I bought this printer when they first came out and I couldn't be happier with it. But, my complaint is, while showing it to a co-worker this morning, it stated on the website that the printer has been discontinued. Just like HP--you get a product that works great and is easy to set up and it is done. How long until product support goes away?

I’m not getting paid to write this. I’m not a robot nor do I work at firm that writes fake reviews. I’m a student at the Univ. of Utah. I HATE dealing with tech support stuff, but this printer just works, and wireless printing just works— which is a miracle. However, if you don’t install the HP Smart app, it will give you trouble. You have to keep the drivers up to date, but at least HP creates updated drivers for it instead of just abandoning it. Also, just pay for the HP ink program and you’ll save more money than you realize. It’s only $5 a month. I’ve had it for three years now and I figured HP has earned my positive review.

I bought my printer 7 years ago and it held up very well until recently when it quit feeding, printing, would get stuck on scanning new cartridges for hours. Tried cancelling and it would never quit. I tried printing page and it came out all black ink. , I would like to buy one just like it as I have 2 brand new ink cartridges.

This printer has been frustrating ever since I've gotten it. It constantly jams, it doesn't pull the paper correctly and ends up printing on 2 or 3 pieces at a time, and the cartridges always get stuck. I tried printing something 4 times and kept getting the message that the cartridges were stuck. There was never anything in the way of them and I even took them both out and re-put them in and it still jammed (and I never got to finish my printing job). The only reason I put up with it so long is because it was wireless and convenient, but definitely not worth it anymore. It wastes so much ink and paper.

I regret it so much buying this ... DONT WASTE your money it only works when it wants to work

My frustration with this printer is that it is impossible to set it consistently to default to single-sided printing. Most of my printing is single-sided and i have to check a box every time I want that option, and sometimes that option is not even available.

The color prints vibrantly and bright. The connection was fine for me (unless the internet was down of course). I always used it for single-sided printing. One thing, is you gotta use the HP ink meant for this printer. I used a generic ink and it worked for months but then stopped one day....replacing it with the correct cartridge solved the problem. Comes with free photo paper!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. I bought this for college and it hasn't worked properly since day one. EVERY time I try to print, I have to run the Print and Scan Doctor so it will reconnect (wireless connection? LOL) because it never stays connected wirelessly. Forget trying to print anything directly from the internet, either. Basically, to print something, I have to uninstall and reinstall the driver and wait every single time. It will not work in a college dorm or an apartment (where I have my own wifi router). The features are great, but the performance is so lacking that I wasn't able to use them. I have never accomplished scan-to-computer successfully. Do not waste your money on the hP ENVY 5530.

I am incredibly frustrated with this printer. It was purchased before I started working here, so I'm stuck with it until it dies. 1. Getting the blank sheets of paper out to put in an envelope is a pain in the neck, especially the bottom one or two sheets. Some kind of indention that goes under the paper would be incredibly helpful. 2. Sliding the envelope holders to print envelopes isn't easy or convenient -- you have to stick your hand into the printer, and hope the ridges of your fingerprints will grasp the little holders enough to slide them. They don't slide easily. 3. The ink is awful. I haven't found a high-lighter yet that can highlight without making the ink run, no matter how long ago the sheet was printed. Add to that, the ink cartridge empties FAST. We are going through an ink cartridge about every week. 4. Scanning documents -- if your document has more than one page, each page will be scanned as a separate document; not page 1, page 2, page 3, etc. 5. If the arm that catches and holds printed pages isn't out, newly printed pages will knock previously printed pages off. I need every inch of desk space I have, so I don't keep the arm swung out.

I hate this printer. It never works without manual manipulation. It's printing all black and white today and I find NO way to fix it. New blk ink, color is half full. I need these documents in color! Prints test copies just fine and wastes expensive ink. I want a new printer. Cannot afford.

I am so over the problems with this printer. Have had it 2 yrs and have trouble since the beginning. Every time it gets unplugged or the electric goes out you have to uninstall and reinstall the stupid thing. It takes like 3 hours every time. have talked to tech and they took over 3 hours onetime to try and fix it. Another issue is it won't print more than one page. If you have a 5 page paper it will only print on page then you have to go back and try to print the rest. Today it wont even connect to reinstall. DO NOT Waste your money on this thing.

