I use this in an office environment with 4-6. The printer might, I say might, print 5 pages per minute. It's always calibrating, always cleaning, always doing something OTHER than printing. It takes an HOUR to print a 300kB PDF. Do yourself a favour. Just send HP the $200 and move it directly to the write-off line. Don't waste MORE time enduring the frustration of trying to use this. Toner good for about two reams of paper. That's around $0.30 per page just for toner.

I love this printer. High quality black and color prints, fast printouts, easy to use, long-lasting (I've had it for 3+ years, no problems whatsoever), and has a small form factor. This is a great buy if you're looking for a great bang for your buck-type color laser printer.

Great printer except the ink cost will break your bank account. The way you know you are out of ink, it simply won't print a dcoument anymore and you are out of luck and have to go the the store and purchase more ink cartridges. No warning, nothing. And if not sure which cartridge is empty you end up having to buy all 4 cartridges!!!!! Very very expensive. Low cost printer, but warning.

This printer is slow, always out of memory, unreliable. When I do get a copy, the copies are good - but who has time to wait on the copy - takes quite awhile. I would love to get my money back - but that will never happen. So - don't waste your money on this laser printer.

I purchased this printer to print about 100 copies of a technical book I wrote. This has provided a great alternative to paying a professional printer for a short run and I can print copies on demand. I even have a local vendor do perfect binding so nobody would ever guess that I printed it myself. It has a couple of down sides. There is a long cooling off cycle if doing a LOT of printing. And with a 100 MB file due to all of the photos imbedded in my Word documet, the printer memory would get flooded and not hold a complete copy of the book. I fixed this with a memory upgrade but I would recommend shopping around as the price for this memory varies from very cheap to horribly expensive. I like it so much I am considering buying another one for my real estate office. It would produce dynomite flyers.

I really like this printer. Delivery was very fast. It was very easy to set up and it is quiet. I would recommend this printer to anyone.

It does work, but that's the best you can say. Printing requires special paper that's VERY thin and VERY expensive and available only from HP. This means it won't print the waterproof labels that was my intended use. The promised networking function never worked, and their email help line was not helpful. Got to wonder about a company that makes a printer that doesn't work on a Macintosh operating system. What else have they left out? An opportunity lost.

I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS PRINTER. I AM WORKING ON RETURNING THE MACHINE FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE CARTRIDGES DON'T LAST. AND IF YPU PUT THE MACHINE IN OVER RIDE MODE TO GET MORE OUT OF THE CARTRIDGES IT WILL START TO DOUBLE IMAGE. HP SAYS SEND IT BACK FOR EXCHANGE.

Printer frequently does not communicate with my HP laptop. Everytime I disconnect from my laptop, the drivers have to reload and I loose all my print documents in the memory. Customer service is slow at best and in most instances they are unable to help.

I purchased this computer because of the ability per the Users Manual to control use of the color cartridges during printing to allow only use of the black cartridge. After several hours with Technical Support, I was informed the functions I wanted are not available using Windows 7. I am greatly disappointed. I was happy with the output with color and quality, but I cannot accept the linitations of functionality at this time. The options do allow grayscaling but you cannot select the settings for grays, How it was explained to me is all cartriges are being used to create the grays if you do not select one of the color management selections. This selection (see page 53 of Users Manual) allows you to either use "Black Only" or "4-Color." This selection is not available for me. Also you cannot disable color under the Restrict Color option (see page 47 of Users Manual). I believe not making these selections could be one of the reasons some people have complained about their color cartridges being depleted when they thought they were only using the black cartridge. Addtionally, the HP ToolsboxFX program is not available. I am returning this printer and will wait until I find a printer that works in a fully functioning capacity with Windows 7. If the inability to fully control the color cartridges along with lack of other functionality options are not issues with you, then you might consider this printer.

I Have Almost Had This Printer For A Yr Now & The Ink Last A Long Time You Can Use It Wirelessly Through Ur Wireless Router Ink Quality Is Great But Not Good For Printing Pictures & Stuff You Can See Lines & Stuff In It & This Ink Is To Expensive To Use It For That Anyways I Would Prefer HP Photo Printers Or Another Brand Sense Ink Is Cheaper For Photo Printing If U Will Do That Alot But This Is Good For Printing But This Printer Will Us More Printing Paper If You Look At The CM1312nfi Printer I Own That As Well & Both Printers Take Both Kind Of Ink & The 1312 Will Take More Kinds Of Paper That This Printer Does Not Have Listed If You Want Better Kind Of Glossy Paper But You'll Pay For The Paper Its Not Cheap Good Luck With The Choice Of Printer!!!!!!!

