A really amazing laptop
I am the kind of person who really hates when things don't work, or are bad quality. Thus, I usually take to building my own computers from parts which I buy off of the internet. Unfortunately, I really needed a laptop for school and that is not really possible because of obvious size and heat issues. I am also on a tight budget, so I wanted to get the best laptop I possibly could for my price point. I looked at Apple and Dell as well as some other manufacturers including Asus (who made my motherboard for my desktop). All of these had impressive products, but none with the type of specs like this one.
Being a student, the 14 inch screen is just perfect. I can fit two windows next to each other just barely which makes for easy note taking. This model comes with an i3 processor which is more than fast enough for most people, and the same goes for me. It's not as if I'm going to play any super high end games like COD on this (but I probably could). I was looking forward to getting the upgraded battery so that it would last through the day, but I found that the standard 5 cell works just fine. I do plug in during one of my classes near the middle of the day, but I probably could squeeze out a full 6 hours if I really tried.
When I first got the laptop, I opened it up and turned it on. I then tried to connect to the internet, but to no avail. I immediately called HP with the handy dandy list of numbers for every possibly country, and was helped by this super nice agent who fixed my router for me. It turns out that it had nothing to do with the computer, which was a relief. I also had to contact them a second time about a problem related to the computer randomly going to sleep. The representative just connected to my computer after I accepted every possible list of terms and conditions and fixed it.
The only real downside to this laptop is the preloaded software it comes with, like Microsoft Word Starter (I use Open Office which happens to be free). This was easily uninstalled which freed up a good space on my hard drive. Another thing which this comes with is a partitioned hard drive. When I got it, 20 Gigs of space was devoted to something like "Backup". I just called HP to be sure I wouldn't mess anything up when I deleted it. So far my computer has been working marvelously, and I am very happy with how quickly it got to me. (I ordered on a Thursday night, and it came on Saturday morning) I have already recommended this to a friend, and I hope that HP keeps coming out with great laptops like this!
Just as a note, at the time of this review, this computer had an upgraded hard drive (very necessary), an upgraded processor, and a different back than the normal model. It should be noted that this is the quick-ship model and does not require any time for them to build in the factory; it is shipped less than 24 hours after they receive the order. I paid in total $650 with tax, and free shipping, as well as a $30 off coupon which I found online.

enjoying it so far
I had an Acer Aspire laptop, that slowly but surely shut down, and when the power cord stopped working I took it at the last straw, and id been wanting to upgrade since im starting college soon. Id done a lot of time and research, making sure to know what I needed in a computer, and I landed on this. Shipping was super fast, which made me happy. The computer is about three times faster than my old one was when it was new. Im loving it so far. My only complaint that I really have is that sometimes the mouse freezes. I love the features, the webcam is really clear. Everything it says it is, very happy with my purchase.