First year the printer worked fine. I even recommended it to my sister. Since then,I have had reoccurring issues with getting the printer to AirPrint. Either the printer says its idle or it starts printing and then fails to complete the job. I call customer service a year ago and instead of helping the tried to sell me a service package. Im extremely disappointed in the reliability of this product and with HP's response to my issues.

I paid $120 for the printer + an additional $30 to program it to my laptop. Bought it on April 2014, I've used it 4 or 5 times max. Since day one its either it don't print or paper jam . spend more money on new ink and forget it. Is there any refund because this is really not right.

Can't use Card Stock paper to print your own cards using Hallmark Card Studio. See now where printer will only take 16-24-lb paper and card stock paper is 65 lbs. Only problem I have with this machine.

This printer has stopped copying & scanning. I bought it late January 2016 for my winter/spring home. I came back for a few weeks in November and began having problems. I did not call because it worked sometimes and only used it a couple of times. When I got back in late January it won't copy or scan from either a hard copy or wirelessly. I even bought a new print cartridge because it showed an error message. I am a few days over having it for a year. It was only lightly used a max of 5 months in 2015 & not at all in 2016. It is now "out of warranty " and am working to get this printer replaced.

I bought this printer in December. This printer is not working on some of the laptops I have at home. It is constantly looking for printer and it's very frustrating. It will connect on some products but not all. The whole family has the same brand laptop and update too. We contacted HP and they tried but didn't really solve our problem. I regret purchasing this printer and wish I still had the box so I could return it. I love HP products, just not this one.

I have been trying for the past two days and the printer will not connect to my HP laptop with windows 10. I've tried doing it with a USB connection and wireless. The printer has connected to my other devices, but it will not connect to my main computer. I am giving up and taking it back.

Paper Jams often. Prints slow. However this model has very easy access to remove paper jams and to change ink cartridges. All my printers have been HP. This one's the easiest to work with.

I bought the printer for $49.95 at Best Buy and thought I made a great deal, considering how much it usually cost. Unfortunately the printer performed just bad and pretty much jammed every paper I fed it. It either jammed right at the paper input or later at the output. I really don't know if I can find even one good thing about this device, but I will try. Good: - Easy setup for wireless printing on Mac - Nice form factor Bad: - It is permanently jamming paper - Wireless printing takes forever (and it wasn't my wifi connection) - Wired printing isn't close to what the spec sheet says either Returned the product today, and have to say that I am done with HP (bad memories in their laptop section as well).

Had this printer for one year. It is still going strong. Especially like the duplex feature. For the price and considering that nothing electronic is long time, I think two years of life is decent. I love the instant ink program! I did have to try about five times for the wireless printing but I got it. I can now print remotely.

Purchased an Envy 5530 e-All-in-One from hp.com on March 3, 2014. After 21 months of light home use, it died today on December 3, 2015. It was used so infrequently that the original ink cartridges included with the unit were still in use. By the way, at the time of sale, the agent had convinced me that those cartridges were starter cartridges with very little ink in them. So like any non-tech savvy individual, I bought ink from him. What a waste of $90 for an unreliable printer and another $53 worth of unusable ink. Do not buy this product even at the going rate of $59. As for performance, it did the job while it was in working order. Like others have commented, there were pauses with the slow speeds it was printing at, but we didn't mind for the purpose which we bought it for. Just wish it lasted more than 21 months.

It is an excellent printer for the price. Features are great, however color printing is not as fast as advertised. It says up to 5.2 ppm (color) and as of now I've only gotten 1 ppm (color). Other than that small detail, the printing quality itself is great.

My two year old HP Desk jet stopped working. I got this one because the Scan and photo print software works so well. Print quality and speed is great. They fixed the paper feed problems. If you are having problems printing over WiFi you need to need to look at your WiFi router. I upgraded mine and everything worked great from then on. I found it for less at a Best electronics retailer.

Come on guys! This is obviously not a top of the line printer. For it's price, I think this is an excellent printer. Easy to set up and reliable. What else do you want for the price. The cartilages were less expensive than the other HP printers I had. I did a cost benefit analysis and decided to go with HP Instant Ink. Very happy with the entire experience.