While printing is a bit slow and the machine is so heavy, I am very happy for this purchase. Wireless is so great as well. I love it.

I bought this printer in Feb. 2009 and I love it! It prints beautifully and has been the best printer I've ever had. However, now that I bought the new TouchSmart computer with Windows 7 there is not a full-featured driver for this printer so I do not have all usable paper stocks listed in my paper options, nor do I have the toner status info that I used to have. I hope HP will correct this problem.

We bought this printer back in April and have only replaced the black toner cartridge. This is not too bad since we have two full time college students in our household and they are constantly printing out drafts and finals of term papers. One of the nice things about this printer is that our old inkjet tended to get clogged over the summer because the kids were on vacation and print use went to almost nothing. This caused print quality to deteriorate and required the purchase of new cartridges. As other reviewers mentioned, the toner for the 1518 is more expensive. However, the cost is ameliorated by the fact that now we are not throwing away unused ink. Our new HP laser printer picked up right where we left off and print quality remained exceptional. Another one of the nice qualities about this printer is that it connected effortlessly to our wireless network and now anyone can print from any location in our house; no more carrying flash drives to the desktop or emailing documents to ourselves so we can print. Now it's simply type and print; the way it should be!

I bought this printer to replace my dead from old age HP Deskjet 720C. This printer setup without any problems at all. I first set it up with USB and then I decided to try setting it up with my network. Once the Cisco router found the printer, it assigned an IP address and then my computers on Windows 7 and Windows XP found it with no problems at all. (Of course I installed the print driver on each computer.) I then tried to print and it prints great. It might be a little slow but it is not intolerable. There were no jams other than when I cancelled a print session. It actually did not jam but thought that it did and I simply opened the panel in the back and it reset itself. The only slight downsides to this printer are no automatic two sided printing and the single sheet operation seems a little difficult. The only other thing I can see would be to have a 500 sheet tray. But hey, Its a great printer for the price and works great too. I would highly recommend this model printer.

Yep, its not the fastest printer out there, but where is lacks speed it makes up in quality! Photo quality is actually better then my inkjet. THe networking feature is extremely simple, and I just plugged it in and it worked! I love the toner, this color Sphere toner is a high gloss toner, so colors really pop out in your documents. I have no regrets purchasing this printer....

Really like the printerand the quality of the prints.????? I make a lot of color copies. This cute little printer gave me about 250- 300 pages before it needed more toner. The new HP (expensive) yellow toner cartridge has just run out after about 300 pages. ?? This is a negative feature if you make a lot of color prints. If the toner cartridges lasted longer, this would be the best little printer ever.

After reading the reviews on the 1215, I decided to go with the 1518 because it has considerably more memory and a faster processor. I don't plan to use the network connection, but it's available on the 1518 and not the 1215. It also has a separate manual feed slot that the 1215 is missing. They both use the same toner cartridges and otherwise the specs are the same. The 1518 comes with 1/2 size cartridges. If they were full, the printer would be free for buying 4 cartridges since the cartridges are pretty expensive. I haven't used it much yet, so I can't say how fast it goes through toner. It is rated at about 1/4 the number of pages for the same cost as cartridges for my older laserjet. It has some adjustments that may allow you to reduce the toner usage for a sacrifice in print quality. It stops printing when it thinks your cartridge is too low on toner. You can override this feature through the front panel if you know how. Quality looks good, though the toner is shiny compared to an inkjet. It has only one speed: slow. The manual feed slot seems to work ok, though not as well as inkjet. Small items aren't very repeatable or predictable just where the print will go. It will not feed more than one item in the manual (1st tray) at a time. If you put in several sheets, it pulls just one, but then ignores all the others. That becomes a real problem since it goes into a "cleaning cycle" after every manual feed sheet. The cleaning cycle takes perhaps 30-45 seconds, making the manual feed about one sheet per minute, not 8-12 as specified. It has one great feature if you need an exact color, say for a logo. An extra software program allows you to select those colors on the print that need to be precise. It then prints out a sheet for you to match to the true desired printed color. It prints another even finer resolution sheet if necessary to get a better match. Then, whenever a document containing those colors is printed with the correction file, the color will match exactly. Be sure to wait to plug in the USB when it tells you installing the software. It recovered nicely, but had to completely uninstall everything and start over to do it. Its power save feature is great! My UPS tells me the watts in use. When it goes into power save, the watts go to zero. It does occasionally come out of power save for no obvious reason. It starts pretty quickly from power save when it is time to print. It has some problems with security when placed on a network, but I think a driver update may address that. Be sure to read up on the networking issues if you place it on a network that has an externally visible network address. As long as it's behind a firewall, I think it will be ok. It can do duplex (both sides) printing in the driver, requiring you to remove the paper and insert it in the tray again. The driver for this feature is a little nicer than the inkjet driver for the same feature. Printing legal size paper requires the paper to stick out the front of the printer, a bit awkward, but functional.

