Great Machine

This is the second machine I bought with the same internal guts. Been with HP for years. The day I bought it, the very next day the price dropped $50.00, called HP and they gave me the credit instantly (thought that was professional of them to honor price match). Anyway the machine itself is extremely fast, the I7 chip with the 6 MG of memory handles all I need, I constantly have large files open in Excel developer and run both SharePoint Desktop and Web and am constantly updating a sync with other computers, not a problem with the horsepower included in the machine. Also I am a user who needs the larger screen as with multiple files I need to see what I am doing, the 17.3 is nice for that, adds a little weight to the machine but honestly how often are you really carrying a computer, plus with the layout you really can use the machine as a desktop. Another nice little feature is they made the battery compartment curved to raise the back of the machine, nice for viewing but I look at it as getting the bottom of the machine off the base which make the machine run cooler. I use the machine mostly for work, but having a BlueRay and decent speakers is a nice touch. I am extremely hard to please, at least that is what my wife says, great powerful machine. If you need a "con"; would have been nice if they included in this model having the keyboard light up.

Great Laptop

I had been looking to replace my desktop and was waiting for the right laptop to come around at the right price. This system fits the bill as it is powerful and easy to use and has a great size monitor. It is good for anything from spreadsheets to multi-media and beyond. The power and capabilities of a desktop with the flexibility of a laptop. I would recommend this system to anyone.

A LOT OF COMPUTER 4 THE MONEY- NO BUYER'S REMORSE!

I have been shopping for a laptop literally for years. I could never commit to a purchase because I feared that something better would come along, I was afraid I would regret any purchase I made. Every time I would look at what was out there, I would end up dissatisfied with what I saw. If a laptop had what I was looking for, it was way too expensive, and if it was a laptop I could afford, it was lacking in something. Then I came the dV7-4190us and i was sold. It was everything I was hoping to find with a price tag I could afford. You get a lot for your dollar with this model, you really can't really go wrong. The first one they sent me had a problem getting online, which they said was a software issue and they did an exchange, I have had this particular one for 2 weeks or more and couldn't be happier. After my mother saw the great deal HP had on this model, she purchased one for herself. At nearly 70 yrs old, this is her first laptop and her first NEW computer, she couldn't be happier herself, in fact, I believe my brother has laptop envy. It has a HUGE hard drive and plenty of memory. It was quite easy to set up right out of the box. PROS: It is quite fast and stable, yet it is very quiet and does not run hot at all. It has a nice big widescreen display. The picture is so clear that my desktop looks fuzzy in comparison. It is has a sleek, attractive case, and I love the "stainless steel" look. My mother and baby Skype each other daily and the picture the webcam puts out is crisp and clear. The fingerprint reader is a nice touch also. CONS: These few points are not really cons, just some things that could be issues for some people. The sound, to me, is adequate for surfing and such, but sounds a bit too tinny and weak for music. Let it be noted that my husband doesn't agree with me on this, he thinks it sounds just fine, but I plan on getting a set of external speakers once I do the research and find what I'm looking for. This is such a common problem for laptops from what I gather. It is a rather weighty and bulky in size, not really portable for everyday use. If you're looking for a notebook for taking on the road, classroom etc., this may not be the right fit for you, but this is what I wanted, a larger laptop, because it is a desktop replacement for me. The only real CON I have is that the disc drawer is hard to open, maybe it is something I'm doing wrong, but it is kinda stubborn, so I use the eject button in the computer menu. All-in-all, I would totally recommend this laptop. Do yourself a favor a give it a try, with HP's 90 day return policy, how can you go wrong?
