Be sure to look at the keyboard features and confirm if you want backlit keyboard or not. This one does not....$1,600 retail laptop without a backlit keyboard....what a joke.
