So far my HP Omen 17 has been a pleasant surprise, i purchased this because it had the CPU & GPU combo i was looking for, at a great price as it was on sale. The only reason i gave 4 stars is the keyboard, it could be improved a little, other than that very happy with its performance so far.

I managed to snag this on sale and I have had no regrets. I had purchased a different laptop at first, but it didn't have the tenkey. I was able to return the other without issue and without a restocking fee since I was getting another laptop. One that cost a little more, sure, but the tenkey and the better overall specs made process worth it. It doesn't have the Ryzen 7 7800 X3D, but most games don't even need that unless you're pushing for the highest FPS possible. Games like Fortnight or other first person shooters need that, but what I have will do just fine. Needing it for a mulitude of reasons other than gaming made the decision even easier. It does have the RTX 4070 laptop version (NOT the same as the 4070 desktop version, which is more powerful- but I won't get on that soap box.) HP Support and Sales were both kind and gracious, which is a far cry from the horrific experience I had with Dell. I'm glad I gave HP a second chance after avoiding them for a decade. My only regret is not having gone to them first instead of wasting my time with two other companies. My only gripe isn't really a complaint. I wish this laptop had been available in different colors. I had hoped for white so it could match the Hyte Y70 case of the desktop I built. But I digress. As Henry Ford once famously said: You can get it in any color you like as long as it's black."

I am not a high-tech guru. However, I will say that this laptop is decent. I isn't as fast as I thought it would be, but it's ok. The battery only goes an hour or less while not on the charger and then needs to be charged. Hopefully, they work on that. This is my first time purchasing a new laptop and I did do some research for 6 months prior. This is what I found in budget.

I bought this HP Omen 17.3 to replace my ten year old Gateway 17.3, that was still running Windows 7 xp, and having some issues. I decided on this one because I wanted American made and after some research, this one had the best bang for the buck that I could find. I 'm not a big time online gamer, nor am I a pro computer gamer, but am a big time console gamer, having thousands of hours on different platforms going back decades from Atari and Nintendo to Playstation 2 to XBox 360. I'm no expert on gaming laptops, so keep this in mind as you read this. I am probably like many other users, doing limited social networking and media consumption online, and through the years, I have used my laptops for some limited gaming. This purchase was to upgrade my setup to be better at both, and that's exactly what I have got with this beautiful machine. My machine has the Windows 11 Home, AMD Ryzen? 7 processor, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX? 4070 Laptop GPU (8 GB GDDR6 dedicated)16 GB memory; 1 TB SSD storage17.3" diagonal QHD display as standard equipment, that I immediately upgraded with two 16 GB memory sticks from Crucial that I replaced the minute that I opened the box, giving it 32 GB total ram. This was really the only thing that this unit really needed, as far as I knew, to make it work much better for most everything. I'm really happy with this laptop, as it has exceeded my expectations in every way, but the bloatware in Windows 11 home is horrible, and is causing ongoing issues. The worst of it is in the Gaming hubs where advertising popups abuse you and run constantly changing images of thousands of games that they think you want to buy. This causes my beautiful new laptop to constantly lockup and crash so that I have to restart way too much for my liking. This problem will be solved when I finish debloating my unit and uninstalling the culprit software in Windows 11 Home. Anyway, when I'm doing high action fps gaming, the fans are really very quiet, but the keyboard can get pretty warm in the top center area. I have it on a KLIM Wind cooling pad, which must be helping some, but the cpu and gpu temps look just fine even after a couple hours of somewhat intense gaming. I know this because in the Omen Gaming Hub feature, there's a convenient little widget that allows you to display you machine's real time stats on screen, so you can see exactly what's happening inside. I keep it up there all the time so I can see this important information to keep tabs on my investment. The AMD Ryzen and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX? 4070 Laptop GPU is incredible with super clear graphics that don't ghost or lag and the detail is amazing. I'm using Fallout 4 to learn how to use the keyboard when gaming, and love to run the clicker for hours on Torchlight, but there's definitely a learning curve when keyboard gaming. So this is what I'm basing my observations on so far, with this laptop. Video streaming and network surfing is perfect, and creating memes in Adobe works great, but definitely makes this machine run hard, which surprised me a little bit, but makes sense I suppose. So aside from the bloat in Windows 11, and the issues it's causing, I'm really happy with my purchase. This unit really has everything for my level and type of uses, and then some, which is exactly what I was looking for when I decided to purchase it. I'm very much aware that it will take some time for me to get this setup to where I'm 100% happy, since I'm no IT guy, it's probably going to take a bit longer to get the buggy stuff out. So all in all, I'm glad I went with this model, and not something else. It's a really nice laptop that feels well built with a sturdy chassis, and a good feeling keyboard, along with the great operating technology inside.

I bought this computer to be the main computer for my consulting business, which involves a lot of communication. However when Office 2019 was installed, the computer which has an AMD chipset, would not allow Outlook to save copies of sent emails. After using consultants to try and fix the problem, I finally concluded that Office was designed for Intel chipsets and although it would pretend to run Office, the AMD chipset would not allow all the detailed functions of Outlook to work. I eventually returned the product (which involved paying a 15% restocking fee- disgusting since it was a design problem, not a manufacturing problem.) I replaced it with another HP laptop with essentially the same specifications but using an Intel chipset and it has worked flawlessly ever since I took it out of the box.. I still have not received a refund for the junk Omen product..

Great HP gaming laptop, but HP return policy cost me over $200, returned unopen, the first week.

This is a well made laptop but it lacks three features I want in a laptop: an IR webcam, which is required to login to Windows with facial recognition; a backlit keyboard, to avoid having the printed-on letters rub off after a few years; and a built-in DVD player, which HP has dropped from its product line.

Awesome laptop. Needs 32 for memory to be perfect because it takes a little longer for loading without it. Need easir way to reach casting and wifi buttons but that is a windows thing, not HP. Work flawlessly, no hiccups, stsys pretty cool (improved ventilation), comfortable to use and plenty of storage.