I have had this printer for about a month and I absolutely love it. I had limited space for the printer and initially made the mistake of purchasing a smaller and cheaper color laser printer. While it's size was great, that's the only positive attribute of that printer. After only 5 months in ended up in my recycling bin and I headed out to find the smallest HP color laserjet that I could find. The 1518ni fits the space perfectly and makes the previous printer look like a toy. The 1518ni is absolutely the most perfect printer for my needs. I find that it prints quickly, even from Standby, the colors are right on with no breaks in the color, and the text prints dark and crisp. It has a manual paper feed tray that makes printing envelopes a breeze and the LCD readouts are easy to see; using the printer was very intuitive for me. If you use different types of paper stock, you can adjust the printer for this to maximize the quality of the print. Everything is very accessible for use---paper tray, manual feed area, LCD readout and menu buttons, and slots for different sized memory cards. The printer also remains cool to the touch when printing or in standby, which I have not found to be the case with all laser printers. I hope that this printer lasts a long time, because I definitely see the 1518ni as a "keeper." The only "con" for this printer is the cost of the toner, which is quite expensive. Other than that, this printer truly deserves 5 stars! Hopefully, that won't change in the coming months, but my previous HP printers always did well so I have no reason to believe that this one will be different.

I bought this printer for my wife as she runs a small inhome business and, so far, we couldn't be happier with the purchase. Whether it's printing labels for her products or fliers and brochures this printer is up to the task.

This is a very good printer and I would give it an overall 5 star if not there was a discrepancy between HP's website and the printer's inner web management tool. Whereas HP's web-site states that the cartridges are good for approx. 1400 pages, the inner web page of the printer reveals other figures, namely approx 800 pages (brand new cartridges)...

This printer is great if you are not doing any type of volume printing. I offered to print invitations for a friends wedding and after every envelope, invite, response card, etc., that goes through, the printer does a self cleaning. It has taken an incredibly long time to get everything printed. For basic home office printing it has been great and I would highly recommend it.

Pro: This printer is very good in features and print quality. Cons: It is slow very slow when you print Black and white at only 12pmm. I can wait for color prints but Black and White should be faster in my office.

The CD that comes with this printer instructs the installer to hold off on plugging in the USB cord until the software prompts to do so, however; if you follow the cd's instructions it causes a fatal error 1606 and the installation will fail. So, after you plug in the power cord, go ahead and plug in the USB cord at that time too and the installation will proceed successfully. Be prepared for a long installation time, as the software does not load quickly. Once up and running though, this is a nifty little printer that prints beautifully --- it even prints labels without jamming.

I have printed on very expensive color printers, gone to copy shops but for a small home/office printer the 1518Ni spells not just value but quality. This produces business print quality to rival print shops, The speed and photo quality coupled with the price means a small office can quickly produce reports and brochures to rival Mega Corporations.

I replaced my aging LaserJet III with the CP1518ni and I'm happy I did. Works great. I had limited space requirements and this printer foot the bill Pros: A beautiful machine. Compact -- fits in limited spaces. The color is fabulous. Relatively inexpensive for a color LaserJet. Cons: No automatic duplexer available. The LCD readout is a bit too small and difficult to read (not that you have to read it too often). The four print cartridges are expensive -- what else is new? A little problem with the software - Occasionally a pop-up indicates that "WEP MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close". I'm working with HP to resolve this issue. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.
