Works great at an even better price
This handy little laptop works well - just as advertised. he price was very reasonable as well.

Crashed on update
The first time an update came through after the initial set up it crashed. Blue screen and wouldn't even boot up. Needed to use it later that day. It didn't happen. HP is sending a USB stick that will wipe the machine and start over. Not a good start for this computer. This review may be upgraded when the issue is resolved if HP asks for another review. Customer Service person was great to work with and very patient. Spent over 90 minutes trying to get it to come back before resorting to the sending new software.

Nice Processor and Options, Bloatware could use some QC
This laptop is comparable to the others at this price point. I chose the HP for the simple reason that it's equipped with legacy USB ports that are unavailable on the Dell. (a real necessity if your not looking to change out your mouse, backup drive, CD and printer or adding a hub). I also liked the option of the AMD chip.
I have only had this for a week, so I cannot "fully" review operation. However, myHP (what ever that is) never worked, it just spun trying to load. Most disappointing, the HP Support Assistant would load, but none of the "tests" (with the exception of battery test) would run, And after a four hour chat and multiple tries with support, they could not figure out the problem. So I was left with the older version of SA and the supervisors promise that: "sometime in the future" I will be able to update to the "newer" version.
My breath is not being held.

Good product
Overall preforms well. Display is great. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the case feels flimsy and cheap.

non functioning laptop

Not all HP's allow USB-C Charging
Almost any search and the person we talked to from HP customer service led us to believe that you can charge any new HP through the USB-C dock. This was not the case for us. When we received the laptop we learned that the USB-C on the one we ordered was data only.
We bought the laptop for our 87 year old mother and wanted to simplify it. Just posting this review to let potential customers know that you need to figure out how to do expansive research if there is a specific feature you are interested in.

Can't beat this home Laptop
This is a nice sleek little laptop. I love the size and the keyboard. The keys feel very comfortable like a regular keyboard that you type on. The speed is fast, I absolutely love it and the price was so cheap. I'm glad I got this model.

Great deal and ready for upgrades!
Well, what to say?I'm an HP loyalist as this is my 4th HP computer over the last ten years. I bought this laptop with the intention of upgrading the Ram Memory to turn it into a powerhouse capable of using the AMD processor to its fullest potential.
Its a bit challenging opening it up but there are videos online showing how to do it?be patient. Once you upgrade the Ram memory then this is crazy fast easily matching the performance of HP laptops that are twice the cost.
The screen is quite good but you'll have to jack up the brightness as the nit number is 250. This is comparable with even the HP Envy which I own.
This laptop has great ports HDMI to USB and SD card.
The BAD: the keyboard really is cheap?it's certainly functional but your fingers will grow sore n tired if you're extensively typing on it. I have the HP Envy and its keyboard is a dream to type on?and this one is clicky and feels a definite step down. The touchpad is also springy and uneven in feel. It works but you shouldn't rely on it?go with the mouse.
The VERDICT: get this to save 600-700 bucks as its performance will match the speed and graphical prowess of a device twice the price but don't expect your fingers to thank you if want to do extensive typing.

Portable workstation: Best laptop Ive ever owned.
I feel like Hp knows their consumer base
This laptop is a portable workstation for the average user (non gamer)
pro: The best display I have ever used. It has an antiglare display and It does not give you eyestrains in the dark or in a lit room. super vibrant colors and everything looks sharp. The black color is dark and bold. It makes the words more legible and easy to read. 14 in is also perfect size enough for me to view comfortably without sacrificing portability. Sound quality is great too.
fast charge and battery also lasts long
Its fast for basic office word, browsing the net and basic games eg emulating 3ds , ds games.
cons: The keyboard takes time to get used to. Its not extremely tactile or bouncy when I press on it but it is doable.
trackpad is also not the best. I have to press down hard to click but its doable when I adjust the trackpad settings in windows.
Despite the antiglare display you cant use it in bright light eg when the sunlight is shining directly behind you. This is only a minor issue its not a deal breaker when the screen quality is soo good that it does not give me any eyestrain.
I have used mac air 13.3 in display and It really strained my eyes and the screen was very tiny in comparison to the 14 display. HP nailed down the basics. Display quality is important when your carrying around your laptop and you don't have an external monitor. Ive also tried their 14 in hp laptop with a glossy display and amd athlon silver processor and it too has a really nice display. This is the best laptop for those who plan to carry around their laptops and want to work remotely.

Easy to handle
Love the sleekness of the laptop. It's much lighter and easier to handle than my 17" laptop. Be very careful when wiping/cleaning keyboard. I swiped my hand across mine to brush away lent and I popped a couple of keys off. One cracked and the other one sticks when you press it. Trying to find away to order replacement keys.

Excellent basic laptop that can get it done
great laptop - and with the addition of 8Gb ram, it really whips along. Even can play a bit lesser demanding games. Wish the keys were dark - the lettering would stand out better...
