This printer is the ( first ) printer I purchased many* yrs. ago. To my surprise it still prints documents & pictures beautifully. I always use the USB cable instead of the e wireless as a preference. This priner works flawlessly* with my older ( firts HP ) Laptop - Pavillion dv7. Because this printer is an older model There's some printing issues with a Newer HP Laptop I have. I suspect outdated software issues. Over all , my HP ENVY 4500 all in One Priner is still functional to date.

I'm sure I've had this printer since 2016. It's been great. I was printing on it only 2 weeks ago. However, about a week ago it gave me a message for "Incompatible ink cartridge". Even though I had been using the ink cartridges in it for about 6 months. I spent $70 on new ink. That didn't work. I tried every troubleshoot available on HP Support. Now I'm stuck with a printer that refuses to print and I need to print stuff for school since yesterday. It would have been nice if there had been some kind of warning before I wasted all of this money on new ink. Now I'm stuck ink that is incompatible with any current models that HP offers and a really large paperweight.

This HP Envy 4500 is a piece of junk. So many issues with it specifically wifi connectivity. With over 50 MPS download with a high tech Dell desktop computer, I have to continuously reboot the computer or printer or re-install the password to the printer just to print. This device will delay your work progress on a daily basis. Furthermore, the ink cartridges are very expensive. I have since ordered and Espon Eco Tank and once I get that installed, the HP Envy 4500 will meet its fate with the sledghammer. You've been warned.

Doesn't connect consistently. Even the HP Diag tool doesn't work. Always changes its IP address. Even changing to static IP mode doesn't help it connect properly. Prints fine but extremely unreliable. Next time I will take heed when 33% of an HP product has 1/5 star ratings on Amazon. This is junk; even updates don't help.

I've been using this HP Envy 4500 for almost 6 years and it just keeps on working. Print quality is great for my routine daily office use. Photo quality is a bit lacking, but more than adequate for brochures, greeting cards or even the occasional photo to frame. Scan quality is great for documents, but not as good for images. Scanned images can often look less sharp than the original and image printing can use quite a bit of ink. Still very useful for non-critical pictures. Linux support is excellent and setup is a breeze. Plug it in and start using it. Windows require the usual ten minute installation procedures. Best printer I've ever purchased.

I've had this printer for years and it worked well once before it kicked the bucket. My computer tells me that it still has ink, it just refuses to actually print whatever I need. It currently just sits in my closet taking up space.

For absolutely no discernable reason and without any error messages, this lump of plastic doesn't do anything except wait with printing jobs in the queue.

I like this HP Envy a lot. I've had mine for about 4 years. I love that it scans, prints, copies. I use it all the time. I do wish it would scan a stack of papers rather than one at a time. But the individual pages scanned can be combined into one doc - it's just that you have to take individually scan each pg. It has worked well for me, and I actually scanned every paper I had on file, digitizing my paperwork - bank stmts, house papers, etc, etc. so that I don't have to store them anymore. It's been a workhorse for me!

Not photo quality, but for everyday use, it's excellent. I wish it had a built-in fax like my last HP all-in-one. Otherwise, no complaints.

Seems like every time I go to use my printer lately it wont print, I looked it up online and I am apparently missing drivers, but when I tried to update them it fails, waste of money. NEED a printer for school or I cant turn in assignments and I will fail my college courses. Should never have got this printer!!!! Not only that, but I type and print study guides for midterms and finals and want to highlight important areas and the "genuine HP ink cartridges" use an ink that smears EVERYWHERE even if it is 100% dry. Not happy with this purchase, OR this product, as it obviously meets none of my needs.

Quits printing halfway through a paper if print more than one page at a time. Goes offline frequently and hard to get online again. I use it quite a bit and will be replacing soon.

I love all the basic features like scanning and copying, for a college studnet, it meets all the general tasks I need done. Its size and price point were also a great seller. However, I do have issues with it every now and then, sometimes it won't print right before a class when I need to print a paper...which becomes annoying. For the price, what is there to expect? I will say that I could not get the printer to function wirelessly, I needed to buy a connecting wire to plug it into my laptop.

This printer seemed great at first in that it was a good size and a nice price point for what we needed. After about a couple months of use (and probably only printing about 5 times within that time span) an error code (ox83c0000a nos_loader_app) popped up on the printer, which restricted us from printing anymore until the error was resolved. The carriage was stuck all the way to the right, giving us no access to the ink cartridges that had barely been used. After going through the troubleshooting steps provided by HP (which consisted of unplugging, holding down power button to restart, etc.) they came to the conclusion that it could not be fixed. I now have to throw this printer that we've barely used away. I've seen a lot of other reviews regarding this error code (it seems to be a pretty common problem that people are having with this particular printer) that ended with the same result- no solution for fixing. No more HP for us. Just a warning!

Bought this printer during the 1st quarter of 2015. Other than the scan to computer dropping off on occasion (which can be remedied with a recent HP update and reboot of the printer) it has been an excellent printer for me. Has proven itself reliable and effective. The Instant Ink program is a great automated help when supplies begin to diminish. The web features are most beneficial. Ironically this printer is now discontinued.

Since buying this product I have nothing but trouble. It would suddenly stop connecting to my laptop and I would be forced to reinstalling the HP software. Or it would not print the full page ( it happened a lot). Now the speed of printing pages has become so low that I don't know what to do with it.

works every time. scans perfectly wirelessly, prints perfectly from my phone. it was the least expensive printer i found and though the salesman tried to talk us into a more expensive one, i am thrilled this works so reliably after all the others i had that simply didn't. the wireless aspects are most important to me and they are flawless.

From the moment that we purchased the printer, I have had nothing bur trouble. I loved that you could send from your phone to the printer and it would be easy for the kids to do also. Well only half the time, if that, can I even get it to print from the cellphone and when it does print it cuts off half of the picture. I am so unhappy with this printer. I will not be buying another HP that I do know!

I bought this 3 months ago and have had trouble since the 2nd week. I thought the trouble would go away, but it did not. I turn it on...the display panel is blank. I unplug it and try again...same thing! When the display panel works correctly, the arrow buttons are extremely sensitive. I cannot make a copy easily. I cannot scan easily with it. IMHO, it is JUNK. I wish I could return it and get something that will work properly.

The second Envy printer and we are so disappointed. The paper jams constantly. It came with a lap top, no wonder it was free. A piece of junk.

This is an alright printer when I can get a job to go through to the printer. I've had nothing but problems using this printer. I tried using the wireless function, but after a month of trying I still cannot get it to work. I am connected via usb cable to the printer with my desktop and even then the printer is not reliable. If you are looking for a printer that will work 100% of the time with out having to fight with it, this is definitely NOT the printer for you.

You will grow to hate this printer. It's a solid performer for the first month, and then it's all down hill. Wireless printing keeps resetting causing you to have to reenter everything each time you want to print. At that point it's easier just to hook up the USB cable. That is easy to workaround. The fact that black ink just stops printing, however, is not. Google it and you will find thousands of customers whose blank ink just sops printing. 61% ink left and nothing comes out. Go buy a new cartridge and still no black ink (you cant return cartridges by the way). The only thing it can be used for now is scanning via USB. I will never buy another HP printer again.

Excellent printer for the price
By Sket
As stated, for the price this is an outstanding all-in-one wireless printer. Print quality is excellent. Setup and wireless connection is very easy. The only part of the setup that is a bit cumbersome is the data entry of things like the network's password. You have to step through the keyboard one character at a time to select each individual character of the password as you enter it. Again, though, you can't beat it for the price.

Cannot select black ink only and draft mode function as preferences. Must change preferences every time I print.
